  • well , i guess stephen hawkin have been wachting to much star wars :)

  • Great documentary series. Love the co-narration by Hawking and Cumberbatch.

  • 2:16

    Did somebody just get De-Rezzed?

  • this is a type 3 civilization. and the funny thing is that we are not even type 1

  • @daryps03 how many types are there, and i would like it if u told me were to get this info

  • @BallinatorMK1 /watch?v=khascSsA18Y&feature=related

  • i hope they are friendly

  • This is a description of what we are like and how we would invade and rob other civilisations.

  • If you lived in a giant space ship and you came to our solar-system, why would you need to strip mine the earth? Wouldn't it be easier to mine all the Asteroids and comets, first? Everything you need would be there, and easy to get to.

  • So much for fear mongering science fiction.

  • Maybe we're the ones who are going to become like that.

  • Either the Universe is teeming with life. Let's say the've downed ufo's or they crash landed and it looks like two or three types of Alien. They could also be super evolved human beings from the future. Nuclear bomb that blew up could def. attracked them to earth. I mean if we can build a bomb with that much power there must be other ways to blow stuff up & the aliens are coming to make damn sure we don't blast a hole in the Milky Way

  • well done well done illuminati well done four this brainless crap never herd so much crap in life fuck me if there ever gona be alien attack it would most probly be reengined ufo's with little humans in there

  • they wouldnt want to . if they were advanced enough to come to us then we would be freinds

  • sorry sir m not agery with u about alien ....

i my opinion if alien are r ther or if they r intelligent then us - they might had came already into earth not rather then human being searching for alien

  • Life out there perhaps don´t need spaceship to travel across. What if they can travel with out any ship. What if they are "energy creatures" and can transport them selves 10-thousand times faster than the speed of light.? What kind of life form, are we confronting in that case? And how old are they, if they exist.? Are they friendly, or are they nice? There is a occult things happening world wide. 6-million Jews would pay back to all Nazi and scare them. So spirit as after life is no reality

  • sorry to say but... if aliens are really oe wanted to take over, they wouldve already done it.

  • maybe they are more advanced than that Columbus-like take over. Maybe they will invade to free us from "unwanted tyranny" and set us up for democracy.. all the while their real reason they came was for our oi... resources. Just an alternate theory.

  • geez - this guys imagination is incredible... first they're here, and theyr'e very angry with us, so they're going to strip mine the earth.

Then they get distracted by that ball of fire, and turn on the sun, just cause it was there and remeber they're pissed off....

Then they create a freaking wormhole, no doubt to get to the next unsuspecting day job slave planet lazing about in front of the tv.

    These Aliens are buuussssyyyyy... :)

  • what utter ...

  • fuck the aliens ! show them that the human will rule them back !

  • I can't find the next part

  • how do i find the next part?

  • i saw all of tis parts in Discovery channel !! its amazing..!

  • I think that most more advanced civilizations will move past the addiction to exploiting. I think that all Type 3 glactic civilizations would be peace-oriented, having evolved pst any violent tendancies. I think that the most advanced type of civilization that would have a possibility be warlike would be a Type II such as the Romulan Star Empire in Star Trek. The United Federation of Planets is Type II also.

  • If Aliens do come and they are anything like the Warmongers in the USA, we are all fucked.

  • @mrtadreamer First, everything we love to think Jesus said was,in truth, written by other man...we even don't know if he was hand-righted or left-handed..i find the Christian way to see the life the best thing the men wrote...the men...allas..and...how can be sure....there is no absolute evidence..it all could be a collectionof a great thought a sensivity..just like in the case of Buddha, while the things wrote in the Koran are to bloody to be worthy of attention..i suppose

  • 3:03 Mother of god...

  • Weird thinking how we were made.... and how aliens were made....... mindfuck

you could have been an alien

  • @RichyRoo832 "you could have been an alien" think about it, that makes no sence lol. You're an alien to other aliens, an alien is just an entity that not known to man.

  • @killerlad9 Nope, the term "alien" means something that is foreign. He meant that we could be foreign to Earth you derpface.

