  • oh my god David licking his lips... he's trying to kill me x___x

  • @DanikaJadeee Preach it! They are very attractive, and not to mention geniuses.

  • surprising David says there isn't much rapport in the studio. Even if there wasn't you'd think they'd just be cagey about talking about it openly. Also bring it home just how likely the split was.

  • They've got to be the poshest band ever.

  • during that time they were working on Meddle.

  • Why does Gilmour have to be so charismatic...

  • Everything around me has been pretty fucked up for a few weeks but when I start watching some Floyd videos I feel like a little happy kid and I love it!

  • when I grow up Im gonna let m hair and gonna grow a beard like

    Nick Mason

  • David Gilmour and Roger Waters---Beauty and the Beast

  • I love how over 80% of comment under this interview are about Floyd's appearance not music or that what they're talking about ;p

  • The creative tension is apparent during the discussion regarding the report among members whether onstage or in studio. Was there a bit of deference or mutual consideration during that initial response? It's a pleasure to note there is a warrant for each opinion as well. The alchemy of this band is still amazing. Refreshing to hear statements from them all, especially Mr Wright about improvisation showing how integral he really was to PF. Tedious seems a bit off when patient or diligent is app.

  • A young David Gilmour looks very much like Leonardo DiCaprio. I am astonished at the resemblence !

  • Rick is on speed or something

  • I love this video! Wish I were a time traveler.............

  • What did DG say at 2:15, "not really..." ?

  • This reminds me of Spinal Tap :-)

  • they talk about meddle right

  • Rick is adorable! -3

  • I could never be this reporter, because I would just look at David Gilmour's LIPS!!! hahahaha

  • Listen to my MUSIC on my CHANNEL or you're going to Hell!!! :D

  • Why does it matter if the majority of you think they look dirty? That doesn't change that I think Gilmour and Waters are some of the msot attractive men ever, and not to mention the band makes incredible music.

  • @DanikaJadeee I second that attractiveness statement and that they make the most incradible tunes to ever exist. It's almost unreal.

  • @DanikaJadeee I second that attractiveness statement and that they make the most incredible tunes to ever exist. It's almost unreal.

  • @DanikaJadeee

So you think Waters is one of the most attractive men ever?? I think it is one ugly motherfucker/

  • @DanikaJadeee

So you think Waters is one of the most attractive men ever?? I think it is one ugly mf

  • @DanikaJadeee

So you think Waters is one of the most attractive men ever?? I think it is one ugly m*f

  • Two comments: Was Spinal Tap completely based on Pink Floyd interviews and, really, why focus the camera on anyone else besides David? They can all talk as much as they want, but why waste precious film on anyone else but him?

  • Every group needs a leader in the studio; yes, it creates tension but it is absolutely necessary. Pink Floyd was no different--Roger took the lead because it was necessary for him to do so. Without his vision, you would have had a string of albums like The Division Bell--very pleasant to listen but nothing to distinguish it from other pleasant albums--whereas Darkside of the Moon, The Wall, Animals are visionary. I doubt if any musicians look to A Momentary Lapse of Reason for inspiration.

  • this is not fair, God I asked you to be David Gilmour, not darthsadic.

  • Please read all 3 comments couldn’t fit in one: Great archival footage thanks for posting this classic. It is interesting to see that Richard Wright during this era of Floyd is seemingly acting as the band's front man. It is a shame that sometimes in life things just don't always end up as they were meant to be.

  • This is not to say that Mr. Wright didn’t enjoy a career that most of us can only dream of however I think if Roger didn't harbor such resentment towards Rick Wright nearing the time of The Wall that Rick Wright may have been able to flourish more during their final years together as a band. He was obviously very talented.

  • As Gilmour has stated so eloquently after Rick's passing stating that he was a cornerstone of Floyd's sound during their greatest work namely Dark Side of the Moon and often didn’t receive the recognition that he deserved often in the shadow of Waters and Gilmour. This video IMHO plays great homage to Richard Wright and his obvious influence during the golden age of Pink Floyd.

  • David Gilmour, the most beautiful man ever!!!

