I guess the reason this aint taught anymore is because we're not in the age of fighting battles with fists anymore. Ancient warriors used to use this fighting style for battle when they lost their swords, but now we have fucking nuclear weapons. Plus Muay Thai is too dangerous; teach it to a fool and he'll go and kill someone accidentally. There are too many fools out there these days.

@therealist811 Honestly, it's not that much more dangerous than regular muay thai. People say that it's a sport with all sorts of regulations so it's less deadly. Well that's crap, the kind of regulations they put in place were things like no grappling (a big part of muay boran) and no headbutts. That being said, muay boran is a more complete martial art but there's no secret death punches and any strike that could kill someone in muay boran is in muay thai.

@armadilloHD there are no secret death punches, there are flying death elbows and knees in your face, and limb/bone breaking techniques none are secret, and I only spar muay boran, although i normally use luk mai cuz they are the minor techniques, but sometimes for fun i also initiate mae mai but i use control if i make an elbow to the crown of the head its just a tap to show my partner hes gone, muay boran fighting is many times more tiring than muay thai and i leave the ring injured everytime

@armadilloHD the angles of attack as well as the techniques used are vastly more numerous the muay thai, alot of them can overwhelm an opponent quickly i practiced muay thai for 5 years and have been doing boran for 2, boran is much more tiring because of the stance and the moves involved, the attack is much more relentless, and theresmore grappling, more elbows than mt, flying side knees and many more combos because we dont wear gloves the fight is more fluid, requires much more finesse to do

@armadilloHD mentally i dont fight any less brutal or put any less strength into mt than i do with boran but its because of having no gloves and in general being more mobile with less rules that muay boran is more fluid= and if you are more fluid your attack will also increase and you will be pulling off more brutal stuff overall

@armadilloHD and that above is muay chaiya, a form of boran, it is not as brutal as the northern forms as chaiya is a very refined(counter-orientated form) that uses small movements i use the chaiya hand stance and low body form as i find it very effective for defense esp against mma/grapplers but my overall game consists of other forms of boran that have major more power moves

this style of Muay Boran is from the Chaiya area of Thailand, meaning from the Southern part. You can tell by the stance and the kicks. Chaiya is known for it's strong stance and grappling, monkey moves. You guys should see the Boran styles from the other regions of Thailand.

because theyre training you idiot, maybe even choreographed. if you broke a bone or tore a muscle every time you trained, you wouldnt be a very effective fighter now would you? and how do you know if theyre doing it properly or not? you dont practice the art at all so you have no basis of saying what theyre doing is inccorect. Muay Boran is the traditional style from Thailand. It's like Kung Fu: non competitive, based on forms and drills. it's not governed by rules and includes the all of the moves. Do Muay Boran, preserve tradition and learn more :)
