Thank you for the video. I am a Christian and we do not celebrate Christmas because it is a replica of a pegan holiday. The Bible tells us not to do as the pagans do. So our family would like to celebrate the biblical holidays or the holidays in the Torah. I know the stories but not the customs. Do you know of any good books that might help or perhaps a web-site? I don't get it. All it is is a celebration of a lamp not burning out. whereas, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ.

Chanukah became big because of commercialism. It used to be small but kids were getting jealous of everyone else getting presents so it slowly developed into a larger holiday. Also the real meaning is showing that G-d is on our side as the oil that was supposed to last for one day lasted for eight until more oil arrived.

Rabbi Im confused, was it the Syrians or Greeks that outlawed torah reading? And the driedal was used for gambling to cover the reading of the torah in the caves right?

Actually they were Hellenized Syrian who outlawed the Torah reading. And yes, the dreidel made it look like they were playing games, while secretly studying Torah. There are also other deep and mystical meanings of the dreidel, which I won't go into here.
