@Deliciousfruit233 you need to get to the end of the level before the timer goes below 100. it's very important to get that shell at the beginning so you can go faster.

You could take the shell with you all the time through the ghost room and throw the shell at the last box while you still have the star.

It is quiet a clever idea actually; it would be necessary if stars where static like flowers are.
