I've flown into the newer Hong Kong International Airport, but never Kai Tak. It makes me wonder if 747's (or passengers) are made for steep turns like that.  I think they were lucky not to have a fatal crash of a jumbo jet coming in for landing, especially with the unpredictable weather in Hong Kong.

That's a perfect landing. Cathay used to stay left as close to the checkerboard as possible to give a longer "final" and Malaysian did that perfectly here.

During Kai Tak time, lot of 747's and big jumbo jets went there even though it might be medium routes. Now, Chep Lap Kok, they used 737's, A320's and A330's over there for medium routes? SOMEBODY TELL ME! More, lead also the way for 737's and A320's landing at Kai Tak!
