Hi all... was wondering how do i skip the FMVs for PS3 version? I had downloaded it from the PSN and i'm gonna try to get this awesome weapon. Thanks in advance. =)
@dnts84 You can't. the FMVs all in all add maybe an hour onto the game so you have to effectively get it done in 11hrs instead of 12. Still doable with some careful planning. This is what I plan to do after I complete the game regularly on PS3 again.
Uhh, stonedimonium...you're kind of totally wrong about that info. The clock has to go through 256 revolutions of 100 hours (that's over TWO YEARS) to reset the timer back to 0. So simply waiting around for the clock to hit 100 hours one time isn't going to do anything but waste one's time. You're better off legitimately trying to do the under 12 hour run...unless you really wanna leave your system on for over two years...knock yourself out! =]
Congrats for the Excalibur 2, ive gotten it 3 times and have 1 more to go. Gotta make a perfect level 1 run (or at least as close to that as possible).
O_O I have played to FFIX for all my life from when i was 11years old and i have discovered every secret possible in FFIX (there are many) but i have never seen the Excalibur II before this! i have all the 100 card, so i know how it's the sword but i have never seen in battle! you have done the game in a few hours for unlock this sword right?
i hope you guys know that once the game timer reaches 99 hours, it resets itself. so you can sit in the area before ever reaching the terrace in memoria, wait til timer hits 00:01:00, then go and get the excalibur ll. i hope relaying this information to all you fiends wanting the sword didn't break your hearts and piss you off because you never thought about it. :P
i remember its requires you to open and close the tray of the ps1 to skip the movie scene. can you still make that possible if you play this game in the psp?. the PSN version?..
@16Soyuz He did a level 1 perfect game, meaning he went through the entire game in a speed run while getting everything at level 1. And it is possible to beat it at level one, since you can use things like Add ST: Stop and Petrify to finish battles. Quina's Limit Globe will 1hko every boss till Beatrix second fight (It will do 9999 damage if Quina has 1HP) and Steiner's Charge! makes it very possible. Tough mind you, but doable.

LOL, on your final fight with kuja, use Amarant = Wind knuckles = 9999 damage; Freya = Dragon's Crest = 9999 damage (If you level on grand dragons), Zidane = Ultima Weapon = 9000+ damage, and Eiko = Healer... Getting excalibur 2 is useless.. -_-"
@StephonST Lol what? I personally havent used amarant on Ozma, But No Mercy and Attack can hit 9999 fairly easily. On Ozma Counter Magic - Doomdsday easy 9999.
All you have to do is buy the old gameshark, leave memoria and reset the timer lol and its all yours once you get to the terrace. Excalibur II isnt the only thing i used codes for. I also hacked beatrix in hehe shes so epic along with the tantalus trio and changed their abilities around to my liking. I hacked in beatrix at lvl 99 with an excalibur II and Tin Armor :).
My hat is off to you. I've beaten every ff game from 1-13 and found every secret on every game more than once, but I've never done this. You are a true gamer.
Congratulation man! You did it. Personally I would never sacrifice a perfect game for the Excalibur II. I preferred a perfect game, with all maxed/fully skilled characters, every secondary mission accomplished without missing a thing. However it must be funny to try the level 1 challenge or the Ex II challenge, but it wouldn't be that satisfying to me.
oh yeah...... i forgot......... virus prevents the gaining of EXP. i got confused why he was lvl 1 haha. u keep him killed off until u get a vaccine, then use it on him, and he gains a virus
it wasnt a hack just combine it was a undeath moster the excalibur 2 got 108 atk + holy atk the weakness of undeath monster the undeath monster was a dragon and steiner used the abilty to get mor dmg against them every 1 would get 9999 dmg against this this way
hey the Strike value grew up to 108 there is no relation ship between levelling up and the skill point But I can Inflect 9999 damage with Steiner using his normal 12 attack sword with equipping Attack MP and by casting Might many times and casting berserk on Steiner while he is in trance mood with Critical hit on Grand Dragon try that this would be interesting work to do

