Whether an animal is used for food or clothing is of no importance to the animal being slaughtered or skinned alive, so who cares what happens to it after it dies. If I had a choice to pick a coat made by stepping on the animal's head or electrocuting it, OR picking up a roadkill raccoon that has been rotting and has fleas and take the coat off of it, I wouldn't want a fur coat at all.