  • gilmour has oil in his hair :P

  • roger looks peruvian but white

  • I was hoping to see and hear 4 geniuses of music by clicking this video, and what do I see on the first seconds ? An advertising on the new album of lady gaga... Shit is everywhere, this is scary.

  • Have you ever heard a more stinking pretentious pile of dog's mess? No wonder Syd pissed off. They look like they smell, too.

  • my favorite musicians

  • roger take me now!!!!!!

  • amazing that they wanted to move in to theatrical performances 8 years before they did

  • timeless, spacious, ageless quality - indeed David, indeed, you guys are wonderful

  • Roger was always a power hungry, paraniod personality. Always wondering whos is in command. And bickering about it here without coming straight out.

  • this lady knows her shit

  • you can't help but wince when you see those evils between roger and david...

  • Amazing men...without them music would not be the same... David is sooo beautiful....

And Rick, with those eyes...like an angel :)) Rest in peace, king! <3

  • They were very mature when they talked, "artist" now cant talk like that, and made a shity album in 2 days

  • I am a woman who wishes i was born with lips like Davids........beautiful.

  • Oh, Roger.....why are you so beautiful?

Am I the only one here??

  • @TheFloatingBox

    yes you are. Haha

  • @TheFloatingBox not at all:-) I've always had the hots for him

  • idk why, but I like it when Gilmour says 'yes' at 1:17

  • Roger is so beautiful!!

  • Was the album they were talking about here the one that became Meddle? :)

  • @TheDarkFrontier Yep, Meddle.

  • British men are so cute!

  • now THIS is Pink Floyd. all we need is Syd....

  • @ROCKzini Yeah, actually, it's pretty spammy.

  • Gilmour is God. Look at him.

  • Gilmour hasn't aged a day!

  • GOOD INTERVIEW! FLOYD AT THEIR "HEARTS OUT" - RARE. GOOD JOURNALIST. GO AUSTRALIA. AND HARD EFFORT!

  • i bet you anything, they are all high lol

  • Wow ..David was really beautiful ..

  • HOW FUCKING HOT IS RICHARD!

  • Their voices are so beautiful

  • Howdy, BrokenChair88 here, writing to you from one of my many backup accounts. Remember me? The Pink Floyd wrote "Dogs" guy? Oops, sorry for accidentally saying that Pink Floyd wrote...well you know, being that that's the reason why you blocked me. There seems to be something in those four harmless words that seems to drive you to the point where you will deny someone their freedom of speech. Fair, huh? Anyway, I hope you will come to realize the irrationality on your part in blocking me.

  • It's actually quite nice to see a band comprised of opinionated individuals. Nothing's more boring and fake than watching interviews where each member fellates other and they all agree on everything the other one says.

  • Rick is hotter than David in my opinion. Rick has such an angelic face, even with the beard and long hair.

  • Pink Floyd always appear as if though they were great to interview. Their answers were direct and they always looked the interviewer right in the eye.

*Sigh* David Gilmour has the juiciest lips.....eat your heart out Mick Jagger.

  • My take from this interview and seeing Rick singing Echoes on Live at Pompeii tells me that early on he was very self confident and assertive of his talents. But perhaps those who wrote less than other band members got relegated to lesser status. And who knows what went on behind scenes? Maybe Roger belittled him enough to shake that confidence, and he no longer dominated interviews or felt he could really speak for the band. I'd like to hear from you if you've read the bios and know better.

  • @Fendergreats19933 =- i would build a time machine go back in 1971 just to shout out David................and Roger too!!! XD

  • i really hate progressive commercials.... but i love pink floyd

  • HOW FUCKING HOT IS DAVID! Its rediculous how excited I am over this video lol!!

  • 1971 - A vintage year! (Okay, it's the year I was born)... I grew up with their music and now 40 years later, it still has the same effect on me! It's classic and, in my heart at least, will never grow old or outdated!

  • @kimberlyclarkday Aha! So you weren't making out to their music like we were, then! Never mind, as long as you caught on later ;)

  • to rooster 5500 i just watched a rolling stones dvd directed by martin scorcesse

They are so talented its freakin nuts

  • Do these guys sing?

