  • You don't need "cool" glasses to be cool! The fact that you are adapting to your vision loss in addition to your deafness and not lose your positive attitude makes you SUPER COOL in my eyes! Have a great day!

  • The world is so disabled, so limited. People don't even try to create, or learn new ways to communicate! It stinks because deafblind & the deaf or blind can be lonely because of OUR closed mindedness/fear/laziness/ignorance.

  • Legal blindness is 20/200 with best correction or 20 degree field vision restriction. I am deafblind but have residual hearing and vision. Because I got hearing aids when I was younger, my speech is pretty good. I use Braille and ASL to communicate as well as speaking. Most people that go deaf later in life don't have a dramatic speech change.

Great video, I think your are educating a lot of people.. take care

  • wow, it's amazing how well you can speak if you can't hear. it's more or less completely perfect. i can understand every single word.

one of my friends that i met on the internet is practically 100% deaf, and it got me thinking... what would it be like to not only be one or the other, but deaf and blind at the same time?

you have such a good attitude about it, keep making videos i'll subscribe right now.

  • This videao was really interesting. I cannot believe that you can speak this well! It is incredible. I am giving a presentation about deafblindness at my university this week. Unfortunately there is no way to download videos from youtube:-(

This really helped me for my presentation, thank you!

  • This was a very informative and interesting video about how you and others communicate. I have not had a lot of experience with deaf people, but your speech is very clear and understandable for someone who is totally deaf.

  • Hi Chewbo!

I have a notetaker, a braille handheld computer (I made a video response also to show it and explain how I use it), but the internet on there is VERY slow and frustrating, so I usually read these posts on my desktop using a program called ZoomText, that allows me to enlarge things to HUGE sizes. That helps a little, but my blind spots make it hard.

For videos, obviously I use my desktop. I enlarge the videos slightly I can see the general movement and vague shapes, but no details.

  • I am curious - How do you communicate via the computer? IE: How do you read/type text, watch videos, etc?

Thanks for posting this, by the way! :)

  • Very good explanation of the different degrees of deaf and blindness! Thanks for this vid. XO, C

  • You're welcome. I didn't think anyone either understod my voice or found it interesring. I'm glad you liked it !

    XXXOO
