Etho there is a better way of growing mushrooms if it is down a level it will have a 25% chance of growing another mushroom same if it is 1 level higher but id the mushrooms are on the main level were the mushrooms grow it will have a 50% to 60% chance of growing

Hey Ethos! I think That It depends on the level of the Fortune on what it works with. I think level one only works with coal, two works with iron, gold and redstone and level three works with diamond. Thats just what I think of how it works.

Not sure if you'll see this, but I found two cave spider spawners 22m apart, so figured I'd give one of the XP farms a try. Problem is, they won't stay in the water channels in the spawning room. They climb the walls like they see me (made a texture pack with transparent stone to see what the problem was). This is on SMP, do they track players through walls differently in SMP vs SSP or what? I went back and tried to mimic your design as close as possible, but no luck. :(

@TheSpruu Nope, had the same problem on my SSP. Found two spawners nearby, but couldn't make them work for some reason, although I could clearly hear spiders spawning. Turned out that if you are higher than the spawners are, spiders will climb the walls to get you. Because of that I dug a tunnel with a room 9 blocks away and re-channeled the water streams so that I could be at the same level as the spiders. Works like a charm now (they do get stuck at times where the channels meet tho).
