@trekranger a good number of carvers use bass wood... Its pretty expensive the larger the pieces. I use Sycamore predominantly, but i also use tulip poplar, basswood, Walnut, Maple, White pine, Cedar, Aspen, Birch, Sumac, Mulberry and other various found wood...
I understand fully why you would not " sell" your pieces. The average Joe or Jill has no idea how we all put our heart and soul into the things we make. I have not " gone commercial" with my art yet either..because a piece of us goes into what we make. Great work...would love to know where your shows are..please let me know.
