ahhh people chill. In higher level dressage they REQUIRE you to wear spurs. She was not abusing this horse, obviously she loves him. Did you see any durt clods on him? any green spots? nope, why? because she loves him and cares for him. The only way to keep a horse healty is to give it a job. she is riding him and his job is to go forward. Spurs are an artificial aide. Get over it.
y'all look great together! beautiful horse! and the spur part was funny! he didn't seem to even notice! and you obviously weren't hurting him, but perfecting communication
Oh yes, clearly the spur part is cruel, the horse is obviously in ridiculous amounts of pain and can't even stand it!! *eye roll* . Watch the video..... Anyone who thinks using spurs is cruel obviously doesn't ride horses or is a green rider who doesn't know how to use artificial aids properly!!
@truckergirl1000 yes, it all depends on how the spurs are used. She was gental with the spurs so it isn't crule. If you were to jab the horse would be crule.
@truckergirl1000 Ya i agree with thatperson195 the horse obviosly couldnt feel it or it didnt hurt that much to care she was doing it extremely soft for a huge buff animal. But yes i toatly hate things that hurt animals, especcialy halters, when people want there animal to look up and they pull back so it sticks into there mouth, sick. Its like putting a tiny rubber band and rapping it from one side of your head to the other exept for in the front its in ur mouth
@truckergirl1000 sarcasm in text: ur doin it rite. Also, you're absolutely right: anyone who uses artificial aids (should) know(s) how to use them. The person in this video clearly knows what she's doing! It's not like a horse would let itself get poked painfully in the stomach but stand still and quietly tolerate it. Mine would surely throw me off x)
@AlexLovePinkx3 Spurs also help (temporarily) if you've been using too much leg and the horse has become "immune". That way the horse is reminded, and the next time he won't "listen" it will become much harder to get a response without cutting his sides :) I vote for getting the horses sensitive with training! (but I must admit, spurs look awesome)
wow. really? they're just spurs. and that horse is as big as a whale. you think thats mean? I used to ride a horse that you would whack with a crop so hard and he wouldn't move an inch. it obviously didnt hurt him though, cuz he did nothing. and spurs are needed for a horse that doesnt listen to usual leg aids.
yes...the spurs are needed...a animal like this needs to be dominated by its rider...she can use the bit, reins, crop and spurs...whatever the riding mistress feels is necessary.
Oh yes, you can totally see that he's a fierce beast who needs to be handled with the toughest of treatment! How his rider handles him, and his flightly nature is well beyond me.... :P
nice..
