'From inside, her Idiot Madness spoke' I think this is pretty good lyricism, though I hate the part 'I believe that being sick is no excuse'...
As a song of feelings of deep personal resentment, retribution for the nadir the ineffable tragedy of Solanis and SCUM... you can hate the song, but it makes an impact... )O(
I know the song expresses a horrible sentiment, but I still appreciate it for the sheer emotion Lou expresses. Lou really...how shall I say it..."disliked" Valerie Solanas.

i do not know if this is lou's actuall opinion. the whole premiss of this album was to make a biografy about warhol giving only his point of view. even if warhol is talked about in the song, it might be his lawyer talking. expecially if he his depicting the number of steps
I'm not sure there is really anything wrong with wishing death upon someone like Solanas. In fact, a vitriolic song like this is appropriate to me considering that Solanas only got three years for a cold blooded action that affected Warhol for the rest of his life.
I'm a huge Lou fan, but I thought that with such a topic, he would've done something better than "Jeez that bitch should've just died herself"
I mean, a genius like Lou wrote this? I don't really believe it
Andy's death must've been one of the worst things that happened to the crowd and I'm not even capable of understanding their loss, but making a song all about wishing death upon someone else isn't... right, for lack of a better word. Even if it is Valerie Solanas.
@Hister333 no I'm aware he can be a jerk, I've seen his interviews, and I know he loves his apathetic junkie vibe, but making a song like this is some kind of closure...
@genericusername337 He rhymed "vial" with "vile." And she didn't kill Andy, she did worse. She killed the Factory. I wish I could've killed her myself.
@genericusername337 I don't think Lou & Andy left on good terms...so for Lou to be defending Andy in such a way, well, I think it speaks to how much Lou did valued him.
yeah, actually.. the lyrics are stupid and boring. i have always thought he was a wise man, but wishing solanas death just because she shot his mate...
and besides the lyrics ,the music's just insufferable too..
I'd hardly call Warhol his "mate". Warhol enforced a singer Nico on them they didn't want, and they fired Warhol after a year... Reed's still objective about Solanis being a nut and wishing her dead
@hustoni I did know that (part of why I hate Warhol) , still you can read everywhere how angry and miserable was after this episode. they were friends actually, or at least they were pictured everywhere as they had a really close friendship
As the lyricist has pointed out, the drug known as "white light" or "white heat" is notorious for driving people insane. Yes, speed makes people paranoid and hostile. The lesson here is, if you have a problem with sleepwalking, don't make your swimming pool into a shark tank, even if it's fun for the neighborhood kids.
How many times did MAD IDIOT Edie buy you lunch, Lou? She always picked up the tab, didn't she? The only way Lou can defend his own behavior is trying to defend Andy's. Andy paid speed freaks for being "interesting," filmed them high, said he'd make them stars. One was a high school dropout, age 17. No, Lou, he didn't TELL her to get drunk. He just put her in the Chelsea Hotel, where there was booze. Tempting booze, huh Lou?
Piechulla1966, if this had been written by anyone else, Id have dismissed it as sarcasm and condescension. I take these words as a sincere expression of concern, much appreciated.
Slamming V.S. should be easy. Feminist who hated all men. Had minor dispute with Andy. Also shot 2 innocent bystanders. YOU CANNOT CONTROL ME ANYMORE Is this the point you want to start with, Lou - that she was paranoid and maybe legally insane? HER IDIOT MADNESS Now shes insane and retarded too? SICKNESS IS NO EXCUSE Its like saying that femme fatales incapable of reasoning are worthless shit, like rock stars kneeling before the toilet and barfing their booze and pills.
aah, i'm so "déçue", from songs for drella , j'aurais tant voulu voir "on-line" ,"faces and names" ou "starlight open wide"ou des titres de 'magic-loss". en plus je m'appelle valérie !
well i like and agree

@genericusername337 sometimes it's good to be absolutist about certain things.
Or at least, it makes for a great song.

I believe it was a nice choice to have shot Warhol, now, she should've killed him. Anyway, a surgery did, HA-HA.
And I'm a big fan of The Velvet Underground, but this, this is bullshit, Lou!
haha.