  • @Jayess007 Yeah, except nick mason (the drummer)

  • @Jayess007 Rhetorical question? If not: Yes, Roger Waters and David Gilmour both sang, and Rick Wright often did the background. Read the description to find out who is who.

  • Wow 10 years before i was born but they have impacted my life in so many ways. Thumbs up if you agree

  • Pink floyd the greatest sound ever ,,,DAVE IS GOD

  • Funny how they were talking about Meddle on the brink of its release.

Nearly 40 years later, Green Is The Colour is still my favourite song of all times. I've never heard anything remotely as beautiful as it is.

Cymbaline & Cirrus Minor are still amongst my favourites. David is still my favourite musician and I'd sell my soul to see him live.

Long live Pink Floyd & RIP Richard Wright.

  • i would build a time machine go back to 1971 just to shout out

David ! You Are So Sexxy Marry Me !

  • why hate or judge a man cause of his hair. before u talk shit make albums that have sold millions, be influential in music and lives of millions, make tons of money, and be inducted both in the u.s. and u.k. hall of fame then talk shit especially about a mans hair u dumb shit.

  • @kalen486 Whoa. Who are your comments directed to? If myself, then you'll note that I am the one who has posted the video up here for your enjoyment, so obviously I don't "hate" him or them. Chill, Phil.

I was actually making an ironic comment on what seems to me a finnicky complaint (in light of their excellent output at the time) by those "judging" him for having unwashed hair. Bad scalp health can lead to premature baldness, but cannot be the cause of male pattern baldness as it is genetic.

  • @bikiniatoll

Not washing your hair makes you go bald ? Really?

  • @elegantcosmos Yep. Resulting bacterial growth on the scalp can lead to thinning.

I was obviously just kidding about Gilmour, btw.

  • rick wright kinda looks like mick foley wwf. RIP rick

  • For Rick Wright to remind you of Mick Foley is hilariously tangential, like saying bread looks like bricks. Thanks for sharing, man.

  • @bikiniatoll well sometimes bread do look like bricks

  • @kalen486 Rick Wright doesn't look like Mick Foley. Mick Foley looks like Rick Wright.

  • David you're a genious, but come one, wash your hair!

  • @jonpaulmoen I agree with all of that, the amount of David vids I watch and think jeez when was the last time you washed your hair!!!!! HAHA Still gorgeous though even with dirty hair!!!!! :)

  • @jonpaulmoen dont worry about it now he has no hair anymore its all the music

  • @jonpaulmoen @kalen486 Obviously his failure to wash his hair in his rebellious youth has led him to become a bald old establishment man.

  • they seem so confused lolol

and david acts like a king of all knowlege, takes a sip before every response

  • @jrcsgtpeppers that's not David drinking that's Rick Wright! Davids on the far right and has no drink!

  • Is that Sonia Humphrey doing the interview?

  • @rjthmson110253 Don't know: who is Sonia Humphrey?

  • Where was a multi track choir on Meddle?

  • @traviskearney Hi - I imagine he's referring to the bit on "Echoes", near the end, where you hear several voices doing a sort of "ahhhh" thing, (and the notes climb, but I think the voices are staggered so that you get that effect where you feel the pitch is rising but yet you "never get to the top"). I guess you could call that a mutitrack choir ?

  • Wouldn't it be great if the interviewer asked, "Can I ask a practical question at this point? Are you going to do Stonehenge?" and Roger went, "NO! Were not going to fuckin do Stonehenge!"

    LOL!

  • David Gilmour is the best

  • I don't see why people like the rolling stones , Pink Floyd on the other hand , well

um , I'll phrase it this way , the universe was made so they could play music in it .

They are universally creamy . I just know there are little green men flying around up there , listening to Floyd .

Sheer magnificence . Cosmic Rhythm , stellar elegance , you get the jist .

  • My God, Roger looks like a Crazy Horse.

  • u buttheads didnt know who was gilmour back then... i know it takes time to be an icon... it takes time... but in 66,,,, we all knew it then.... he was inseperatable....... Hey MR DAVID GILMOUR.... I WAS BORN IN *66 BEEN UR FAVORORITE FAN SINCE THEN.... I would love to meet u someday please look me up misterbilly100@yahoo.com....Please come to my house for dinner.... I feel like I owe you .. You've been pleasing me for years.....

