Nobody Likes someone who types in caps. I would not do striaght pipes if you want a deep mellow sound, Try a large res close to the headers as possible with your choice of muffler, you cant really say what sound it will make its more or less a guess. Other than the basic principles of course.

It's cool to see the new designs, but I'll like to hear some sound samples on something typical, like a Chevy 350. My 1976 Ford motorhome has a 460 with dual exhaust (no crossover) and 6-foot long Cherry Bomb mufflers. It sounds like like a muscle car should, and the sound alone usually suckers people into trying to race me -- in my motorhome! It sounds awesome, with a very deep tone and no high-pitched noise like you get from a standard "high-performance" muffler.

i do live in nh, and if your name is the year of your truck (1994) then you should be fine, as far as emissions goes. any car 1994 or older doesn't need to pass emissions so the muffler isn't illegal in that sense. and i know certain mufflers such as the vortext, glasspack, and turbo are perfectly fine in this state. I don't see any reason why the pro would be illegal in your case.
