  • One of the greatest bands, like, ever. And I'm not even a metal fan. They just embody the spirit of the dark and the dense...

  • This is great. Any of you Godflesh fans out there also fans of SWANS?

  • If Big Black was a metal band.

  • anyone know what guitar justin's wailing away on?

  • this was the tune that made me realise Godflesh stood apart from the rest, the nastiest, noisiest, most sacreligious rock and roll you can ask for.

  • Roadburn!

  • How the fuck can 2 guys make such a fucking brutally crushing sound?!?!?!?!

  • @Xombigod because their godflesh, true talent, not like all the bullshit on the radio. metal is real music

  • Justin; I fucking salute you. Seriously. So much respect for how he stand alone was an innovator of grindcore, industrial, and post-metal....probably more to come...

    he knows where its at.

  • MY FUCKING BRAIN JUST MELTED. Finally a good quality old Godflesh show... OOOOF

  • The Big Black of metal.

  • Comment removed

  • Perfect. No more, no less.

  • I wish I was at this gig

  • What song?

  • i like how broadrick hasn't aged much in 20 years.

  • holy SHIT justin looks skinny in this video... he wasn't doing heroin or anything back then was he? probably just poor and couldn't afford to eat, eh?

  • @HammarHeart Justin did not like his image around when he was doing Godflesh.. He himself said he thought he was really frail and did not fit in the scene. -The eye Justin Broadrick interview.

  • HUH HUH HUH oi oi oooo not bad!

  • this is screwballamped .Just showing a sign of life. check out napalm death with godflesh sometime song is "avalanche master song"from noise for music sake.not as good but an interesting mix of industrial and grindcore

  • Saw these guys live in Preston back in the day around this time... bloody superb stuff :)

  • @fourfingerfunk I saw them at Spanky's in Riverside CA 1991. My ears still hurt to this day. Loudest gig I ever attended. Cheers.

  • Wow! I just heard Godflesh has reunited!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are doing a festival show in france.......... the hellfest Cheers Mate!

  • 20 years old and still nothing else like it around

  • godflesh were amazing until they went disco; slavestate was the beginning of the end. remixes? bag o'shite.

  • @gsnake666 /rollseyes yes because Slateman was totally disco

  • they were fucking brilliant before they turned disco.

  • @gsnake666 Man you speak like they just sold out.In this case the term of experimentation is valid.Listen to "Hymns" for instance. There's not much synth work on that record. They still maintained their guitars within their music overall even if they added drum 'n bass influences.Comparing to today's bag of thrash Godflesh were incredibly good

  • @bloodyrockfire I find it funny when people say metal bands "sold out". No matter what they do they're not making any money off of it, it's usually just the band adding some new elements to their sound. I don't expect scene kids to start buying Godflesh v-necks from Hot Topic any time soon lol.

  • @Beholdthesharktopus In fact some bands really traded their integrity for the greenies. There are quite a few examples but Godflesh has always remained sincere all the way around by Broadrick reflecting his exact sentimental edge into the music he produces.Jesu for insatnce is another side of his ego

  • It's like wine, the older it gets the better is tastes, I mean sounds. Long live Godflesh.

  • Still as fresh as ever. This will never age!!!!

  • I have the whole show on tape. It's one of the best shows I've seen.

  • I seriously miss these guys. Man I wish I liked air travel, otherwise I'd be at their reunion this year. Just gotta wait for the inevitable DVD I suppose...

  • I saw then in Leiden (holland) that year, incredible loud and heavy. Great gig, and great footage!

  • This fucking blows my mind!!

  • This is just...incredible. I can't really put into words just what this does to me physically and emotionally. I look at all the 'haircut' bands in Kerrang and weep for them.

  • Some of the best footage of them I've seen.

  • this is fuckin great...

  • Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Doesnt get much better than this.

  • Pure brilliance!

  • i want them back again!

  • @tgchan Then go to France next summer.

  • Godflesh has announced that they will reform for a single European performance at Hellfest in France on June 18-20, 2010.

wow!!! but why single FFS! i hope he wil lchange his mind tx for info weeeeew

  • Damn hard to believe this is 19 years old.

  • Remember hearing "Streetcleaner" for the first time in 1990...wow...and, to incorporate a drummachine in a "metal" - band was almost blasphemy then! Real free spirits, brilliant music.

  • They should have put out a Live Lp this sounds incredible.

  • the best. i sure do miss them. They are really needed now cuz sum music sucks today.

  • Best industrial metal song ever.

  • hard to believe this is 20 years old

  • what song is this? it's so good!

  • Christbait Rising

  • muy bueno

  • I still blast Streetcleaner and the Peel Sessions to this day!!!

  • i wish they'll return

Danke an alle Beteiligten ...

  • the whole show is like an hour or so long. its awesome.

  • FUCK please tell me there is more of this footage. I saw them in 1991 they started the set with love is a dog in hell fucking amazing.

  • DON'T HOLD ME BACK

    THIS IS

    MY OWN HELL!!

  • Guys, got somethin to share - just discovered the best way to approach dark and crushing music such as these to have fun and joy with it.

Pointers from bluesman John Lee Hooker (correct me if I'm wrong) - "Blues maybe abt feeling low, but you gotta feel good playin' it" Hmmm maybe we can ask more about this from Justin himself?

