@cookyerowndamneggs I try to wait at least one day before coloring. Just to make sure the ink settles into the paper as much as possible. But I've also colored right after. The paper quality also has an effect on how well the ink dries and sets into the paper with little to no bleeding when colored over.
@elitealex1 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! The pressure of holding the brush to the paper is very important to get the right thicknesses for sure.
@mrjack1345 Pen? If you mean the ink one, it's a brush dipped in ink and I get the brush (Raphael Kolinski #0) from the Joe Kuberts School art store (~$20). But you can get them elsewhere including online of course. The ones I color with are Copic markers (~$4ea), I get them online, but you can get them at some art/craft stores.
hmm i'm considering getting copic markers (just a gray set or something to gray scale my stuff like Adam Hughes) what do you suggest, warm gray, toner gray, neutral gray, cool gray [oh my brain hurts =/
i was thinking about getting toner gray but i'm not sure
@sirmousalot11 I don't know what to recommend whole heartedly since I use them all...^^; I haven't tried just tonal work yet, so I wouldn't know what I'd prefer over the other. Maybe try cool and warm so you can use both in one image...to help distinguish the clothes, skin, hair etc more from each other? The cools and warms adds 'color' to the tonal work...while tonals and neutrals are more 'neutral'.
@sirmousalot11 Cont... You can always start off with the same 3 of each version. I 'skip' a number when I color in groups of 3. (with the greys) ie. N2, N4, N6...C2, C4, C6...etc. Hope some of that helps!
@wickidbear Thanks! In this video it's a Raphael Kolinski #0 brush dipped in Pelican ink. May need some practice before diving in the first time....it's not the same as a 'regular' pen. ;)
Very nice! I always love your ink work and the burton Bat symbol was a nice touch but syncing your vid up to music was hilarious. The ink on and ink off haha classic.
Thank you! And since I don't draw him much...it's actually the only bat symbol I know. ^^;
Thanks for taking note of the inking on/off and such syncing. It plays out best when you have the right music for it...which doesn't happen much unless you go looking for it.
It also takes much more time and effort to do it when editing, buuuuut it pays off when someone like you points it out. ;)
Dude I almost wet my pants out of excitement. Batman is my favorite hero of all time! Well... depending on how he's drawn but lol seriously, when I saw this I was sooo syked! You are too awesome and that ending was hilarious. So suggestive! Lmao! If possible I'd give you more than 5 stars.
Hehhehe...yay a Batman fan appreciating my only Batman sketch card! XD If you follow me on twitter, you'll get an update as to when I sell him to the highest bidder. ;)
(Along with the past 5 and 8 coming up...including a few that didn't make the video-cut.)
Thanks again for the kind and honest words! Happy Holidays to you as well!
It's usually I get commissions (paid to draw a given character) then draw them. But I have a group of them I did for a convention I went to last October and now I have leftovers to sell. ^^; But I use Youtube to have fun with the videos, not to 'sell' them. And the videos are not part of the original commission, just something I like to do if time and tools allow.
Thanks! I haven't drawn since October though. I just don't draw much. This batch of 15 or so are from October...I'm just now getting to editing them. ^^: My next drawing 'session' is next month. XD
I ink with pelican ink...not watercolors. I learned to use the brush at Joe Kubert school (I used to use micron when I was younger). The brush lends itself better to me....I like how I can handle thin to thick lines and stuff. XD I tried Microns again, but the lines aren't as smooth for me.
The two are two different looks and feel. I don't believe one is better than the other. It just depends on what you're going for in style and method...and just what you're comfortable with.
l hope when Bruce comes back from limbo and once again dons the cape and cowl, l hope that he's wearing the emblem that u'vu depicted in your drawing!
where did you get these awesome cards or did you draw them???? answer plzz

This is incredible, I just envy at how you can manipulate the brush so well.
I can just imagine myself making fat lines where i want them to be thin :)
This is definitely one of my favs!
