  • che grande che è!! questa canzone mi fa venire i brividi ogni volta che la sento....

  • i agree the imagery and lyrics conveyed is this song are amazing .......its as much about hope as it is despair like so many of bruces best songs over the years......it reminds me a little of dry lightning from tom joad record........haunting yet still with that underlying hope streaked through it.....long live bruce for he is my god

  • To me the incredible part is he was able to write lyrics like this (or just as good) when he was in his early 20's. Where did he get the experience?

    It's amazing.

  • @RudyCasordapek RudyCasordapek-- that is a very, very ,very good question..i have often wondered that myself...brilliant lyrics, as though he had a lifetime of experiences even in his 20's...that is one of the best questions i have ever seen on you tube...in his early years he writes as though he's already lived a lifetime....imo the single greatest song writer to ever come from america....easily..

  • @hardnessofthisworld Maybe the answer is; that I always felt that he was "an old soul" (sorry for that cliche). He thought about what he was doing and had a gift, that most of us could only wish for. Even the great rock and rollers back then could write great music, but none of them came up with lyrics like Bruce. And, that's what separates him from the rest of them.

  • I completely agree, as a lyricist he is second to none. I think it comes from two facts that many artists miss. 1. He has always kept himself grounded and maintained perspective. That perspective is very apparent in his song writing.

    2. He has a deep appreciation and possession of past greats Guthrey, Orbison, Cash and Presley. Like Prince he has taken them into himself.

  • With Prince I make the same point with the likes of James Brown, Little Richard, Santana, Hendrix and Mile Davis. Both are artists are if you like living Rock and Roll encyclopedias that is what makes them so bloody incredible. Incidently, both are furious live! Go well.

  • @RudyCasordapek: In his life? :-)

  • I Love This Song!!!

  • The imagery in this song is phenomenal. 'Where the sun bursts through the clouds to fall like a circle, like a circle of fire down on this hard land.'

Plus that line '..Bar-M choppers sweeping low across the plain' is outstanding.

Absolutely one his best 5 songs for me.

  • Bruce's ability to write meaningful, truthful, music is absolutely astounding-His talent leaves you in awe.I would bet it comes from his years of struggle to try to make a living in a very difficult industry. He did it,and what a bank account he has now.He deserves it all,his music has touched the lives of many people with enjoyment.

  • My God, that white-haired dude just explained the concept of time, space & work in a succinct paragraph - he is obviously a genius. "At the end of those 3 1/2 minutes, the thing has happened." Incredible.

  • Are you Sicilian?

Just kidding - but he is kind of...flaky.

  • Yeah and the engineer is damn right. Most bands keep on overdubbin each song for weeks and months. They record each instrumenten seperately, track by track, again and again. Only very few bands do it like the E-Street-Band: everybody plays at the same time, actually live. That's the vibe and the reason for that tight sound. They indeed record like men. Love it!

  • Can´t stop tears from falling. Please Bruce play this song for me this summer.

  • Timeless art....

  • the greatest song EVER made. by far. there is nothing i can say to describe how much i love this song. gods made this.

  • No Bruce made this, but that's a pretty close guess.

I still vote "Racing in the Street."

  • una delle mie canzoni preferite del boss blu collar rock

  • Maybe the best song he ever wrote. Listen to the boot of Vancouver on the Rising Tour, maybe the best live version ever.

  • F-ing Amazing. The God of Rock and Roll
