  • The nuclear industry doesn't care whether they are poisoning you! Figure it out. The world had the huge disaster in Chernobyl in 1986 and no one has been willing to fork out the $2 Billion to put a dome on it so it continues to leak radiation throughout Europe and World to this day! Fukushima is no different. The EPA is in on it too. Two weeks after levels of radiation were found off the charts when the 3 nuclear power plants at Fukushima Daiichi melted down, the EPA raised the "safe" levels.

  • Looks like that deregulation the GOP loves so much, once again, doesn't play out so well when money and all that is involved. Remember that in 2012, sheeple, now that you've all been sold on the Gulf moratorium being a bad idea.. Keystone sand tars and radiation coming right up. Woot Woot.

  • VIKTORIA MITLYN is a russian belly dancer lol

  • Join C.A.N. Coalition Against Nukes. They are an active group protesting nuclear power. On Facebook. Many areas protesting Oct. 1

  • A SMALL SLAP ON THE WRIST FOR THIS??????? HELLO????

  • i skated there park today!

  • look at that fake ass woman...you let these fake evil people ruin your lives and murder you and your families..

  • This is beyond immoral. I am sick of the LIES that these greedy jerks tell us about how safe we all are. This is simply not true!!!!! We need to pressure our government until they close all of these nuclear plants!!!!! The NRC just works with PG&E in our area, where the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is located, to adjust safety requirements necessary to keep them in operation! A new earthquake fault was recently discovered just 300 yards off the coast by this plant! Fight back!

  • Tritium is naturally occurring. Pure, concentrated heavy water can be dangerous, but it is not dangerous as a direct result of its radioactivity. The radioactivity from the tritium isotope can split oxygen off the water molecule, and free oxygen is corrosive. That is how heavy water can be dangerous (if large quantities are ingested). The radiation from tritium is actually quite weak and is incapable of penetrating the outer (dead) layer of skin. Not dangerous. Really.

  • @Marmocet I suggest you do some research on low power beta emitters that are ingested. how exactly does your skin shield you from tritium you ingest? A little knowledge is dangerous.

  • @Liberty4awl A little knowledge indeed. Six million gallons means little without putting that number in context. How diluted was it? And over how many years? What was the effective concentration in the water supply?

As with all ionizing radiation, exposure to tritium increases the risk of developing cancer. However, because it emits very low energy radiation and leaves the body relatively quickly, for a given amount of activity ingested, tritium is one of the least dangerous radionucliodes.

  • I have two words for you, cumulative dose. If your so casual on exposure to tritium why not buy the Zimmers property. I'm sure they will sell it to you cheap. It would be a good investment for renting if you don't want to live there but WHY would you not want to live there? Would you raise your children there? You will dismiss this but you know you would never set foot there and the idea of raising your children there would be crazy, right? All because of what you are saying is a non-issue.

  • @Liberty4awl All their property shows is that people are afraid of the word radiation. And no, I wouldn't be afraid to set for on their property. I wouldn't be afraid to be an airline captain, or an astronaut either.

What people's fear of nuclear radiation shows is how rubbish people are at assessing risk. Coal soot from power plants kills 10,000 per year in respiratory diseases. Another 10,000 die mining coal. The confirmed death toll from nuclear power since the 1950s is something like 70.

  • @Marmocet I guess you don't consider tumors and cancer problematic? I did not say set foot on their property and you know it. I said WOULD YOU RAISE YOUR CHILDREN ON THEIR PROPERTY! Your stats are as misleading as your dodge of my original question. I guess you think a few thousand died at Chernobyl because the media told you so? Ever hear of Dr. Helen Caldicott. Ignore my question again or lie and claim you would raise your children there.

  • @Liberty4awl Of course cancer and tumors are problematic, as you put it. But can you show that tritium caused anyone tumors or cancer? The news clip doesn't prove anything. All post hoc ergo propter hoc reeasoning. Pick any town anywhere in the world, and there will be someone with cancer, and dogs with tumors. If you want to establish that tritium is the likely causal agent here, you will need to do some exhaustive research and carry out a statistical study.

  • @Liberty4awl I think the 2011 UNSCEAR report on Chernobyl is the most comprehensive statistical study of the aftermath of the Chernobly accident to date. It puts the number of deaths reliably attributable to the radiation produced by the accident therefore 62. You can read an abstract of the study's findings at the unscear.org website.

  • @Liberty4awl Would I raise my children there? Sure. I would like to know the concentration of tritium in the water, but that notwithstanding, I would not be worried. I live in an area that has very high levels of naturally occurring radon, which is found in our water and air indoors. Radon is much more powerfully radioactive than tritium. Interestingly, cancer rates here are average to slightly lower than average. Seems radiation isn't such a major risk factor for cancer after all.

  • wow i didn't realise it was so much.

  • Looks like all the Nuclear Regulatory Committee DID was pretend to be concerned for the residents of Illinois. They accomplished nothing!!! And the people still suffer.

Like the man said then shook his head "Shame shame shame."

  • This just in, america is satanic empire, run by occult satan worshipors, wake up they have gone global, either you can fight them, and they are our govt military police, or god is coming soon to end the planet if we dont take them out.

  • Unfuckingbelievable ! Yep, all one word!

  • More radiation please, I want my super powers!!!!

  • WTF is a "low amount" of Tritium? Hey stupid nuke plant owners. If you keep screwing up like this it will be just a matter of time before somebody gets the idea to weaponize this inot their own soft-kill weapon and rogue element on your asses.

  • 6 million gallons of tritium contaminated water, NOT 6 million gallons of tritium. VERY BIG difference.

  • :I

  • This is bullshit radiation is good for you. My government said so. It is so good in fact they raised the lv of radition dose we can all have. >_<

  • Fuck fear, fuck concern... embrace ANGER! PLEASE!!! You can keep having your hearings, your sit-ins, and your marches, blah blah blah....OR you can actually do something that will change the entire world. If we want to avoid tumors in your body, we must cut the cancers out of our government... but first you have to get MAD! Stop with the "shame on you" approach because it doesn't fucking affect these people. It's not that they don't care, they actually PREFER that we die a slow, expensive death!