  • @RichyRoo832 maybe the Aliens made us..

  • Where does Hawking's paranoid delusions come from?!?

  • Tbh, I do belive something is out there, But if they wanted to destroy are planet, or Enslave us or whatever, Don't you think they would have done it already?

If you think about it people see "sightings" of UFOs and some claim to be abducted, but do you ever see things being destroyed? Or the men in black?

I dunno what their doing but they seem to avoid us, and on steven hawkings vision, If they travveled in time and space, wouldn't we already be dead?

  • Average sci-fi. Nothing more. Get a grip on reality Mr Hawking.

  • @mrtadreamer Sci-fi is only limited my one's imagenation. If you were to live in the 1600's would you have thought that we would have the technology we have now? How do we know that atoms are there? People say that atoms are the smallest things. That everything is made of atoms. How do we know, though? If they are too small to see, are they there? Imagenation is the very limits of speculation. Its not that hard to see that there could be hostile alien life might be out there.

  • @pokemonparty101 Excuse me, but are you an atheist?

  • @mrtadreamer Nope. I am a Christian.

  • @pokemonparty101 Are you aware that Hawking is an atheist?

  • @mrtadreamer Yes I am.... What's your point?

  • @pokemonparty101 That was predicted in Ezekial's vision onf the valley of dry bones, and Jesus, mentioning the fig tree putting forth leaves. He said to watch for these things to take place. In the book of Danial another sign is given, in that "knowledge shall increase." never before in history have we discovered what we have the the last few decades. Scientific knowledge, both in space and medical, and technology, the mappning of the human genome.

  • @pokemonparty101 In Danial it was predicted "many shall run back and forth" The world is never at rest, with the highway systems full of traffic day and night, not to mention the air lines world wide. In Danial it's predicted "The wise will understand but none of the wicked shall not understand". Any time Christians speak up about the world or life or anything else, they are laughed at and regarded as nut cases, because no one understands what they are talking about.

  • @mrtadreamer Hawking can be an atheist, but he well know that the universe has an inherent programming..coming from..he doesn't ask to himself other,he is aware there is no answer..it is a bit different fromwhat you mean for atheist..and from what is called..the inteligente drawing..his mind is really from another planet

  • Also a advanced alien society would most likely be far more responsible then us in taking care of their planets if they don't make their own. Also have control of population. Having kids or needing them who be most likely handled in the best interest of society. Also health concerns such as aging and sickness would not be a issue.

  • Aliens who master matter, time and space would only need a small collection of energy to supply a vast amount of their needs. Also I don't see a "domination-centered" species(this includes us) ever progressing to a point where they are threat to anybody but themselves. It would require vast amounts of effort by the entire species to achieve a Galactic Society. Which would be halted by constant selfishness and trying to dominate each other.

  • The last part where they collect all the stars energy to 1 single point and creating a wormhole.

But how do they make so the other end of the wormhole opens in our solar system.

  • @kn1b1s95 They create what many call an Einstein Rosen Bridge. This bridge or wormhole would be propelled through another area called subspace opening up at the desired location. The wormhole's length and size may be determined by the amount of energy used. Once the energy stabilizes or reaches the set amount of usage the wormhole will be opened and be suitable for passage.

  • @mw2silentshot lol but how do they set wher it will open. PARADOX

  • @kn1b1s95 I wrote that the length will be determined by the energy consumption that is allowed (of course rigorous mathematical equations would be needed to determine the subspace entry and exit points) the wormhole is only allowed so much energy thus it is forced to open up a set area in subspace (which opens up where it is desired in the universe). This bridge is nothing more than a calculated rip in subspace that links one hole to another, the actual length in subspace is microscopic in scale

  • @jacobm201

man has been around for years and years ,has man gone to invade the universe??? and as @dunnono said the universe is a pretty big place....

  • "Advanced civilization" = "something acting much like nazi Germany" - really?

  • This makes no sense if aliens had bein around for years and years wouldnt they have came to envade the universe

  • @jacobm201

The universe is a pretty big place...