  • lol david is so cute and shy :3

  • jhiojhjpojkpokp[k

  • wow its true English dudes have bad teeth but their music is genius

  • @shartne Yes, and still today they earn million of dollars and they don't play together. Perpetual income they call it. Roger is on tout todat doing The Wall. He always said that money was the idea. Hense the song "Money"

  • @shartne well at least they're not morbidly obese just like many of us are, unfortunately. I'm American.

  • Yes...quite frankly...we're all going to have a good smoke after this chat...

  • Either theres tension between them during this interview, or perhaps there was some tension in the hours before the interview, becasue you can just feel it. Especially during the "power of veto" discussion and Dave talking about the "battle" that is working in the studio. Definately a subtle glimpse of things to come.

  • @justAFaceOfThecrowd

You're right but I think that is just the way they made music. Even though it gave us some of the greatest music ever created, it's a method that always ends in conflict.

  • @justAFaceOfThecrowd

totally! tension is thick in this vid. They're on the defensive about their musical talent and accusations about recorded equipment vs. live performance or something. they also seem quick to argue with eachother - like they need a BREAK from one another !

  • @electronictrip With that much talent I'm sure it's hard to agree on everything. I got the same feeling you did, but they still made one heck of a band. A reunion tour would definitely bring out my wallet for excellent tickets!

  • verdammt ich liebe Roger!

  • Wow, the sound is so clean!

  • gracias a ellos mi vida cambio viva pink floyd

  • David was so gorgeous

  • @keepyourguns David? HECK, ROGER WAS!!! ^^

  • 02:00 gilmour nails the floyd ethos "timeless ageless spacious moods ... atmospheric"

  • fearless has a "choir" at the end ;)

  • intelligent lads they were.

  • soo well spoken they must have been the poshest band ever

  • lol !! and KINGCRImson !!

  • Oh dear David was gorgeous, I wasnt even born when this was done! is it weird to lust after a guy that is NOW nearly 40 years older????????

  • So what was the name of the album in the making eventually?

  • @LaPieinsky meddle

  • @LaPieinsky meddle

  • @LaPieinsky Meddle, and in my opinion, their best album

  • Here are some b&w photos I shot while I was on stage at a PF concert in 1970 in San Diego - Google cacheagency. Once there, click on "Photographers and Collections", then on Jeff Allen, (the photographers are alphabetical) scroll to the bottom of the page and click on page 6. Enjoy and I hope you like them. You can also see one of my PF photos in the Roger Waters - Back to 'The Wall' article on page 53 of the Sept. 2010 Rolling Stone magazine.

  • @r1bikecam

great pictures of great artists :)

Man those must 've been some crazy years :) ,

wish I was born before ,

Is there any way ,how I can get those PF pictures (download?)?

  • I love David, he's so HOTTT

  • Where did you get this austrailian footage?

  • Where'd you get this austrailian footage?

  • @ledZep342 Think I cover that in the blurb....

  • David is Leo Di Caprio......and vis

  • 3:00 "Do you want to move into any theatrical field at all?"... This woman had some insight it would seem

  • haha Roger whispers "yes" to dave

  • @MrPinkZeppelin When exactly?

  • @bikiniatoll around 1:05

  • @bikiniatoll Thanks guys: got it.

  • @MrPinkZeppelin I think its Rick who whispers "Yes" at 1:04

  • @MrPinkZeppelin actually, i think that's Dave saying yes, but too quietly, hence him clearing his throat right after. but it does seem like Roger or someone is whispering it to him

  • Man ...hearing Nick saying we use to be not so sophisticated hahhha it is fine !!! Because in some years later they would become the most sophisticated band all times . Also Atom Heart mother ...they nor even knew how much it would be successful. And after , Dark side of the moon. It is strange to back to this time and see a calm and "Naîve " Richard Right speaking as a boy ....time !!!

  • david looks so pretty , i will marriage him !!!

