  • This is one of the best, most beautiful, and most gruesome, of the "land" genre cartoons I've ever seen. Nothing redeems that pincushion man, not even an implicit sense of humor. Too bad he didn't get that little idiot kid.

  • ive seen 2 penis ballons so far..

  • Years iv been searching for this! finally found out! anyone know of another with the 'can can' song in it?

  • Is it just me, or does 1930s cartoon physics seem a bit off compared to, say, that of 1950s Looney Tunes?

  • Sigmund Freud would weep at the PCM

  • Pincusion Man--Bit of a prick, isn't he?

  • what was that christmas video what had this on.. i used to LOVE that video

  • Wonder if some enterprising independent film student will ever make a sequel? This drug-induced cartoon is just crying out for it. Bring Back The Pincushion Man!

  • god I love being in the weird part of youtube when I'm as baked as a patata

  • Lol "Comi Color?"

  • awesome movie!! ive just been looking for this for 4 hours and just found it now!!! so excited to watch!!

  • One of my fondest childhood memories, wierd considering I was a 90's kid

  • @Mizuki64

not that weird. they used to play old cartoons like this on late night TV I think. my parents recorded a bunch on vhs for me and my brother to watch. no idea why cause this shits creepy!!

  • Good god, Pepperland makes more sense than this place! I wish the Meanies would come to this place!

  • @kyon813

What makes you think the Meanies weren't spawned in this place?

  • @MsPandaRosa Good point.

  • So what would happen if Pincushion Man decided to stab the ground with a pin?

  • @JamesStarkweather is the ground made of balloons? or were just the people and the city and the trees? they dont really show the ground to move like a balloon. he does pop a rock when he first pops up

  • @JamesStarkweather Then God help us all.

  • my brother and i loved this one classic watched it alot.

  • When my boys were little ( 24yrs, 21yrs and 12yrs old now) this was one of their favorites cartoons!. If fact I love this funny cartoon. Classic, true classic!

  • This cartoon scared the sh!t out of me as a Kid. I was perhaps overly perceptive to the fact that the murdered balloon people weren't coming back. Still good memories. My gf didn't believe that a cartoon as I described exist, now she does, thanks uploader!

  • Now we're in hell, it finally happened.

  • @Leatherbubba

    MST3K fan? xD

  • @purplestang98

    Brought to you by LSD

  • Fans of the original Pee-Wee Herman Show know this cartoon all too well, as it was the cartoon the King of Cartoons showed in that version. Pee-Wee's Broadway show replaced Balloon Land with a Penny cartoon, which was stupid to do so. IMHO, if the Broadway show kept Mr. Bungle, they should have kept Balloon Land. But then again, that's just me opinionating.

  • Let me in! I'll get mad in a minute!

    LOL

I love this cartoon so much.

  • Dick balloons at :11 !

  • @edenfire

    LMAO!

  • kill em all Pin Cushion man

  • scariest time of my life

  • The baby alarm = genius.

  • The voice of pincushion man was the voice of veteran voiceover man Billy Bletcher. You may recognize him as the voice of Pete from the old Disney cartoons

Search youtube for Chip & Dale 1954 The Lone Chipmunks for a classic example.

  • @longmind I agree with you. The pincushion man does sound like Pete in "The Lone Chipmunks."

  • I never knew how great Ub Iwerks was

his stuff is so well made

  • OMG found this and we had it way back but in black and white, Think I am my sisters /brother were also tramitized by the pincushion man but we always watched it every time my dad got out those old black and white home movies. Thanks for the fun memory

  • I was traumatized by the Pincushion Man! For years all I remembered was how the pincushion man walked, and sometimes I would see him and it would be in my nightmares. Finally found the source of my trauma.

  • @thrisseh dude, with my brother, even now, we are scared

  • @thrisseh

Whew! My own traumas are pretty boring.

  • That balloon army was pretty hardcore. They settled the pincushion man's hash in a flash.

  • Just how did the PCM get up to Ballloony Land anyway?

  • @PandaMishima: By selling real estate - haven't you ever watched Arfenhouse?

  • Brought to you by LSD.

  • A metaphor for the fragility of life? Duh

  • Which of them misc. Cartoon Collections on DVDs that have either selections of 150, 200, 300, or even 600 cartoons have this Balloon Land cartoon on their selections? This along with many other classic cartoons I'd like to own on DVD. Ones that were not from WB, Disney, MGM, Paramount, or from any other major movie studio.

I remember this cartoon was shown on both that HBO Special; The Pee-Wee Herman Show and that CBS Saturday Morning kids show; Pee-Wee's Playhouse, back in the 80s.

  • I saw this for the first time back in the '80s. Still just as funny now as it was then. Lighten up people! This is fantasy, not reality. Plus, the bad guy gets it in the end.

  • @MichiganRockhound62

Who needs reality? This is the way life SHOULD be!

Wish I could trade a dozen flesh-and-blood evil doers for the Pin Cushion Man.

  • pin cushion man was merciless he put a pin in that old balloon's ass at 4:40

  • 0:12

  • Yes!!! I Had This Movie On A Vhs tape along with other old cartoons like this one and I couldn't find the tape! Thanks For The Upload! Good to see this again! :D

  • This is a very disturbing video.

  • so cute :D

  • Amazing, my father had this movie on 8mm movie when I was a kid, 40+ years ago. I don't remember it, but my younger sister does. Scary stuff when you're a kid

  • We really need to put the creepy back into animated films. Pixar's cool but think how much better the movies could be with unexplained LSD trip musical numbers

  • These cartoons are great I used to watch them all the time as a kid

  • I have this on a casper vhs from my childhood.

  • @comAtose4242 Same here! I loved these old cartoons so much

  • This cartoon is horrifying. Someone was on drugs.

