  • this is a superb video, thanks!

  • its up to the firefighter if he wants to wear the scba sum guys need it sum guys dont

  • Very nice catch.

  • I understand the conservation of air, however, when you got the slightest bit of smoke in your general area, you should be breathing in clean air. A firefighter has no clue what is burning inside the structure, thus breathing in an unknown chemical. Not to mention a mask will provide somewhat of protection from debris and hot ambers.

  • Very good video! My question is, why is there firefighters on the porch roof without their mask on? No reason why they shouldn't be masked up and breathing air? When there was a firefighter wearing a mask and breathing air, he enters the second floor with no NOMEX hood on, exposing his neck, ear, and the side face region. The best is at the 9:09 mark where you have firefighter poking around with visible fire right above him, bringing down debris with no mask on!!!!!!! Not very smart!!!!!!!!!

  • You brought up a good point. You should never use up your air when on the exterior of any fire where there is relatively no smoke. Conserving air is important, and once you go interior, put it on when conditions warrant. If you get trapped or lost, every little bit of air is gonna be worth it. Why use the bottle when air is plentiful on the outside? Hoods, personal preference? Thanks for pointing these items out in the video. Everyone came home safe, Thats all that counts!

  • I gotta disagree. Hoods shouldn't be a personal preference. They are made to protect any exposed skin, if put on properly. Maybe the insurance companies decide make their personal preference and decline the claim when a firefighter gets burnt because of a stupid personal preference.

  • @newsworking You bring up great valid points that never get mentioned and I thank you for that. I would venture to say that 95% of my comments are about firefighters not wearing scba and ppe. I am close to banging my head against a wall repeatedly. Not that this will solve anything, but it drives me insane. Thanks for posting, great video!

  • Good video (as usual!), but I have a question about the fire... 2454 got on scene and called Command, but went interior (you could hear him on the radio wearing SCBA). Did he go into "Fast Attack" mode right away? Just curious... Any insight out there?
