I have heard SOS long before I got to this song and I don't see the similarity. Further, nothing that ABBA did comes close to Raja's compositional wizardry on this song. After having heard a lot of rock and pop music, I can safely say very few of THEM can match Ilayaraja, let alone Tamil film music directors. He is a genius with few peers.

Slumdog Millionaire truly deserved every award it won.. There are some songs in that list which are only partially derived, but Ram Bam Bam is full out inspiration. By the way, Bill Haley's Rock Round the Clock, as the title suggests, is not jazz, it's rock and roll. I'd ask you to go back and listen not for differences but similarities. You can buy a car and paint it a different shade, but it's still the same car.