  • @jacobm201 The Universe is pretty fucking big. Unsuprising that we can't see any since we barely even see 1/millionth of the thing.

  • I highly doubt aliens would travel the unimaginable distances across space in hydrocarbon powered ships. They would have to use technology far beyond what we possess and probably even more than we currently comprehend. And if they can manipulate space or even time to travel such massive distances in a relatively short amount of time, wouldn't it follow that they could just as easily create whatever resources that they need, possibly from vacuum energy?

  • Here is what makes no sense: Hawking postulates that advanced alien civilizations would be a threat to Earth, it's people, and it's resources. He also comments on how alien civilizations would have to obtain a certain level of self-mastery in order to not destroy themselves. My question is how could an alien race advanced enough to master their own minds even be a threat to their OWN environment, let alone another planets?

  • @burchified

Maybe the keyword is "level" of mastery. But who knows. All we have are some assumptions based on our limited understanding of what future technology consists of and our own civilization's behavior.

I once read an interesting sci-fi book about highly intelligent, but more or less non-sentient aliens that interpreted transmissions from Earth as a sort of act of war against them.

  • @dunnono00 I agree. But think about how past generations have visualized the future and what it actually came to be. It's always only partially accurate. And the parts that are off are very off. Pop culture in the 30's depicted we would all be wearing shiny silver uni-tards and driving hover cars. And if the hive mentality had prevailed that probably would have been true. But we as a species ride a fine line between opposites. Suffice it to say that this series is also pop culture.

  • @burchified Their basic instinct.

The dominant race being Carnivores? Naturally hunt out the weaker, and exploit it for all they got.

Herbivores? Wipe out ANYTHING that even has the potential to be a threat.

Humans can be dumb, aggressive creatures, regardless of intelligence. The same can easily be applied to whatever's out there.

  • @Lightscribe225 I don't subscribe to your oversimplified definitions of carnivores and herbivores but I do agree that instinct is always present. However, what definitely separates humans from other Earthy life forms is the ability to reflect upon our actions and hypothesize the outcome of those actions. I suggest reading the book "Creative Evolution" by Henri Bergson.

  • @burchified And I suggest looking out the window. We still follow instinct. Thanks to our large brains however, we are able to put more reasoning behind it. It's still instinct though...

  • @Lightscribe225 I never said or implied that we do not follow our instincts. Elephants have larger brains than humans and although relatively smarter than many other animals, they are not as smart as people.

  • WERE ARE SOOOO F'ED IF THEY INVADE!!!!

  • i went from mine craft vids to Stephen Hawkings :D

  • Scientisis don`t know what metaphores are!

  • this is what happens when you try to describe future science with present science

  • @solar793 Great point. It all seems very steampunkish.

  • Thank goodness America is the first target.

  • @kotosqopos LOL

  • you cant rule out the posibility of life elsewhere ,there are many things that we do not know about our own planet like the contents of the ocean or rainforest so there is know way we can say what could exist in the deep reach of space how far has man been past the moon , has he even been to it

  • That is just non sense, No matter how advance the Aliens are, If there ship even get close to the Sun, The instant heat will be more than over 1million degree's that will melt anything that goes near it.

  • @mw097860 It would melt any material that we know, but if they really exist, and it's a big BUT, and they are advanced, maybe they know some material that can resist to that heat.

  • @mw097860 I think the key is non-locality.

  • Why do we always assume that Aliens are advanced and we're primitive....why couldn't be viced- versa?

  • @yamenkharsa If that were true then how could said aliens be traveling at a steller level and how can they acomplish the feats on gaining the ability to break past their own atmosphere travel millions if not billions of miles and reach us if we've so much as acomplished getting past our farthest planets and breaking the barriers of our milky way galaxy?

  • If current human tech is any decent measuring bar, advance alien tech would be mind boggling. They might not even need raw resources or energy. Alien civilization would be so powerful that they are immortal, indestructible and have minds that think about concept that would make a human brain explode. Humans and earth would not even be worthy for them to gaze upon, we have NOTHING to offer them. Would you steal dirt from ants? They are probably incorporeal and related to gods of our religion.