@ThePocketManster Oops, you're right. Just checked up on it again. All due to hitting the data cap, apparently. (Still takes forever to set up though. 65536 enemies is a *lot* of random battles, and Vincent has to deal the final blow to all of them....)
@ThePocketManster Not a glitch. You kill enough things with the Death Penalty and it does enough damage to kill anything in a single hit. Takes forever to set up, though....
I remember reading/hearing from somewhere/someone that it's impossible to get a perfect save in FFIX's PAL version, due to the differing frame rates (50Hz in PAL, 60Hz in NTSC). And the differing frame rates is what causes the timer to go faster in the PAL version, which in turn makes it impossible to achieve a good time.

i see you used virus on him all the time untill you could switch your party members and then went on for the blade, put steiner back in your party, equip him with the sword and then went on the fight must say it should have been hard maintaining his lvl
Its equipping that Defender which allows Steiner to equip a Dark Matter since the Defender all but takes care of maxing Spirit. This allows Steiner to become the heaviest hitter, physical attack-wise.
But I prefer to level Markus up to 99 and transfer the stats over to Eiko instead of rushing through for the Excalibur II. IMO, its an inferior sword and a pimped out Eiko is crazy awesome.
and @Eorzean I really dont understand why it's "easy" get stats maintaining lv1, cause I never played "locking" lvls, and almost got full stats, but seen these videos with chars lv1 killing bosses and etc, makes me wanna try too hehe
all EX-2 is, is a reminder that you just wasted ~12 hours of your life. it's really not worth skipping through a great game just for one weapon...your better off enjoying the game a just cheating for the sword

@YourePrettyGoood Finest? Hah. You mean most stressful. I have to start all over because I am in the laboratory at levels 25-34, with no good knowledge along the way other than instincts. I have 3 Embrodeired, 1 Golden, but nothing really to pull strings, and not even my Quickenings at their highest can dent Dr. Cid. ;_; I'm actually starting over cause I like the story really... Game is stressful and draws many good items by luck...but I guess it can work enhancing my patience... -__-
@enlighteneveryone lol its all good. 12 was awesome too. You will breeze through that game after the first playthrough. Look up the zodiac spear. There are some chests that you cant open in the beggining to get it. If you do it disapears. I know, i know...it's stupid. I missed it my first playthrough. But I got 2 of them on my second. If the first one disapears then your chances of getting one are like a billion to one. Seriously, the odds of getting endgame items is SUPER rediculus, but fun!
@enlighteneveryone I accually beat the game before I went for my first zodiac spear. To be honest, it might take a lot of the challenge out of the game. Accually, it definetly will. Up to you. Game is much harder without it though.(which is a good thing).

