hey i enjoyed this vid :) ihave this camera as well, still learning how to do the focusing with live view! but i was wondering if you knew what that song was called its beautiful
(Newbie alert) If you want to shoot video on a wedding or something. Is there a way to set the camera so that everythin is in focus? that way you dont have to deal with manual focus, with the risk of messing up, but you still can do special shoots focusing manually.
@ serhio ....don't call people liars....if u don't believe he didn't shoot it with a nikon get over yourself and take your negativity somewhere else....just because you can't accomplish things you wish you could doesn't give you the right to diss other people's work...grow up...geez
ahaha i know shoot more with my evo 4g than with my new camera....but i dont know what exposure lock is but can u recommend me any how to videos or books that will help me with the photography terminology or just what i can do with my camera...ive been looking everywhere with no luck....
@3carson3 hay mate. yep all hand held. i may have been resting against something but nothing but my hands and eyes were used to make this. The lens has quite good VR (Vibration Reducition) so that was probably on my side.
I DONT BELIVE THAT IT IS NIKON D5000 you guys usesomething else... that guality can be only on canon mark 2 or something like this.. its about all your videos.. why uoy are such a lyers?
they all shoot like a 35mm camera. just cause the dof is so shallow they can look classy if you use it to your advantage. dont call me a lyer just cause where good at what we do.
ur video is great, it gave me ideas for the video i created. i just started photography as a hobby. used to only take bout 3 photos where ever i went, family party, park, etc. but now im taking like 200 pics everytime i go somewhere. i even take this thing into restraunts to use the "food" setting. yes ppl theres a food setting, itll make spam look like gold! well not but makes any food look really good. it has preset functions for just about every scene. thanks
When I tried uploading a video from my d5000 the quality came up really poor as if shot by a camera phone...How did you upload your video with its originality?
Did you stabilize this video? If not, you're like extremely stable, cuz the other videos i've watched that were filmed with this camera are really jittery!
i mean i hv d same camera...but whn d video is gettin recorded ...i hv difficulties in focussing diff things...i cn not focus things...which r at a distance which wsnt der whn i strtd shootin....

55 - 200mm/4-5.6G IF-ED or 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED? I know you're like "WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?" but I'm just wondering because I wanna buy one of those for my D5000 but I'm not sure which one. :'D
umm good question which i think if you look down a few comment pages youll see the answer. im not sure thou. pretty lazy cool track never the less cheers for the comment.
@DigbyHoganFilm89: is the d5000 is weather proof? and has an anti-shake feature? im planning to buy one. is Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 AF-S VR IF ED Lens has its own autofocus function? kind regards. :)
maybe you should have emailed nikon. Butttt. umm its not water proof id thats what your asking but however sunshine wont hurt it. wind isnt too bad either ; ).
Too the second question most of the nikon lenses that have VR will have there own auto focus function but it may pay you to type it into google or make a phone call to get the correct information
That was wonderfully shot! I'm considering of buying one myself after using a few years in the D100. Some people recommended me the D90 though~ decisions, decisions.
I'm telling you, from personal experience, the D90 will get you much further. I seldom use my d5000's video because of the rolling shutter effect, but mostly it boils down to the internal AF motor in the d90. The d5000 doesn't have one. It makes lens purchases MUCH more expensive if you want AF on the d5000, because they need to have an internal motor in the lens itself. Just my two cents.
thanx for video post ...it made my mind clear to go about buying this camera really soon....i have no doubts about the photography but video quality is wht i needed most now...seeing shake in the videos and mono sound caputuring i started looking for canon cameras......but after seeing this great video you shot it really amazed me......from my side in medium range N D5000 is perfecto....
wow so nice.i just bought a D5000 :D! how did u manage to change the focus from the front wall to back wall ? please teach me thanks (on 10'sec-14sec)
its just a manual focus pull. on the left side of your lense will be a switch that says A or M switch it to "M" and it will allow you to manually move your focus ring. When your recording
just play between the 2 focus points and in my case it was the back wall to the front wall.
hey dude. sorry for the late reply. the only answer i have for that is not really in video mode with the d5000 however if you are shooting something planned take some quick measurements from the base of your lense to the subject and match those distances up to that of the corresponding number/s on your focus ring, most likely in ft'. if you dont want to take distances or dont have the right equipment you can as an easy way out switch the focus to auto for a moment and back into photo mode.
zoom in as tight as your lense will allow and hold the button that allows you to take pictures down half way. It will get the exact focus needed for that point and all you need to do is check what number/focal length it has moved to on the focus ring then switch back to manual and video mode and now your know what the perfect focus for your subject will be : if your just shooting random
unpredictable it just comes with practice and teaching your eye what correct focus looks like on the LCD (as small and hard as that may seem) enjoy happy shooting, let me know how you go
And the reviewers keep saying the HD Video in DSLR is just a gimmick. Clearly they are photographers, not movie directors.
Good job on this video, they also complain that it has mono sound and you can't use the camera as a substitute of a camcorder... haha. Is a nice plus to have HD Video and the good videos have sound added to it, you just showed it. Good video, I'll getting this in a couple of weeks. You should get 35mm f1.8 DX =). I'll get that and 18-200mm!!
and i meant it took me 1 hr to shoot and a few to cut together.
and yer the only people who are bagging (paying out) the product are the photographers. there just jealous they cant buy a video camera that takes stills ... oh wait they can! mmm and for the time being the 2000$ for that lens can stay in my pocket. still cool.
have fun with your purchase, keep me filled in, post me a vid. would love to see what you do with it.
I'm buying this camera because I like the Titl and Swivel- Articulating LCD screen. It's also the only digital camera made to date that mounts swivel LCD screen on the rear bottom of the camera rather than mounting it on the left side like all the Olympus E- Series Cameras do. And Canon doesn't even make a Tilt and swivel LCD, What's with that? I've been saving my money and I'll be buying this camera this week with the awesome 18mm-200mm VR(vibration reduction)lens. Lens is about $800. Ouch.
Next time you shoot video with the d5000 make sure you press AE LOCK aka exposure lock that will get rid of the light flickering aka constant exposure change in the video. Also to reduce the jello effect make you have VR turned off if using a vr lens
hey, yeah thanx. it was really just a muck around. it wasnt bothing me to much so i wasnt taken to the extra effort. however When i turned off VR in video mode i preferred the "jello" effect too the "shake" esspecially at 200mm. do you have 1? how do you prefer VR when shooting?
yeah, i noticed that too but what i had to weigh up was (just so you know im more into the world of digital video and film than photography) i could get the 5D MK11 with the equilvent lens's which would set me back 7- 8k or i could get a red rock cine lens adaptor or Letus who do the same for one of the prosumer cameras 7 - 8 k after lens's and adaptor (not including prosumer camera like V1P or a Z1P)
orrrrrr i could pay $1800 for a twin lens kit that does 720p video with standard nikon lens's and im happy with its down falls cause you get what you pay for but on the bright side its a bloody good little camera and if i may say so my self taking into account everything i just said i think the footage is O.K.
