this car use to be mine i put the 302, c 6 tranny and 3500 stall in it ,i also had the black custom exhaust with chrome tips put on it . its a mid to high 12 second street car with street tires and it went 12.20's on semi slicks. its a fun car to drive but it needed a 9 inch rear end
How much was the 302 after the build? the ford motors are slightly lighter than the chevy small-blocks, but out here in CA, building a ford motor is very costly compared to chevy.
I did the 383SBC in my Z, including re-paint, new frame rails and subframe additions, TKO 5-speed and short-shifter for less than $7k.
They are easy to do all you need are the specially made motor mounts and transmission mounts and it all bolts right in. The Two biggest problems you would have are positioning the transmission shift lever and hooking up the throttle. Everything else is pretty straight forward stuff.
