How are children supposed to learn to count from that

  • @Crono288 Hi,I Speak French And I Learned To Count Up To 12 When I Was 4 Because Of This Cartoon. I Also Knew My Alphabet In English At 4 YOs And Could Spell Out Words I Wasn't In School Yet. Sesame Street Is A Great Show. Except Now There Is Elmo And All The Adults On The ShowTreats Him Like Retard who Can't Learn. My Kid Hates Elmo Because He Thinks He's Too Much Of A Baby (My Kid Is 3 YOs) I Don't Know About The Future Of Sesame Street But They Need The Same Background We Grew Up On. Cordialy

  • THIS SONG IS STRAIGHT GANGSTA!!!!

  • @bdubs13177 no shit! i just hope lil wayne dont plan on sampling it

  • Is it irony or was it on purpose that the bit with the Golden Gate and the street car had a rainbow in it?

  • no it wasnt. they knew what they was doin!

  • herbie before his time genius!!!!

  • That was the bollocks!! I am privileged to have grown up watching Sesame Street.

  • Damn straight. I grew up during a pretty good era of Sesame Street, too: before the Elmo explosion.

  • DOPE

  • nothing like a bit of jazz sax bebop

  • omg i might have to make a song out of the do do dododdo dooo part when the women are singin.

  • LoL.. anyone notice the zebra gets knocked out of his flesh? rofl..

  • yup. thats my childhood i forgot how colorful it was. damn it kind of hurts my eyes.

  • S T U N N I N G ! ! ! !

  • is this why i like herbie hancock and carol vorderman?

  • I don't care how many schoolteachers said British pupils didn't/don't benefit from Sesame Street. US Kids' TV had it right with Oscar the Grouch and co!

  • It's how I learned a lot after moving to the U.S. from Scotland :)

  • Yeah, when I was little I almost never watched Sesame Street.. I preferred the less educational Muppet Show.. I had a cousin that was in first grade and she ALWAYS watched sesame street, and she used to speak spanish and was all super smart from it. :P

  • this is a hot ass song, psychedelic!!

  • Thats the Pointer Sisters..... Pretty Far Out

  • Now, if they'd all done this in Prime then every school kid from the 80's onwards would have been able to programme computers - istead of doing that crappy GUI thing!

  • I feel bad tht my niece wont grow up with the same kids TV I watched...now she has yuck...the teletubbies

  • I always loved it when they showed this. Good tune :)

  • the shiznet!!!the tune is Phat!!!!!

  • That is what kid programming should look and sound like. No giant purple dinosaurs(unless it's Dino), no irritating little red puppet with a chikd molesting sidekick(Mr. Noodle), jsut learning and fun.

  • So nice!Well done!

  • Happy memories. Kids tv should be like this now then there'd be less stabbings

  • OMG! I love this sooo many memories :D

  • the were proubaly high when the made it lol

  • Thats nothin', just recently, the Ying Yang Twins sampled the lyrics to this song (crackheadz).

  • the other thing i like about this is the fact that the people "calling" out the numbers arent using that patronising, cute cuddly kid friendly voice! they all sound like crack heads.

  • when i was a kid, this made me want to go to america! i thought the schools must be so cool. love the track.

  • i looooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeee this song.. they even played it on the radio during the throw back lunch where they play songs from the 70's and 80's.. i'm a kid again.. yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy

  • as a child i had a very vivid imagination, and this show used to give me nightmares

  • i remember this aww the memories

  • lol

  • Uhhh....

  • gmod !!!!!!

  • I just looked this up on a whim, cant believe I found it. I'm 35 and this song has been in my head for the past 30some yrs. thanks for posting it pozman69.....the classics

  • i was sad today.. girl issues and outta no where i just started singing 12345 678910 11 12 doo doo da doo doop...

  • This is one of my favorite songs on Sesame Street. So jazzy, yet you learn how to count just by singing the song. :)

Gosh I missed this song so much.

  • For no apparent reason I started singing this today. Thanks for posting, it took me right back to 8 years old :)

  • This is still one smooth jam!!!!!

  • This is so awesome!!

  • who remembers the episode of family guy where they spoofed this, except stewie (who had a virus at the time) was in the pinball?

    made me laugh silly.

  • they're not counting down. they're counting up. sesame street would be disappointed in OP.

  • I haven't seen this in years. It was the only reason I ever watched Sesame Street..... well that's a lie.

  • Bring this stuff back for kids! Stop feeding them dumbed down shit that supposedly 'at their level'. Just cause a kid isnt smiling and clapping doesn mean theyre not learning or enjoying something, or having their horizons broadened.

No wonder I loved Thrust and Headhunters the first time i heard them, growing up listening to this song!

  • bang on mate..is it any wonder we're trippers listening to this jazzed out funk when where kids..we owe seamse street a lot

  • Agreed. This song started me off in funk and jazz. Thrust & Headhunters are classics.

  • FUCK YEAH!!! No one has said shit about this video, because it's soo bad ass.

  • great tune and video! They sure dont make stuff like that anymore. What a funky ass tune!!!

  • i used to totally jam out to this when i was

    4!!!

    my earliest introduction to the

    psychadelic world of FUNK!

  • Awesome. Anyone else feel like they're on drugs when they watch this?? I credit Sesame Street with my musical education. The rhythmic complexity! What a crazy, psychedelic, CLASSY place Sesame Street used to be.

  • I was JUST going to say that. I feel like a took a time travel back to the 60s when I was watching this. Which is wierd because a) I'm pretty sure this clip is from the 70s, and b) I'm 22 I don't really know much about what things were like in the 60s.... but you took me there.

Sesame Street. I will always love you....:D

  • 10 rules

  • awesome great memories....great to go back to that time

  • so many memories.that video is frickin sweet!

  • classic.. great vid!

  • AMAzing VERY TRIPPY! LOL XXX

  • oh my god this brings bk memories. thanx mate!

  • wow! thank you so much for posting this!! I haven't seen this since I was 7 or something. awesome!!!

  • When i was younger i never appreciated the music during the cartoon, Some Funky sounding stuff!

  • Didn't Quincy Jones write this and have the Pointer sisters sing? Weird trivia to be sure.

  • yes.

  • I loved this , me and my brother would watch seseame street and always wanted this song to come on, but it was only shown like once every 10 episodes which was gutting, cheers for the memories

  • I was born in 1983 in Manila but I remember when they played a rerun. I think I was only 4 when I saw this. This is very funky, trippie, and catchy.

  • OMFG this is classic, one of the ways i learnt to count to 12 when i was a little tot!! Cheers

  • always one of the funkiest hooks I've ever heard I still recall the tune vividly - the clip rocks too!

  • This is therapy for anyone born in the 70's

  • anyone know where I can find the mp3 ?

  • No. But I can send you the mp4 If you want.

  • that was so trippy! Truly the best thing Sesame Street ever did. My 6 month old was diggin that and jumping up and down on my lap!

  • omg...that was trippy looking at it now

  • One of my favorites from Sesame Street! Thanks

  • Lol. Classic.

  • classic shit ....takes me back....nice one...

  • Wow. Thanks for the post, that funky bit of animation taught me to count!Big up Sesame Street

  • brings me right back.great clip.they were much simpler times

  • I wonder how pissed Stewie would've been if he had to go through all that. (Yes, this was very humorously spoofed on Family Guy.)

  • this is classic. I'm surprised there aren't more comments yet. Thanks for uploading! favorited!
