  • gud song.. :)

  • i'm 18.......these songs were sung and made even bfore i was born...i was not a gr8 fan of illayaraja sir probably bcos all d songs wer old & just like most of them of my age i ignored them over the present singers........but ....OH GOD...i heard this song when my mom was seeing mounaragam.....WHAT A SONG!!!!!!!i feel a waste of time not hearing this song..........thank u sir.......u made my day....

  • I have heard SOS long before I got to this song and I don't see the similarity. Further, nothing that ABBA did comes close to Raja's compositional wizardry on this song. After having heard a lot of rock and pop music, I can safely say very few of THEM can match Ilayaraja, let alone Tamil film music directors. He is a genius with few peers.

  • drums are bangin!

  • அருமை..அருமை.. இந்த பாட்டு கேக்க கேக்க அருமை!........................

  • @kdmbri - this song doesnt at all resemble much to tat song...i listened to it jus now..and tat song sucks!...this song is one of its kind and ilayaraja sir's best compositions...plsss stop spreading false information...and SPB has nailed it..and the video synchronises well with the music...OMGGG!!! I <3 <3 LUVVV ITTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...im 17 and i admire RAJA sir's works a lott!!! <3

  • ignore the comparisions, ignore if it is lifted from ABBA or wherever - doesnt matter. What matters is, what the song gives you. Just enjoy the song and get happiness, peace and warmth !

  • wounderful

  • i fell in love with Mohan in this movie.Such a perfect husband.slightly flawed but perfect as a whole package.

  • @iamrthiru Unmaithaan!

  • மண்ணில்

    மறைந்திருக்கும்

    வேருக்கு,

    மரநிழல் அருமை தெரியாது!

    மவுனத்தால்

    மறைத்திருக்கும்

    உன் மனதிற்கு,

    என் அருமை புரியாது!...thankyou for your complements.

  • With due respects to Raja... I feel this song is slightly inspird by Abba's SOS. The format of the song is the same... and the three descending notes light percussion 0:27 - 0:28 sounds very similar to the ones which follow "Where are those happy days ...they seem so hard to find"... in SOS....

  • When are we going to learn to stop comparing people....they are both great......For Heaven sake,,,,Enjoy the song.....

  • there may many arr in the world but one and only one illayaraja.

  • No one can match a music perfectly for a scene in the film like illayaraj and SPB to gether. How many agree to it?

  • @menfrombackyard agree

  • Stunning melody! SPB and Ilayaraja together again to deliver a soul touching song. This tune was repeated in 'Cheeni Kum' song recently.

  • Terrific Combination. Maniratnam, Raja Sir and SPB Sir. they are legends...

  • @ Vengetakhan

What F* happened to "Endhiran" Songs. ? This is in reply to you crude post.

Music is divine and the divinity is predominant in IR' compositions than ARR's. compositions.

  • my soul music 4ever

  • He's the god of music......

  • though we indians hav a lot of differences among us there were some who were able to appeal to make an impression on the greater masses alike like gandhi, sachin ,ir , arr, amitabh, kamal, raj kapoor,.hats off to them

  • please suggest some SIndian songs similar to Roja.THAnx

  • A nice song...by Raja sir

  • anda 60 days in bhubaneswar v watched this .....the most beautiful

  • I love the trumphet music. guess what i am 19, these songs came even before i was born. but i like these. illaraja is awesome. arrrahman is awesome. illayaraja = king of 1970s-90s arrahman 90s-present. both are awesome y is that every fucking video i go there are two dudes flamins each other over rajini/kamal , arr/illaraja, vijay/ajith....wtf is wrong with u guys.

  • @Vegetakhan chinnathambi raasaa aiyaa appuu unakku ulla arivu kooda antha padicha kalisadaiku illapaa, athaakitta sohli unakku suthipohdanum rasaa 100aandu nalaa iru mavuraasa but i m very upset with ur, why u didn't address the elders with respect illayaraaja thaathaa rajnikanth peria periappa kamal chinna periappa ajith peria maamaa vijay chinna maamaa arr kutty maamaa
  • Ilayaraja and A.R.Rehman have put tamil music on the world map. It would be unfair to compare the two for both are geniuses in their own right.. Stop bickering

  • medaiyai pole vazhkai alla...

    odaiyai pole uravum alla...

  • @MrYashwanth15 what does that mean? sounds beautiful.

  • evergreen song......excellent compositions from the god of music

  • I wasn't aware 'Cheeni Kum's title song was lifted off this.

