The zoo said it's a "Neolamprologus pulcher daffodil" and not its cousin "Brichardi". At least they are definitely no albinos.

i venture to say its too crowded. i learned fish relax more when they got fin room! and they can breath better.

I think, the problem in this tank is, that this species do breed so effective. They have huge filters and the video is made shortly after feeding time... so... maybe a problem, but not that big.

First of all: This is not my tank, it's a tank of a Zoo Aquarium near my hometown.

What i do in my tanks?

A good illumination with four fluorescent tubes with altogether 188 Watts and 13hours a day.

The very good german tap-water without any chemicals in it.

@n03lzz Hi again, I would say also that if they are breeding their environment must be conducive for it. These fish are very interesting the parents raise the first generation and then in the next breeding the juveniles bring up their baby siblings. I kept them once several years ago, you probably have too. :D

Nice tank. I bet there are some fights when spawning time comes around though!

I find that the Brichardi [much like the V. Moorii] can be highly agressive when defending both spawning locations and broods.

There is something special in the breeding behavior of Princess cichlids. It's called "Etagenzucht" in german, something like "tier-breed". That means, that the parents accept their older fry in their territory when they breed again. And the older fry also help to guard the younger ones.

Überfütterte Fische sind krankheitsanfälliger. die feenbuntbarsche hier scheinen mir jedoch sehr gut ernährt, man sieht weder eine "Wölbung nach Innen oder Außen"von der Aussage halte ich sowieso nichts,weil die Flanke der Fische immer ein wenig nach Außen gewölbt ist nach der Fütterung;)

Bei einem ausreichend ernährten Lamprologus brichardi wölbt sich das Bäuchlein ein klein wenig nach außen, nicht nach innen.

Und aus reiner Neugier: was sind denn das für Spinner, die meinem völlig harmlosen Kommentar 2 "Daumen-runter" verpasst haben? Was soll das?

Ich meine doch bei vielen Tieren eben jene Wölbung sehen zu können (ist das nicht bei fast allen Fischen so?^^). Ich selbst bin aber kein Experte in Sachen Feenbuntbarsche.

Ich freu mich dennoch über jeden aufmerksamen Zuschauer. Danke für deine Kommentare!

Watt? Viel zu viele is erstmal relativ, das Becken macht auf mich einen recht grossen Eindruck, und ich kann nur eine einzige verletzte Rückenflosse (Minute 1.17) sehen, daher würd ich sagen, ist es okay, vielleicht ein bisschen überbesatz....

Aber wieso kommst du drauf, das die Unterernährt sind? Woran machst du das fest?

Hi,

ich denke mal, dass das Becken schon um die 800 Liter und mehr fasst. Die Frontscheibe ist ja schon 120 * 100 cm.

Sie haben auf mich keinen unterernährten Eindruck gemacht.

Und wie gesagt, das Becken ist wirklich groß und in dem Video wurde gerade mit Cyclops gefüttert, daher sind alle Tiere vorne.

hatte auch ma Feenbarsche, echt schöne Tiere, besonderst weil die nich nur dämlich in der gegend rumschwimmen sondern immer wo anderst lang schwimmen. schönes video.

Naja, das Becken hat immerhin (schätzungsweise) über 750 Liter Inhalt. Es sieht wirklich etwas überfüllt aus, aber inwiefern das jetzt für die Fische artgerecht ist vermag ich nicht zu beurteilen. Ich meine auch, dass ein paar Minuten vorher gefüttert wurde.

Unfortunately this is not my tank so i don't know the exact size. But for scale: The front glass panel is 1,2 meter (3.93 feet) high.

I think, that is because of a very special character of those cichlids. It's called "Etagenzucht" in german, something like "tier-breed". That means, the parents accept also bigger fry in their territory, and breed again. The older brothers and sisters assist their parents in breeding and guarding the new fry. So they reproduce very good under the right conditions.
