nothing's been done to fix it. the computers i used in 2000 to vote for gore, are the same i used to vote for kerry in 2004, and are the same i used in 2008 to vote for Obama. but for some reason in 2008 they actually worked.
I just don't believe that both sides are "the same" and they just put on a dog and pony show to fool the electorate. Barack and the Dems are puppets of this system - not it's masters. I think that it serves the coporatocracy to have a Democratic president fail because it discredits progressive liberalism.
Final point. Liberals and Conservatives ARE different from one another, their leadership may not always represent those differences, but there are real differences between the two.
i agree with you. it amazes me how other countries, like canada, can have such simple ways of voting and everything goes off without a hitch. america, however, has some of the most cutting edge technology, and we can't get our heads out of our asses when we vote.
Curiously, blackboxvoting and all these other orgs make weak suggestions, ignoring educating about exit polls that are being eliminated that have highlighted the problem.
After the New Hampshire debacle with Ron Paul and the weirdness in California, we need exit polls everywhere and monitors of some sort.
This is America for crying out loud and our elections have been stolen over and over. WTF?!?
In Canada we never question if the elections were rigged. We also haven't seen them fuck around with computers. It's all paper records. I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way. Paper method is wwaayyhaayy cheaper also, in more ways than one.
I'd say, in the US, demand that all computerized voting methods are banned. Paper records - far more tamper proof.
Computerized systems *WILL* be rigged - that is a proven given.
Canada, as does the USA, unfortunately uses the first-past-the-post / Plurality voting system.
Counting is done locally for each riding. I don't know if it's always counted in one central place for each riding, or at each location where people vote.
HS-Immigration is going to be out in force on Election Day again, sitting in plain, unmarked vans and running the plates of Hispanic-appearing voters pulling into the lot. If they catch a non-citizen voting, it's an instant felony, no bail, and you're on the next bus back, with a PERMANENT "ineligible" marked on your file if you even try to immigrate legally later.
Local cops are in the vans too, running plate & warrant checks against African-Americans arriving.
And America monitors, interfere with or monitors elections in nations overseas. Now honestly, doesn't President Bush who stole an election look like a complete idiot for attemptimg to have sanctions brought against the President of Somalia or any other world leader?
American exceptionalism is an international problem. Political exceptionism is a domestic president. One thing for sure is if anyone other than Republicans were benefitting from fraud something would be done!
Allenrw3 is a stupid Obama lovin' democrat

But what about the software in those computers and the software that's used to count, store, and retrieve the votes?

I think because the turnout was so huge and the anger at the GOP was so intense, that they knew it would look suspicious if McCain won.
Besides now the GOP has 4 to 8 years to deflect blame for all it's (deliberate) misgovernment onto Democrats.

They take turns when we've had enough garbage from one party they switch to their next puppet.
("They"=Owners of the unFederal ReserveLESS INC.)
When the "liberal" are in they perform their needs from that parties perspective.
They desperately need to disarm the restless and pissed Americans, and it would have been more questionable, if not impossible for McCain.
The "Kennedy Brown shirts" would have been odd as well. Like Hitler's fascists, and East Germany, we now need internal snitches.

It's hard to believe until you compare Germany's path to fascism and look at the longer term, back to Clinton.

as far as i can tell, it hasn't changed much.

At least this time around it wasn't a close call.
But for the future it's imperative that voting systems are accurate.

It's called the "O o p s B u s i n e s s M o d e l";
a very old tactic where profitable or beneficial fraud is passed off as human or computer error.

good point.

Are your counts done manually in the voting houses? (ie. to compare with what ultimately is posted by the computer scanned voting cards.)
Or are they, at the "county" level, also manually counted? (Whatever you have for an equivalent to our counties.)
