Story behind this video. I heard on 101.5 FM there was a touchdown near Lemons Springs and figured most tornado's head in a NE direction, I figured the Kendale area woud be a good place with wide open sky horizon to see the storm on it's approach. I was across town at the time the hailstorm came so I knew things were getting bad. Finally got to the empty car lot at the intersection of Lee and Industial. The swirl of debris is how I recognized the tornado for what it was. Matter of timing. :)DLP

As bad as any we have in Iowa. Our house was hit in the early 80's, We had cleanup volunteers galore & eventually recovered but we never had so many casualties. This storm kept it's strength clear across the country.

@fadethetrade North Carolina is not apart of the MAJOR Tornado alley out in the Midwest, but is apart of one of the three alleys in the US called "Carolina's Alley"... It is the smallest of the three alleys and takes up a small portion of Central North Carolina and a small strip of South Carolina... the second alley takes up part of Louisiana, Alambana, and Arkansas.. look it up on Google.. I'm a soldier from fort bragg and i had came up to try and help with the clean up and searches of sanford and lowes but the sheriff's that were at the barricade just looked at me, laughed, started joking around about me coming up to help, then told me to go look elsewhere. I'm not even from this state and i was willing to help while i saw numerous other people just cussing and honking their horns to try and go on with their lives. I hate NC but i hope all is well in sanford now.

I'm a soldier from fort bragg and i had came up to try and help with the clean up and searches of sanford and lowes but the sheriff's that were at the barricade just looked at me, laughed, started joking around about me coming up to help, then told me to go look elsewhere. I'm not even from this state and i was willing to help while i saw numerous other people just cussing and honking their horns to try and go on with their lives. I hate NC but i hope all is well in sanford now.

@KansasScout08 Well, God Bless you for pinning your ears back and rolling up your sleeves and trying to help. I assume you're from Kansas by your moniker, and I'm from Nebraska. Yeah....we KNOW tornadoes...and we KNOW how it is back in the midwest when a town gets decimated by a tornado. People would be astounded and shocked at how quickly those midwesterners get to fixin' and cleaning up after a disaster like this. They start about 5am the next morning, and make incredible progress hourly.

@naderchaser Yep, i'm originally from Kansas but since my family moved out of it now, i dont really have a home except where the army takes me. Regardless though, Kansas will always be my home as well as the twisters that roll through there. When i had heard the deputies in sanford laughing and joking around at a time that people were missing/hurt/dieing, it really ticked me off. If it wasnt for them wearing pistols, i would of made some pretty harsh remarks. I just bit my tongue though.

@MLYANG100 A question of affording it or dying in the next tornado season.You do what is nessessary to maintain your life even if it means moving to areas that are more stable weatherwise.Anyway,people who live in trailer homes aren't living there because they have a career or work for a company that pays them well!!!