  • TRUE PIONEERS

  • good for you - guess who made this show available? I have 2 more you whiney keyboard hack :p

  • bwhitmer, fear factory are great fans of godflesh, they were inspired by G. Burton often wears godflesh t-shirts and speaks about their godflesh influences. Just like mike patton during the angel dust era. Anyway, no need to mention poor fear factory here, what happened to them now?... So, think again who's the copy. Don't f**k with the biggest. This video is a killer!

  • This album is pure fucking nihilistic destruction. They need to make a special re-release like they did with the Carcass records. I think the Flesh deserves it. A classic from beginning to end.

  • Fear factory copy? It's the way around if anything.

  • This is godly...the performance, sound quality, camera work...I feel like I'm there (and wish that I was)! Thanks for posting!

  • great band... fear factory copy these guys? lol

  • Clássico!!!

  • fuckin 'A'. Christbait rising. This is so fucking brutally heavy, and back in 1990 when this was done nobody sounded like this in the field of extreme metal, other bands were grinding away at 1000 mph,Godflesh's drones were were just as heavy as those riff thrashers. And this also had another ingredient that made it even darker: Authentic Industrial. Thanks for the upload!

  • F... David Kopperfield, or however you spell him, this is true magic!

    I just can't stop watchin'.

  • HELL YEAH!

Rawer than the rawest rawest raw can get!

  • Sonic beauty at its finest.......

  • STREET CLEANER

There will always be a great feeling listening to this album from the alpha to

    the omega

    magic meets human mind

  • for fucks sake UPLOAD THE REST OF THE SHOW

  • Is it me, or does Justin always just look like he's broken his neck when he headbangs? Gotta admit, he looks pretty floppy.

  • Excellent vid.

Godflesh is just immense and DENSE!!

That noise keeps me awake for hours and hours.....

I saw them only once back in 2001 I think supporting SYL in London or something. So many epic songs.

Good quality vid too, nice one.

  • rest of the show please

  • the spirit is willing and the 'flesh is fucking heavy!

  • Woah this is "apocalyptically" awesome...

JK looks scrawny but weilds one mean guitar. In fact his playing remind me of electric Neil Young (one-note solos power!) in Black Sabbath-meets-Swans context. Ben Green striked me with a John Entwisthle presence too. Though not dexterous, his basslines were huge, powerful and crushing.

In my conclusion, LONG LIVE THE FLESH

  • just magic! saw them in Brixton about 1988, mad gig. this is just two guys and a drum machine remember! the missing link between metal and punk (with a good kick up the arse from Napalm Death admittedly).

  • this is so awesome.... my favourite song of Godflesh

  • Fucking hell, the quality of the footage/ audio is so good.... But I rather remember them like this. Just one clip that blows everything away. Too scrared that other footage will disapoint....... Godflesh = God

  • Anyone knows the title of this song?

  • 'christbait rising' on streetcleaner lp

  • what's benny doing these days?

  • It would be a very polite act of the owner of this footage to put it to the youtube as a whole.

Please, do not make us wait any longer.

  • Excellent. Now where's the rest of the show? Please!

  • man, please where is the rest!!!!

  • amazing.

  • saw them supporting Loop and lost hearing for a week. lordy.

  • It's kinda funny watching a short skinny bald guy growling like that, heh.

    Goflesh is pretty cool though

  • Short? Justin's about 6'2".

  • Heh whoops now that you mention it he really doesn't look short after all... my bad :)

  • Awesome brought back memories

  • WHOLE SHOW WHOLE SHOW

  • my idols!

    ever!

  • Thanks!!! Justin rules!! Great footage.

  • theez guys were the fkn heaviest thing i heard back in 91-92, corroding/atmospheric! dark and introspective. would also request to see this whole show uploaded. i never got to see them come to my part of the world. fkn brutal. their self titled debut "Godflesh" & Streetcleaner - nothing heavier, and very unique at a time when industrial music was faster tempo, these guys hit ya with the brickload. cheers.

  • Industrial at its finest!

    Justin is GODFLESH!

live paranoid! daze of the drum machine!

  • punk rock

  • requesting full show please!

  • fucking awesome

  • kickass

  • Great, punx and metalheads together. You don't see that often anymore.

  • Godflesh!!!

  • I have tickets for the San Francisco show for the USA leg of the Anthem tour... 3 days(?) before the show Justin called it quits...

I was pretty fucking crushed.. which somehow, in a grand way is a fitting final message from my favorite band

  • Great job getting this video up!

This is one fucking important band historically!

  • thank you for uploading this ... i missed the oppurtunity to see them live in 91 and their danzig tour of the states

  • I saw them 20.3.-92 at tullikamari,Tampere. I have not washed my ears since then. This is a band to remember. Anyone seen them live should be considered a lucky bastard. This vid has remarkable sound compared to its age. Thank you for this!

  • lol that fukin rocked.

  • Godflesh one of the best bands ever!

  • Many hails for putting this up!!!

  • Fuckin amazing! Heavy as fuck.. id love to have seen them live

  • Go G C Green and J K Broadrick!

  • Godflesh still kicks ass! Thre was no other band like Godflesh! None of these so called metal bands can hold their jock strap!