  • "Are you working on anything?"

"Yes a new album we just finished it"

    "What's it called?"

*Roger tries not to crack up*

    "Um.. We don't know..."

  • You say 50Cent-I Say Led Zeppelin You say Miley Cyrus-I say AC/DC You say T-Pain-I say Deep Purple You say Flowers-I say Van Halen You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B-I scream Classic Rock You say hannah montana-i hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap.If you are part of the 30% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT rock die

  • @kikenhana fuck yeaahhh!!!!!!!!

  • @kikenhana the spirit of rock will never die, douche

  • @MrBloodsugarsexmagik Sounds like you two agree, shower.

  • Nice public schoolboys.

  • @joaoyoutuve

I doubt these people are capable of hate. Much less, hate for each other. All legal bullshit and human squabling aside.

  • Poor Pink Floyd - they spent so much of their time defending the legitimacy of their human musical talent. So awesome. they could fart into a can and make it sound cool.

  • @jootube10 Ah ah ah ah !!!!!

  • Richard looks freakishly like Brad D-D-Dourif here lol

  • This is very interesting, and I am very glad I found it. However, the whole time I found myself thinking one thing over and over: interviews are freakin' strange.

  • i love it when David looks onto the camera!!!

  • It seems everyone has been influenced in some way or another by the freaking Rolling Stones. Amazes me how long they have been around. I wouldn't be surprised to one day find out that George Washington grew up listening to the Rolling Stones.

  • Seeing these PF interviews from the 1970-1972 era makes you realize that they were dealing with a lot of critical questioning because of their use of electronics. It seems like tapes, synthesizers and new musical technologies were viewed with a certain suspicion for whatever reason by the press/music critics. It's almost like they had to fight the skeptics prove that their talent was authentic and not just a bunch of expensive gear.

  • @slevisman absolutely - you get the same sort of theme in some of the interview sections in "live at pompeii".

  • Of course decent young people hear decent rock n' roll bands... meaning: the old ones, mainly.

P.S.: And I have the ticket to the The Wall concert next 21st of March at Lisbon. First day of springtime - symbolic enogh.

  • too many words and hairs ;)

  • I knew it had to be MEDDLE based on the bands appearance with regard to photos on each album and the era. The choir with Ron Geesin for Atom Heart Mother had proved very difficult so they opted to streamline their approach. What's also very keen interest is the diverse individuals who make up FLOYD all worked on such experiments in unity of some sort!!

  • a power of veto, fuck me you got the veto in the end big time

  • gilmour has a funny face

  • great interview, it shows that they were very capable of being a thoughtful democracy. obviously later waters asserted himself lyrically and compositionally, and gilmour and others eventually felt it got a little too personal and self serving. gilmour- roger ruined pink floyd, waters final cut lyric- the high command took my daddy from me, or something like that, i heard the final cut once in 1983,lol. very revealing, a tough call, no wonder they did solo careers.

  • Gosh Richard, sort out that hair. Not good! And at least Waters did something about his teeth later in life.

Gilmour was a true guitar hero, even in 1971.

  • Why the fuck wasn't i alive then?! It just kills me to know that i'll never ever see them perform live. I feel so depressed now.....

  • @TheA340guy Roger does, I think he's touring America and Europe this year and next year.

  • Rick has never said so much and talking over Roger. This is a great interview.

  • I think they were talking of 'Nothings' which eventually was titled 'Meddle'.

  • I think that most of us male become gay watching the young Guilmour.

but i prefer the mature Waters ^_^

  • This for once is rather a good interview. Rick show's with clarity how he brought forth his working method. He is a bit unsure about how he got there, but it illustrates well how he contributed the to the unique Pink Floyd sound If they had been relatively unsuccessful for longer, and worked toward this end as a band as seen here; who know's they would have had a longer creative career rather than stringing things out.Sadly it seems you do these things when you are young, unless you're a Jazzo

  • imagine if david looked like that now there would be massive armani blliboards of him in his undies like beckham an ronaldo. i can dream

  • The Pink Floyd seem to be rather engaged with the interview. Usually they got bored and moaned about them in later biographies.
