Copyright law will be a sticky business during the next few years. I think that patents and trademarks will be vigorously protected by the courts, defending both corporate and individual entities. Copyright law will be more interpretive based upon intent and distribution of the owner of the copyright and whether that owner was harmed. For the time being the legal profession, and therefore the courts are in catch up mode to the new digital reality. David Houle

How do you see copyright playing out at opposed to the US Legal System? Last week's anti-google ruling showcased a court system that is interested in preserving corporate technology IP, but not personal privacy for the sake of copyright. Do you see the courts as evolving to cater to individual privacy rights even at the expense of copyright, and copyright becoming a more or less complex issue with regards to the delineation between media and IP?

Thank you. Copyright laws will move from the perspective of the manufacturing or service model to the rapidly developing sector of the workforce and workplace that is based upon collaborative interactions.

This is wonderful, pertinent commentary! I'm familiar with Ray Kurzweil's writings; if you believe him, then once nanoassemblers come on stage practically everything will be intellectual property.

We still have a lot of legal work to do in protecting the integrity of international copyright intellectual property laws.
