I skated at this joint during jr high years 68-72. God I missed it! I lived right around corner from it. So went there quite often. I thank God for being bless to have had the privelidge to skate there.
EMPIRE,WAS THE LAST HOME WHERE PEOPLE COULD GO OFF AND BE THEMSELVES.I THINK IT WAS A LOT OF THINGS THAT MADE IT CLOSED DOWN .A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDN'T MANAGE IT,RIGHT,AND TOOK IT FOR GRANTED.I STILL THINK THE POWERS THAT BE COULD'VE SAVED IT.I TO AGREE THAT WHEN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS PASSED ON,THE SPIRIT OF IT,DID,TOO.I THINK THE HIGHT OF IT FOR ME WAS DURING 1980 TO 1994.THEY HAD GREAT D.J.S,DURING THAT TIME.I THINK I WENT 3 TIMES A WEEK.FRI,SAT AND SUNDAY.
@bklynchicka994 Empire just got too ridiculous. I remember back in the day Empire use to be so much fun. I can't front like no fights happened back then, but I will say the younger generation really fucked it up. Me & my people used to call Empire the Micky Mouse Club, cause it turned into a corny teenager club on Friday nights. And them little niggas aint know how to act in public, I was there when Fabolous got robbed & the night some dude & his girl got jumped & got their clothes stolen. SMH
Why did they close down Empire?? I heard that they turned it into a public storage place then I heard that Bloomberg closed it down. Does somebody know the REAL reason why Empire closed down???

i loved this place so much it was here so long my mother used to come here when she was a kid im only 11 and i loves this place when it closed i just went skateboarding now i hate roller skating well i dont hate it i just dont do it anymore i skate

I partied and got stoned inside the middle of the the rink where everyone would showcase their skills!
Back in the Gloria (owner) days (RIP) after she passed it all went down hill from there!
The main problem was the younger generation and the music that they played, put you in the mood to fight rather than party!