  • @SKJB9499

not lifted off boss.. Its reused.. Both movies have music done by our Maestro..

  • Statements such as the jury had a sadist pleasure in watching the movie and presented the awards are ridiculous! .

Ilayaraja’s true class is exemplified in this song…. Lets enjoy the song…

  • Slumdog Millionaire truly deserved every award it won.. Dialogues, characterization, screenplay, direction were at its best… there couldn’t have been a better script for an Indian movie, I was truly amazed by how the picture captured Indian sentiments, every scene is crafted to perfection… yes, the music might not have been ARRs best, but still was perfect o the movie, a true artist never overpowers the requirements, most Indian actors tend to overpower their characters

  • nobody talk abt drums

  • illaiyaraja is always the best & is composition is the best for ever & ever. Very good picturisation in this movie. Excellent acting by Actor Karthick & Actress Revathi. Its makes us people to watch repeatedly.

  • wats a song

  • I dont mind what anyone thinks according to me both are good . Each of them represented there times . The heights reached by Ilayaraja cannot be equalled same with ARR . I personally just favour slightly Illayaraja more than ARR. I respect others opinion as well

  • AR Rahman got the Oscar for his worst music because it was a movie which showed that Indians have come out of shit like the lead actor does to come of the toilet to see Amitabh. Recession hit Americans loved it that Indians might be doing well in terms of growth rates, but look they are still starving and torturing their kids. Not saying that it's not true. But the movie won because it made the Americans feel "we are still better off."

  • @sappho01

also because the director is white.

i didn't think slumdog was a good movie either. acting was decent, not great.

and the music was not great.

i wish indians would just get the respect they deserve from the white half of the world.

  • @chowderandspoon Acting was just about average. Characterisation and choice of lead actors was not great either. A white man's hurried take on India, it's slums and poverty. Sometimes it takes another misery to lift us out of ours.

  • Isaignani Ilayaraja's composition, the meaningful lyrics of Vaali, the emotional rendering of this song by SPB, and the beautiful picturisation by P.C. Sreeram have immortalized this song for posterity.

  • i just dun get it, why is it when u guys praise Illayaraja songs u guys need to bring in A.R.Rahman and his Oscars ? Cant u find other ways to praise Illayaraja's songs? Why cant u all be matured to appreciate the composers songs as it is rather than comparing it with another composer's work? Why is it such? Please grow up!

Btw, this song is magnificent... It makes ur heart heavy... even after 24 years.... Great composition by the Maestro!

  • who said..u assols..ARR is not good..i am also a fan of this picture and Raja sir because he is the king of melody..but just think u fools..how many melodies have ARR created..(UYIRE UYIRE, ENNAVALE, EH AJNABEE.etc etc..) how many melodies..its unable to count..but he is also able to do fast numbers..thats his power.. its a good quality that he can make both melodies and fast numbers..instead of just sticking to melodies... TUNE should be created to the situation ..he is only one who do both.

  • /watch?v=TMUgockyL8k

  • i luv this song, acctly i heard this song in hindi films but in tamil version is original one...

  • Great music of Raja sir........

  • this is wot u call music.. learn it from... maestro ilayaraja...

  • one of my fav songs from my fav movie

  • I watched this movie at anand theatre with my sudane friend. Language was not a barrier for him and he was able to enjoy the movie. I am crazy about fiat.

  • manassei

Hello? Ellarom nu cumma generalize pannathinggal. :) Sure there are husbands out there just described in the lyrics. :) Never say never

  • illayaraja has better tunes then AR....AR has good recordings and shit. They both have their plus points. I was born in Rahmans era but I find illayarajas music so soooothing it is amazing.

  • Hard to compare with the 2.. IR his songs are everlasting.. No matter from which generation you are born try listening to his songs you find them unique and will continue to last in the coming years.. AR another genius whom revolutionised our generation and from AR we have lots of new music directors following AR, like Harris, and Devi Sri and many more.. IR has gone places and created records. AR has done the same too.. So that places both on equal standards.. :)

  • yeah man ,u r rite ...i tried most rock to gothic ..jazz ,punk rock ......but the peace is in one and only raaaaajaa...

  • Good song for a painful heart cryin in solitude

  • nice tune

  • hey i think A.R Rahman has loads of other songs in which he must be awarded the oscar. he has produced many good songs than jai ho...

