Yuck - so painful to listen to Jamie The Winemaker. So pretentious and FAKE. And I'm sorry, but the woman who didn't like the bathrooms at The Slanted Door: get over it. Restaurants are about the food. If you can't get over your dislike of the bathrooms in any venue, you should probably just stay home.
So, i see this is two years old so maybe its changed since. But DO NOT go to the Slanted Door unless you want mediocre food for way way way too high a price. We got the glass noodles with crab. It costs 18 bucks but it's something you can make at home easily, and if you didnt make it at home, you could get it for 5 bucks in the east bay.
However, The Hors D'oeuvres we had were EXCELLENT. 22 dollars for amazing oysters (only four small ones) and roasted lamb sausage. Sounds like its a normal dish but its REEEEEEAALLYY Good. But we had two very very very mediocre to flavorless (but fresh) main courses that costed 18 and 24 bucks. OH! and dont get desert. If you want a good desert, just go to Whole Foods and get something. Total price: $113 for two people. The food was worth about 30 bucks though.
@jessiep02 I've been to The Slanted Door at least 10 times and have always had great food and service, but I agree with you completely regarding dessert: mediocre at best. Best to go somewhere else for that.
This conversation is unbelievably canned, boring and is an embarrassment to the ability to express an original thought in English. Are these people getting paid for their smarmy, fawning comments?
This was a great informative show....really enjoyed the speaker's honest reflections on their visits to the restaurants. Charming hostess and great guests, especially the young handsome winemaker.