  • More theoretical rubbish!

  • @foxylord its logical theory.. put aside the cgi whatif-ery &u have very real hypothesis.. any alien civilisation that has the MEANS to reach us is going to be so much more advanced than we are it would almost be like us gazing at an anthill &thinking wow..thats amazing how they build their little cities with such minute "intelligence" theyd probly find us quite fascinating...if not a lil bit quaint

  • @theblaquebaastid It isn't a theory it is a hypotheses, which is why I don't believe any of this rubbish. Just because some scientist says x,y,z people lap it up. I work in a scientific field, and many of my contemporaries laugh at how people like Hawkins can say whatever they like and everyone instantly believes it.

  • @foxylord dont be so quick to judge. The idea that interstellar beings may one day treck upon earth space is a considerably real circumstance however the likleyhood of this happeneing in the forseeable future is unlikly. An even as a 15 year old, i doubt ill see anything similar to the proposed hypothesis in my lifetime.

  • Whether or not wormholes exist, I don't think there is such thing as a universe we can't explore ourselves. It would make no sense to me. Just my point of view.

  • @JayMark2049 Throughout most of the universe, though, there is no atmosphere. This means that we would run out of oxygen very quickly.

  • Comment removed

  • @ReconSparton Yes, there is a source. Plants. I'm an atheist and have loved science all of my life. It is actually 4.54 billion years old, I think (don't quote me on that, because that is just from what I remember). I'm pretty sure that you would agree that we couldn't live on any of the other planets without suits because of a lack of oxygen, wouldn't you? That's what I was saying essentially.

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 We couldn't live without oxygen but it is already proven that diffrent microorganisms can live in conditions in which no human could (extreme temperatures, no oxygen, toxins etc.). Life itself dosen't necessarly need a water/oxygen ecosystem to be. Also, plants are not the only source of oxygen on the earth. Cyanobacterias are estimated to produce at least 25% of our O2. With algaes, they make up to 70% of the O2 so terrestrial plants (forests etc.) make up about 30% of our O2.

  • @JayMark2049 Yes, but there are none of these things on other planets to our knowledge, correct? At least not enough to supply us with oxygen 24/7.

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 I think a lot of things are kept in secret from us the "regular" folks. But as far as oxygen is concerned, I really think there are other living entities in the universe that don't even need oxygen. Why? Because some exist on our own planet. Life dosen't necessarly imply the presence of oxygen. I think like can bloom out of many diffrent types of ecosystems.

  • @JayMark2049 So far, we have agreed on just about everything. This is awesome. Thanks for the time!

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 No prob. Always a pleasure to discuss about the mysteries of our universe with civilized people! Thanks to you too.

  • @JayMark2049 I've been looking at some philosophical things lately, and I was wondering how would you go about debunking Descartes' brain in a vat hypothesis?

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 It's actually really close to my perception of reality. What I think is that everything we experience is experienced in our consciousness. So in other words, counsciousness isn't "in" the brain and it's through counsciousness that we manifest everything known to us so far. It is non-local from our point of view meaning it is outside of space and time. Hard to explain in a couple lines but I only have 400 caracters per post.

  • @JayMark2049 I think I get what you're saying. I am the exact opposite, but that is probably simply because I don't have much of an imagination nor creativity due to my having asperger's syndrome. I also have ADHD. It's funny how much my personality changes when I take my ADHD medication. I go from being very spontaneous and not being able to focus for even 5 minutes to not wanting to talk to anybody and being able to focus for hours on end. I got off topic there, sorry.

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 More and more physicists are taking this theory seriously now. John Eccles, famous neurophysicist once said our physical reality is generated by consciousness. He then won a Nobel. The thing with our physical universe is that in short, everything is only vibration and something (counsciousness?) make those vibes appear like particles to an observer. Mathematically, the probability of having every physical constants set like so so life is possible are way beyond impossibility.

  • @TheWhiteShadow42 So? What's your point? You think I don't know that? I just mentionned there is IMO a way to navigate across the universe. Didn't imply that we could just walk there naked.