  • At the title screen, look to your far right

  • @HyperSonicXtreme lol. good eye

  • @krucifixhorrorcore

    PINGAS!!

  • i loved these kinda cartoons as a kid...just wondering if there was a mixture of these short cartoons made onto one VHS?? i remember also watching a jack frost one with a little bear, aladdin and the magical lamp and there are a few others icant really remember...man its good to watch this, brings back memories.

  • Love the popping sound then his laugh! 2:10

  • The beginning theme is called 'Buffoon', which was originally a piano novelty tune by Zez Confrey in 1931. This version is possibly performed by Nat Shilkret. Sadly, both are uncredited. An orchestral version by the Hofstad Youth Orchestra Association (Vereniging Hofstads JeugdOrkest) can be viewed here -- /watch?v=3avD7Md0VyM -- and briefly by ragtime pianist Frederick Hodges here -- /watch?v=Rf2leusklzk#t=6m20s

  • I just saw a clip of this in an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000!!! LOL

  • Am I the only one who wanted the pin cushion man to win?

  • @incrediblehulkmovies

No, at least on on the Youtube board. PINCUSHION MAN ROCKS!

  • @PandaMishima Thank you!

  • I just noticed something. In one or two scenes in which the pincushion man confronts the children, he grabs onto the big spike (that sticks out of his cushion) like he's groping his dick. THE PINCUSHION MAN IS A PERVERT, AND QUITE POSSIBLY A CHILD MOLESTOR.

  • @TheWickedSmile

Nah, his only interest in the kids is the POP! they'll make when he jabs them.

  • @TheWickedSmile I agree

  • Ah, I watched when I was about four, I've always enjoyed old cartoons.

By the way, does anyone know a cartoon where this girl is sick, and her doll tries to help her?

  • @mcr15558

It sounds vaguely like a Raggedy Ann cartoon, R Ann is pining away for R Andy, who'd wandered off with a pretty Spanish doll, but he returns in time for them to both get properly named.

There's another cartoon about a little blind girl who find R Ann and learns to "see with her heart", ie the sounds in her neighborhood, hope this helps.

  • damn !! so long time =)

  • Some people are just as cruel and evil as the pincushion man! They have no respect for life. The Pincushion man is definately a terrorist!

  • I watched this as a child. The pincushion man really frightened me.

  • @Ingsiemens I see why!

  • his ass let him out im glad he popped him cause if it was me lets just say he go be best friends with jesus

  • ahh that cartoon can't be scary to me! it's wonderful!

  • This cartoon was so scary when i was kid..and it still freaks me out kinda....

    :D

  • They should remake this but a live action movie where people aren't balloons. The Pincushion Man could be the name of the villain in a live action full length film remake and he's popping not just balloons but bubbles blown by people as they are chewing bubble gum.

  • this shit is trippy

  • @voltron747 no kidding. I first saw this on the original Pee Wee Herman's Playhouse.

  • @btstv

he showed it when he did his stage show in L.A.

  • Man this is funny! I allmost pissed my pants laughing XD

  • The song sounds like wurliTzer 153's I still love you

  • Added this to my 1935 playlist, one of 120 music playlists that let you relive the sounds of any year from today back to the 1880s as if you were there.

It's a trip back in time with just the click of your mouse !!!

  • woo, that's sounds nice! I check it out immediatly. Do you made it public?

  • You bet my 400 playlists are public! With most channels, the uploaders post music they hope others will like.

On my channel, I have organized and compiled the uploads in a format I hope people will like: 120 playlists by specific year & over 250 playlists for specific artists, so whether it's Beach Boys or Ray Conniff, I have nearly all the posted videos for those artists on my playlists. You can hear most of the songs for an artist on continuous play or import to your own channel. Enjoy !!

  • omg this cartoon used to scare the shiz out of me as a child! For some reason it randomly popped inot my head today so I thought I'd search it. Crazy how differently things look watching it through adult eyes.

  • Haha, I remember this when I was younger! The PinCushion Man is totally awesome! <3 Thanks so much for uploading!

  • I saw this when I was little. Was looking it up and didn't realize it was going to be so easy to find. :)

I'm also trying to look for these old cartoons I saw when I was little. There was this one cartoon where there's a little girl and boy orphan looking thorugh the window of pastry food. Can't remember much else, but I loved it.

  • I just searched for that cartoon with poor children, I think that's In The Dreamland

  • what do you mean "the dreamland? is that a series?

  • That cartoon with little girl and boy looking through the window of pastry food you mentioned, I think that's 'Somewhere In The Dreamland' from 1936.

  • I have that Cartoon you're talking about! It's on a VHS with 6hrs of cartoons, the one you're talking about is called "Somewhere In Dreamland" and it can be found on here. There's other Noveltoon and Max Fleishcer cartoons on here too like "An Elephant Never Forgets" or "Small Fry"

  • Cultural History Footnote: at 4:04, the guard starts to say "yooooou naaaaaasty maaaaan!" which was a catchphrase of a radio comedian named Joe Penner who was very popular at the time. This would have been an immediately recognizable reference to the audience in 1935 (the year this cartoon was made, and the peak of Penner's brief career), but unfortunately the guard gets popped before he can finish saying it!

  • I'm stunned over this pre-psychedelic Balloon -Wonderland. That was at a time, where Disney still kicked asses! And Ub Iwerk is the man.

  • This is such an excellent copy of balloonland. I have'nt seen this cartoon in yrs :)

  • The Pincushion Man is cool!

  • mamma mia ricordiiiiiiiiii

  • great picture quality on this version....the best available on youtube, up until now.

  • The Pincushion Man sounds like the Big Bad Wolf.

  • That's because it's the same guy doing the voice- namely, Billy Bletcher.
