For a child the stick is the ultimate multi functional toy.
Sticks where with me throughout my childhood and I can only think of two negative experiences with a stick.
The first was when I found a really good stick and my mum told me to put it down, we could pick it up on the way back she said. Later on that walk a boy walked past holding MY stick. I'll never forget that.
The other was when I hit a tree with a stick and it snapped and hit me in the face.
