Dutch seems like a very difficult language to master...how long did it take for the Princess to learn to speak the language?

@dolcevitausa uhm half a year I guess. She ones said that it was a very funny language and that she really wanted to learn it.

@dolcevitausa It is a hard language for people who have to learn it over all due to all kinds of exeptions and rules in the language. But Maxima was very quick in learning the language. I think some Dutch pp like her for that as well.

I think it is great that Maxima spoke Dutch in this press conference. She's totally different (or opposite, I would say) from Princess Mary of Denmark who spoke English at her engagement press conference even though she moved to Denmark two years before the engagement.

Maybe Maxima is really really clever. Mary tried very hard to learn Danish but wasn't good enough to speak it officially when she first got engaged.

That would be Prince Claus, Queen Beatrix's husband and Willem-Alexander's father. In the later stages of his life, Claus suffered from depression and Parkinson's Disease (evident in the video). He died in October 2002.
