Inbred hicks? I moved down from NYC to this area in Texas and these are some of the kindest, most tolerant people I've met in my life. A lot of them might not have fancy college degrees or a passport filled with European excursions, but they are a lot better grounded in life than the average psychotic Northeast city dweller. Just because they have a zest for living (including calling their dogs "wiener dogs" as a joke) is no reason to disrespect an entire area of people you never even met.

Oh pardon me for thinking that the type of dog I own and care about is being insulted and being called a demeaning name. And I live in Texas. Ive met these people. And yes there ARE inbred hicks in this area. Calling them "weiner" is a terrible nickname for one of the smartest, most loyal breeds of dogs to ever exist. Yes you'd have to be of the common mouthbreather mentality to perpetuate a joke that wasnt particularly inspired to start with

I had a Dachshund named Freddy. We got him on a cold Jan. morning at my dispatchers office, a mechanic gave him to my wife, he fit in her coat pockit. He went all over in my truck. I called him my little weiner buddie. I lost him in 2005, a visiter did not see him under the blanket on the soafa bed, folded him in it. I cried so hard at work they sent me home, I was a wreck. I grew to love the little guy like he was just what he was, a member of our family. Don't be a snob.