  • watching this in science!!! Cant keep a straight face when stephen talks! lol

  • @DancinBoi24 Shut the fuck up :'(

  • What episode is this? I just saw this episode on TV and this part is towards the end of the episode.

Extraordinary series. It really puts life into perspective.

  • We will be aliens sooner or later. I mean think about it. Once we find something other than oil we fuck things up. hahahhahahaha. Silicon valley, computers which are able to make this. I believe its "gods" way to tell us the way he wants the ships to look like but yet again I am probally wrong.

  • Nice comedy. LMAO.

  • id be like we found glipese go there ya alien c0ck sukers

  • This is remarkable science fiction.

  • What a Distubing ending!

  • but.. wait. How could they control where the worm hole would let them out? How would they know where in space to go to?

  • @Et3rnalRain

There are wormholes out there so they may end up coming out of a random one or even deploy their kind to come here before the invasion and place a piece of kit that would like allow them to arrive here.Kinda like telepathy.

  • @theshow2k8 telepathy? telepathy is communication between minds retard. and no being can control where a worm hole would go.. IF WORM HOLES EVEN EXISTED. worm holes have never been discovered, they are a mathematical equation. So basically, yes they COULD exist if you do the math. But in reality, no one has seen one.

  • @Et3rnalRain

That's not to say that they don't exist. Black holes were predicted mathematically.

Do you think wormholes may exist?

  • @MyPhysics101 theres pretty much solid proof that black holes exist. we've "seen" them lol but idk, i hope wormholes exist. that would open up a lot of possibilities.

  • @Et3rnalRain

I know black holes exist. I'm simply saying that they were first predicted through math.

    I hope wormholes exist too.

  • Hello earthlings, I am Zantorac..... and I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico

  • why not use nuclear msissiles on big alien ship?

  • @Rollercaosterbuilder

Well, there's plenty of reasons. At the basic level, we can assume that these aliens have just as much destructive capability, if not more. So we could destroy their ship, and they would destroy our planet. The other thing is, a ship can move out of the way. Countries cannot.

  • @Rollercaosterbuilder The whole point of a nuclear missile is to create a very large explosion, Which in space is practically useless because of the friction-less environment not to mention other factors. We could conceivably 'blow one up' if it enter's are atmosphere however.

  • @Rollercaosterbuilder you should youtube ufo shuts down 20 nuke missiles :)

  • for my opinion aliens are REAL ! they are just some where around the space that we dont not know where there really are , i believe ALIENS technology was so strong and super super smart than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkings and many Famous Scientist's we have . Aliens Built There own giant SHIP and that we do'nt have . !

  • Star Wars Much?

  • Why do we always assume aliens always have better shit than we do?

  • @Imreason YHeah seriously. Why can't their be a highly technological aliens that have the intelligence of a hillbilly?

  • @Imreason aliens dont all have better technology, but those that visit us WILL.

  • It's ok Duke Nukem will save us.

  • deathstar!

  • Ok where the heck are parts 2-10? I hate teasers, especially when I can't find the rest

  • If aliens can master the technology to travel the VAST distances between the stars, it makes sense, that if they wanted to, they could probably snuff us out without really thinking about it!!!

  • i hate that people think that aliens are some super smart race

  • @spongeofsteel01 I agree, they could be just like us. Maybe not even that. However, if the aliens were to reach us, they would have to be a super smart race. Or maybe an average race with resources unavailable to the Earthbound or with longer lifespans.

  • i have a strange feeling that out of the X amounts of planets out there that 'viking' aliens are gonna come through a wormhole steal our resources :/ im pretty sure if there are aliens this technologically advanced they will have a way of reproducing resources instead of wanting shitty fossil fuels, and damn would the aliens get a surprise when they arrived here wanting our fossil fuels they GONNA BE PIIIIIIIIISSED...

  • Why would they go for our sun? Our sun is tiny compared to other ones.

  • @Kadine2011

    Because Aliens are strange

  • If such nomads come,we have enough nukes to blow the planet to smitherines, and hope they die with us so they will never threat another planet

  • don't know what they are?, what they want? Or where they came from. Only one thing is certain if Shepard doesn't bring help soon. There won't be a earth left to save.