  • @astrobalaji HELLO BALAJI. wat u have said is fine..... but always raja sir is greater than all musicians. even ar... bcoz in his songs, lyrics comes first and the music follows it...... but in ar songs music dominates, so u cant hear the lyrics. sry undrst the lyrcs right.......... raja is great... greater.......... greatest..............

  • @astrobalaji Totally agree dude.. there are so many excellent songs of both Ilayaraja sir and ARR, and compared to all those, Jai Ho was way behind.. its all just politics and marketing strategies.. The real listeners know who is the king of music.. No one can beat Raja sir..

  • ARR won an oscar for scoring in an english movie. BUT ILLAYARAJA won millions of hearts scoring tamil and other indian music. Who needs an oscar to say i am the best when u live in the memories of the millions. Why hype about wat is not indian. OSCARs no offence is for english movies and even if illayaraja had scored in english movies he would have doubled wat other music directors have won. Thank GOD we indians have talented music directors

  • Really? Can you give examples of songs that he has ripped off, and from where?

  • you are right.. but this cannot be taken as rip off.. it is inspiration... check out "love theme" by flash dance and compare it with Mouna ragam. nothing is common except the piano sound.

  • to rajamasala: check out dvorak's symphony and compare with raja's song.. i don't know why you claim that as a rip off.. same with ram bam bam, only common thing between the two songs is the GENRE. both belongs to Jazz..

  • Agree with you that he didn't take that much by volume out of Dvorak.

There are some songs in that list which are only partially derived, but Ram Bam Bam is full out inspiration. By the way, Bill Haley's Rock Round the Clock, as the title suggests, is not jazz, it's rock and roll. I'd ask you to go back and listen not for differences but similarities. You can buy a car and paint it a different shade, but it's still the same car.

  • yes.. it is rock and roll.. i misinterpreted it. by the way regarding rum bum bum, you used a bad analogy. there too if you hear the tune, only "rum bum bum" part is influenced, nothing more. what you say is right, in this way "Music is all about buying a car and painting it a different shade", isn't it?? thn you said "some songs are only partially derived". which are all the songs you mean to say as "ripped off???

  • Ram bam bam is ripped off or perhaps very, very, very allusive. Open your ears. If I can hear similarities between songs, you think Ilaiyaraja and his friends, all incredibly more musically knowledgeable than me, wouldn't? Please.

  • answers for your "ripped off"

    1. kanavu kannum- originally both MDs exchanged their respective songs. you can hear "ilaya nila", raja's work in hindi.

    2. there is no relation between mozart and "veetukku"

    3. same with mouna ragam.

    4. have you really heard "kan malargalin"??

  • hey get a life man.. if u are talking about flaws of people than all have.. i can tell u off records wat other songs other music directors copied but is that wat that is more impt. it might be just 1 portion of all their work might also be due to the external pressures. but if u can't define great and normal.. sorry too bad bro.. its u missing the boat.

  • So the fact of the copying shouldn't be noticed? Everything's squeaky clean? Seems a stupid attitude to observe, particularly if you want a proper appreciation of music. If you're just out to get pissed off at proper musical history though, this blindness and taking offense is a good way to go.

  • i miz my ex girl......mizzzzzzz uuuuu sooooo muuuuuuuchhhhhhhh....

  • haven't seen this movie fully, but can someone tell me why she is not happy in her marriage?

  • She had a lover and couldn't forget him.

  • he was an actor named Suresh but later she married suresh menon

  • You are speaking as if rahman is a muslim by birth !! BTW who the heck said that winning an oscar or some award is ultimate.May be for 4. Or do u think god loves only ppl who win maximum awards ;)

  • very true saintindian. oscar is nothing but a well marketed award. i am not claim arr is not good. but raja sir is just a foot ahead in my humble opinion.. nothing can touch like raja sir!

  • Comment removed

  • You are right oscar is a commercial oriented award. Some rich corporates get together to decide what they want to do just to get even more richer. when A R Rahman talks on the stage he tahnks Fox Corp where this corp is the most corrupted and ill-company. Having said that, i dont think A R Rahman is any less talented neither Illayaraja i think both are two different magnets

  • @bigreni lol nobody gives a fuck about ur humble opinion. the fact is illayaraja was at his best during his time and arr is best at moment. dont go fucking trolling bitch.

  • @bigreni very true...

  • Wow! wat a lovely song...my all time favourite :)

  • It is high time mani and ilayaraja team up again for the old magic . Mani should go for a change since 1992 and ar rahaman should be given a break.
