This is a great Audition! This guy gives the band a chance to understand what his live stage presence would be like as well as his raw vocal abilities. He doesn't hide behind compression, he allows the true strength of his voice to be observed. An honest audition. Any band guy can be made over to look more "metal." Look at that guy singing for DEVILDRIVER, he used to trashtalk metal bands and looked like a goth weakling when he was in COAL CHAMBER, now he changed his look and he is "legit."

He's pulling up chest voice way too much which is very clear to realise for someone who knows anything about singing. Makes the high notes sound forced and damages the vocal chords in the long run.

He would be epic for the band just because of his stage presence tho, and of course he could learn to sing aswell hence doing it much better.

I think people would be surprised how good he would sound in the studio with good gear, a proper mix and a proper producer. Many singers don't sound too much different than this in this context.

I was just thinking as I was reading all the haters that if you got the right formula together, this guy wouldn't sound too different from many others out there these days. And yes, he is not near the top of the DF auditions. I've seen Eli's audition and loved it! He's clearly the lead candidate in my book! See the comments I left on his audition a few days ago comparing him to Kyle Michaels.

@timandmonica I have seen Kyle Michaels audition and he is a very talented singer, though his voice is not quite right for DF. His voice is very powerful, but its more edgy then melodic. PelleK is my second choice, because his voice is incredible, but it seems like the quality of his voice decreases as the song goes on, so i don't think he could handle singing 3-4 hours on stage. Eli is the only person i've seen who i think can handle it.

@spheremaster90 I like your analysis of Michaels - well said! They are both powerful but in very different ways. Michaels seems to have to force it out but Eli is pure grace coupled with all of that power. And I also agree about the stamina issue - it's something I hadn't considered but will be a huge factor for whoever DF chooses. All Eli's vocal training would have set him apart when it comes to stamina if his vocal quality hadn't. I'll paste what I wrote about Eli above.
