Fannie Mae didn't create the bad mortgages and it didn't have oversight over the banks that did, they only set guidlines for the type of mortgages they were looking for.They also didn't drop interest rates to historic lows as Greenspan did causing a surge in housing prices. The people who have oversight are Republican appointments:Henry Paulson(Secretary of the Treasury),Ben Bernanke( Chairman of the FED) and Christopher Cox(Chairman of the SEC).They also offered the first and worst deal.

The CRA program was put into play during the CARTER administration and it made mortgage lenders supply low or no-money down loans to people in low to moderate income housing areas WHO COULD NOT ACTUALLY AFFORD THEM!! The reason I said "few" years was I didn't pin down the exact months. The data points I would use in a query would be beggining 2002 to end of 2005. The other thing is that I believe the numers given by the NAR only includes homes sold. They don't include the glut of over valued homes on the market. Lastly, no doubt, areas that saw little growth would bring down the national averages. It wasn't just Jersey, it was many urban ares with jobs close by.

Cocaine probably helped him get through law school, kept him up at night and helped him study. People can be book smart with no common sense, I see it all the time. Obama is one of these people, book smart but no judgement skills. As far as what will us Republicans do when Obama is elected? We will sit back, not complain like our Liberal counterparts have for the last 8 years, and wait for a second Reagan to come along in 4 years and save us like the first reagan saved us from Carter.

you know what i will agree with you that jimmy carter was not a great president, but i dont think that times were great when reagan was president either, he was a good man and probably the best republican president we have had since Lincoln but you must admit that the country has been better off with a democratic president than a republican president in the past.

Actually the last successful Democrat to be President in the last 50 years was Clinton and that is because he ran a center/left agenda. In his first two years of office he ran a far left agenda and failed miserably, losing the Senate and Congress to the Gingrich revolution. Before Clinton it was Carter, LBJ and JFK. All three of those Presidents watched over pretty crappy times unless you consider Vietnam, the gas crisis and the Iran hostage crisis good times. Hopefully Obama is center/left.

why would senator Obama want to stop troop withdrawals?!? Because he wont get any more benefits by playing the "withdrawal" card and doesn't even see it as timetable as a realistic idea. Also discontent from the war benefits him because he isn't linked to it so it is in his best interests to keep it unresolved. He has consecutively done what is likely to get him more votes in Nov. He is a brilliant politician but he is just another politician. He's just more of the same.

Why does McCain need to approve it to be true? Here is another video to watch of the same topic...in your youtube search look for "Obama Stalls Troop Withdrawl - Backstabs America". This act also puts Obama in violation of the Logan Act of 1978 which is a felony punishable with fines and/or up to 3 years in jail. Regardless, when it comes to the war, he put himself before the US and US troops. As opposed to McCain who tried to put the US and the mortgage crisis before himself and the debate.

I do not understand this video.Zebari comments in July (Zebari said he and senator(Mccain) discussed how they both look forward to a U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq, but that the moment had not arrived for that exit.)So if this was the consensus,why would Obama behind closed doors ask for the withdraw to be delayed until after the election when Zebari himself was against immediate troop withdraw. This add sounds a little fishy to me.

I don't know how we got off topic on the credit crisis. But, also goes back to the Community Reinvestment Act and bank ratings directly related to giving loans to low income neighborhoods. This record will then be used in evaluating applications for future approval of bank mergers, charters, acquisitions, branch openings and deposit facilities.

Couldn't agree with you more. However, have you seen the comments on Obama's YouTube videos? They are obviously not posting a large percentage of dissenting comments. Their lack of belief in free speech is glaring. It is all about the "mystique". And his campaign has already done the "It isn't about what Obama did while in Iraq" dialogue. He ducks and dodges, but eventually he cannot hide. If elected, disaster for all Americans. And then we will kick him and 90% of congress out!

shiv86. The credit crisis is not a republican issue. The democrats were in bed with Fannie & Freddie as was the Black Congressional Caucus. But, I am sure just to point that out will be deemed racist. Search for video of 2005 Fannie CEO calling them "family" with Obama present and admitting back then that the company was in trouble and needed their help. Fannie was in the business of reaching out to "underprivileged". It was a good partnership for them. But, not for America.
