  • OMG, I was freaking out, because I went to this tournament in 2011, in the mat to the left (if you face the judges). Then I saw that it was from 2007. None the less, GREAT TECHNIQUES!

  • Thought I would let you know sir, my instructor showed me this video approximately 4 years ago before I joined our school as a way to show me what American Kenpo is like. It's been 4 years since then, and I still never get sick of this video. And the more time I've spent training, the more I've come to appreciate just how amazing these practitioners are. I salute you all

  • can anyone tell me what the name of the song is?

  • I studied EP's kenpo for a few years...many of the core essence of the techniques you learn are effective, but each technique has way to many movements for the real world. Each technique should have the number of movements reduced for greater effectiveness in real world self defense.

  • Wish the video quality was better but I love what i can see.

  • i really love this vid do you have one with a little better picture quility ?

  • @ManUpFightGear First of this is a dril tech line ... NOT reality! DUH!! Second I invite you to sneek up on any one in this line and then we can ask you the very same question as you ly on the floor in you very own puddle! LOL

  • Question, can a japanese karate-do compete in the 2010 kenpo division? The only problem I see is that the self-defense I know are quick and have few movements.I like the freestyle sparring on kenpo division rules than japanese/okinawan division. Would sweeps be legal if one catched the kicking leg?

I ask because many kyokushin tachniques will result in penalty for example kicking the leg to weaken it or knock the guy down with a low kick at the leg.

  • people who dont like AKK just havnt spent time n the program, but not only do u do drills like shown here performing techniques n exstensions of techniques.but how 2 apply them n 3 to up to 47 different varients depending upon circumstance and application of the person using the technique. n yes this was jus a DRILL.... not a free style sparring match. that these guys have done many times being n the kenpo system. AKK4lif3!!!!

  • This is a great video. Anyone know who the bald guys is? Looks pretty nasty.

  • MAN! you guys are awesome! i hope to achieve that degree of skill someday. thanks for the vid!

  • This is truly impressive. I have always liked Kenpo. the flkow of it. My only problem is that when they practice their techniques, the guys just stand there. What happens when they have to fight an opponent in motion?

  • Its a "DEMO" situation. Duh! Itf the initial block and or strike actually made contact, the situation would change considerably.. I have been dropprd by an inward block before. Those who have trained in the Pasadena school will back me on this one!! LOL

  • @Kenpohands I know its a demo situation. DUH!! My question how would it look in sparring. Dont get me wrong. I'm more than impressed by what im seeing. I just want to see them sparr more and use their techniques.

  • @Bladestar7 - When Kenpoists do their techniques on each other, we hit each other with "controlled anger". If we were to hit each other full force with many of these strikes and techniques you see, we wouldn't have anymore training partners.

  • @Bladestar7 .... Most techniques can be completed in less than 2 seconds... I've been a black belt in Kenpo since 1994. I can tell you that not only does it happen very fast, but the times I have had to defend myself, I can't even finish the technique.

  • I LOVE IT

  • Absolutely off the hook awesome! These kenpoists are amazing! I love this art!

  • good hard kenpo techniques i love it!

  • These are the guys your parents warned you not to screw with. Great stuff!!!

  • These are the guys your parents warned you not to screw with.

  • YeeHaww. Now that's what a line drill should look like. That was nice. Great job to all. Salute. Peace.

  • To quote the late great Edmund K. Parker

" I come to you with Karate, my empty hands. I have no weapons, but should I be forced to defend myself, my honor or my principles. Should it be a matter of life or death, right or wrong. Than here are my weapons... Karate, my empty hands."

Words to live by for all martial artists!

  • that being said. I think Willliam Chow did an excellent job of coming up with this system, and he will always be remembered...RIP.

  • I think there are some excellent skills and flow here, but just to point out, this is just a line drill, and from the video most of them would have broken hands after the first few strikes, and Kenpos grappling skill is suboptimal, for a skilled jujutsu fighter and their long range attacks tend to be weaker than other styles, and are extremely vulnerable to long range attacks, but short range in- fighting, it can't be beat.

  • GIVE EM SOME WHISKEY !!

  • American "Thug" Kenpo, lol.

    Great stuff.

  • Great video. I practice Shaolin Kempo Kung Fu. I've got a couple of vids of myself sparring in Seattle tournament posted on my site. Please check them out. Thanks.

  • Kenpo by far is the most masterful art . when are you coming to Miami,Fla?

  • To feel is to believe!! How good does it feel to be over skilled? Thats what I love about Kenpo - such an arsenal!

  • hey angello, post the 2005-2006 line! that was some rapidfire action!

  • fuckin bad ass! excuse my younger excitement. I've been in a few different martial arts, and Aikido has done very well for me, but I think I know what school im going to be attending now.

  • "To hear is to doubt, to see is to be deceived, but to feel is to beleive." -Ed Parker

Anyone who hates on Kenpo should watch this. That was Awesome. Thanks for posting!

  • Kenpo doesn't waste motion, it hits all vital areas along the path, from start to finish. Kenpo practitioners seem devastatingly fast due to this fact. When you study Kenpo you learn how to strike one area and create an opening to another target. As far as us Kenpo guys being overkill-ers, as my old instructor used to say, were don't overkill, were simply OVERSKILLED. Law of the Fist.

  • Never thought you could fall in love with a Martial Art.Thats what I thought before American Kenpo. Great Intensity Guys keep up the good work!!!

  • I love Kenpo.. It was the begining of my martial arts career. This looked like a great time, and I hope someday I will return to my roots of Kenpo. Right now I am training Kickboxing/MMA but I always drop in to the old dojo every once and a while to see how everyone is. This is a great demonstration of Kenpo, and if I am not mistaken, there was a bit of Judo and Jiu Jitsu in there as well ;)

    - Eric (1st dan Kenpo Karate, 3-0 Amature Kickboxing)

  • did you see that at 4:18 incredible man this art rocks! I would like to learn but just curious about one thing how do you move that fast and still maintain technique? Must take alot of practice. Also I love the way this art just says overkill you could easily devastate any oponent in a matter of seconds awesome purely awesome.

  • Ha. At 4.18 thats Mr Collado, the man who posted this video :) Very knowledgable and open minded Kenpoist - if you get the chance, go train with him.

  • The principles of American Kenpo are the technique to speed, power and accuracy. With understanding and practice come the maintaining of the technique. Hope that helps.

  • the human body can accomplish great things my friend...