  • The galaxy is in orion's belt, fukking leave us alone and take teh cat with you, back inside your wormhole bunghole.

  • We are like ants to the aliens.

  • @KingPkYo what I am saying in my first comment is that aliens probably regard us as aliens. And may be they to think aliens (us) have really advanced technology. But we don't so I don't see why when people think of aliens they think they must have really advanced technology. Get it?

  • @KingPkYo Your comment makes no sense, I know we are humans how does this make me a "dumb ass"

  • why when we think of aliens do we think they have very advanced technology! To what we call aliens we are aliens and yet we dont think are own technology as that advanced

  • @NahEireannach14 just the fact that they would be able to get to us makes them more advanced than we are.

  • OK if they used a wormhole then they would already have prior knowledge of our existance, but across great disances? Come on they would go to al that trouble to get little ole us? Naw not likely. Good dramatics though.

  • And we are hosed

  • Before we start worrying about alien threats, we should focus on ourselves and the terrible things we do to each other

  • You make my my point. If we are an anthill to aliens then again why would they even bother trying to crush us? If they indeed made contact I doubt it would be to enslave us or plunder our planet (sans "Independence Day" style) for the simple reason they either have evolved beyond the need to conquer and exploit. Maybe they are just like us and are curious and exploratory in nature. Anyway I hope we all live long enough to find out in the next decade or two.

  • @cellofingers I agree. But I doubt they would view as equals and share such advanced technology.I think they would explore our planet, come to the conclusion that there's no intelligent life here and move on.But we'll never know what's out there, most likely.

  • I agree. Seriously now lets think back to the secenties when we did actually recieved a radio signal from a star system 200 light years away indicating a pattern of letters and numbers. The so called "WOW" signal from SETI. I really think that maybe if we did contact aliens in the future they might be surprisingly like ourselves. As Issac Asminov said we humans have the perfect design for "making things and designing things". That said who is to saythey may be very much on our level.

  • I think Aliens think of Earth like we think of say Albania. We know it exists but why go there?

  • @cellofingers Ha ha ..... I think Hawkings might also be wrong ?

  • @cellofingers haha fuckin ace!

  • @cellofingers exactly. for example say your walking down a dirt road and you see an ant hill. what would you do? would you go up to it and say "i come in peace. i bring you knowledge and nuclear power take me to your leader." no you wont (unless your crazy) you would most likely keep walking or maybe step on it and crush it. to aliens our civilization may be nothing more then an ant hill on the side of the road.

  • i get that they could possibly create a worm hole using the power of a star but how could they control where it leads to?

  • @adlufc1141 Technology mate. It's technology that we have yet to discover.

  • Aliens can't beat us. if they can, RUN!!!

  • What if there only in advance in space ships what if everything else they no nothing about???

  • @superpiggypals well to get to the point of intergalactic space travelling ships. the beings have to be pretty intelligent and know a great deal about the universe and physics. so they cant just know how to build a spaceship and not know how a star works

  • No, just no

  • nice sound effects of ricocheting bullets

  • Its nice to know that when the day comes and that we no longer are racist to one another, we'll be racist inclined to aliens.

  • no i dont just think at aliens come from recources thats hollywood shit reacoures are everywhere already

  • An alien race advanced enough to develop time travel would probably have developed weapons of mass destruction a lot sooner*

  • An alien race advanced enough to have developed time travel would have probably developed weapons of mass destruction, assuming of course they are "malevolent." (which is the only type of race that would invade us)

Hence, any malevolent race would probably have destroyed 'themselves' before they would even have a chance to go around terrorising races from other times probably alot dumber and younger than them. A race smart enough to develop time travel would have ascended past such pitifulness.

  • hmm :)

  • Oh shit just got real at 3:05

  • Lets hope the aliens land in Africa

  • @GamesOnCod Racist!!!

  • do you know why i laugh at this? Because aliens can suck up suns but not change something into something they need for example changing air into water.
