I can´t wait to see them serving in a Scottish army when we regain our independence and they are protecting Scotland and not the remains of the British empire.
Your offensive bigoted user name sums up everything that is wrong with a certain kind of unionist. ( I won´t honour you by calling you a Scot as you prefer to be North Brit).
Anyway, when we regain our independence, the British army will be kicked out just as Wallace and Bruce kicked the English out.
I think a republic is ineveitable although I have no problem with forelock tuggers who want to keep these parasites around.
My mum used to play this when i was a kid and it stayed with me all my life.. gone but not forgotten mum r.i.p.... Little did she know then that i would have the Honour of serving in the Gordons.......... Next to my kids being born it was without doubt the one of the proudest moments of my life "BYDAND"
I Served with the Guys in Dunganon, Real Heroes. Was Presented with a Commanding Officers Citation and the Right to wear the Kilt have never had a prouder moment in my life. What a Loss a True Highland Regt. and I'm English
@helen1434 ... the Gordon was, himself, treated like a king. He was adorned with the finest clothing, his debs paid-off completely, and became the king's personal guard. He was also granted a sizable piece of land - I am directly related to that Gordon, and all in the Gordon highlander clan.
@helen1434 Then it is so :). Gordons were the only highland clan to be accepted into the king's palace. There is a record of a Gordon being the Alexander III's captain, and walking with the king through the woods of Torwood to hunt boar. Apparently, the boar they were hunting was really stalking them and charged the king, who did not bring his sword. The Gordon stepped in front of the king and slew the boar with his own sword, saving the king from death. When they returned to the palace, ...
Ah, my clan!!!!!! At last!!! Everyone of those pipers are my cousins. I am directly related to the Gordon highlander clan. And yes, those are the authentic tartans. Nathaniel Gordon served under Montrose against the Cavaliers and became his closest friend. I am proud to be a Gordon, and proud of my ALBA!!!!!!!
Actually Dave, 'Sammy' Sampson became Capt. Sampson, Director of Army Bagpipe Music when Maj, Gavin Stoddart (RHF/SG)retired. Sammy was succeeded by Small, Late of the Black Watch. I was D&P's AUOTC so knew a lot of the guys too, and of course who can forget 'Spider' God rest his soul. Ninety-twa an' no deid yet!!

Beaitiful music. My great grandfather played pipes for the glorious gordons over a hundred years ago. He was at the dargai heights when Piper Finlater won the VC. Marvellous music. It stirs my sole. Never to be heard again.

I have been trying for approx 2 months to track down anyone that was in the band that may still have the sheet music for this tune - beautiful tune. I have contacted the museum; but the too are at a loss on how to go about acquiring the tune - would anyone know? Any Gordon Highlanders out there?
The tune is published by Bandleader Publications. It has either piano and violin scores or full military band scores with the pipe music. Hope this helps.
@stickmagnet hi yes im the short drummer on the right, if u go on face book and contact lewis barclay he was one of the pipers playing, or even david duncan, hope this helps

Thankfully the important elements like the British army and royal family will still exist, just means Scotland controls its own finances. :)

So big 'Sammy' became Pipe-Major, eh?
Well; he certainly deserved it.
I sat and listened to him play solo (we were drinking...ahem!) for over an hour, and he didn't repeat himself once.
Good to see some familiar faces there...(Sgt) Wullie Moran for example.
Glad I left before they 'disappeared'.