@YourePrettyGoood I agree this game is very fun and replayable. I played this game 4 times I believe. Although, I have no idea who the fuck would want to replay this game in the most difficult ways for something that won't even feel that rewarding. I mean once you get the best weapon in the game it stays in the game. What are you gonna go around killing more monsters you know are gonna die easily? Extremely boring and pointless.
@jonnyRYhollywood It's for the challenge, and to say you did it. After playing games a ton of times MOST people want to challenge themselves to make their experience more enjoyable and prevent overall redundancy. Doing challenge run's are rewarding in their own right, I personally get more satisfaction out of alot of games by doing so. And the Excalibur II is only obtained in 12hr's or bust, which leads to more stratagizing then usual. Getting a pefect game is for completionist. w/e suits you.
I've been thinking lately, is it possible to get damage overflow in this game, like in FF7? I mean like, doing everything here, but putting it to sleep, with 99 strength at level 99, in berserk, with a critical hit, under mini. That's A LOT of damage there...
@jpoon919 its actually not that hard if you're only going for the excalibure 2, all that other stuff this guy is doing is just a little too much (at least for me it is).
i remember finding a glitch on the game when you got some of the characters skills all of them yore characters wood Chang in it the one when you first play the game but then the game wood screw up and crash a lot
i did the level one thing once and got the EX2 once natually rest i cheated my ass off cause i didnt want to go threw the pain of geting it again but i do replay the game many time go threw the story as of all the final fantasy i replay many of them many times
@pspmasterful Hey if you really played this game in full depth, you'll know that this is legit. You have to beat the game in less than 12 hours. And as you can see here, 1whoistornapart has Steiner with the virus. And the virus does not allow the carrier to recieve EXP or AP. The Excalibur II is the most strongest weapon there is in IX. And it is possible to get it.. but damn.. you have to skip FMV's and run away and what not. Another thing, he is fighting a Zombie Dragon :P
You can do it on PS3 and PSP. There is a series of vids on here of a guy getting EX2 without skipping FMVs and has around 30 minutes to spare. And there are runs faster than that out there.
I think anyone who gets this game on PS3 or PSP shouldn't even bother geting the Excalibur 2 because you have to know the game inside and out, get to the one room in Memoria in under 12 hours on Disc 4, and practically can't have extra time leveling up until after you get the sword. Worse, the close-the-disc-tray trick that worked on the PS1 won't work on the PS3 or PSP. But if anyone does get the EX2 on their downloaded systems would be very lucky.
@Izynichol You have to beat the game in a certain amount of time? I think its like 11 hours or somthing like that which is no easy task. I have tried but no luck
@unclemings you dont have to beat the game but on the last place you goto when you fight the boss RIGHT before you reach Kuja you get Excalibur II if you've done it within 11 hours i did it in 12 hours I WAS SO PISSED lol

Y'all can thumb me down if you want but when I would reach the place where the Excalibur II stands I would save and cheat to get it instead of doing it within 16hours and miss 99% of one of the GREATEST stories ever.
i've spent more than 700 hours playing FFIX, and i've never tried to do it within 12 hours for getting excalibur2 ...so ironic. and i feel ashamed also :p yeah, and i am sure that's the only remaining thing i didn't do in FFIX. i should definitely try to get ex2 :d
acully everythign he did was LEGIT!! Virus is a status effect that neutralizes ALL exp gain he obviously inflicted Steiner with it early on and never emoved it got Excali 2 put on the Holy boost items AND focused on steiners Holy prowess and agaisnt a Zombie dragosn thats pretty much isnta KO so nope not cheating (I also read the mechanics for the game very plausable)
@safersephiroth50 Steiner starts at lvl 1 and you maintain him that way. Look, this is a popular perfect game, boosted stats method and I've done this myself (some 3 years ago) that's why I bitch about people questioning it.

Steiner hit value will be 4 times in trance mood than his normal hit pulse using buff magic and zodiac equip to increase hit attack rate

all EX-2 is, is a reminder that you just wasted ~12 hours of your life. it's really not worth skipping through a great game just for one weapon...your better off enjoying the game a just cheating for the sword

@losthaze Nah, it gives the game replay value. No one is going to go for Excalibur II on their first playthrough. Chances are you won't even know anything about it until you finish the game. There are now different ways to finish the game. Just getting EX-2, getting EX-2 and perfect game, getting EX-2 and maintaining lvl 1. All this is more challenging than just finishing the game normally. I think it was a nice touch. Makes the game almost endless. This is rpg at its finest.

I have 3 Embrodeired, 1 Golden, but nothing really to pull strings, and not even my Quickenings at their highest can dent Dr. Cid. ;_; I'm actually starting over cause I like the story really... Game is stressful and draws many good items by luck...but I guess it can work enhancing my patience... -__-

@enlighteneveryone lol its all good. 12 was awesome too. You will breeze through that game after the first playthrough. Look up the zodiac spear. There are some chests that you cant open in the beggining to get it. If you do it disapears. I know, i know...it's stupid. I missed it my first playthrough. But I got 2 of them on my second. If the first one disapears then your chances of getting one are like a billion to one. Seriously, the odds of getting endgame items is SUPER rediculus, but fun!

@enlighteneveryone I accually beat the game before I went for my first zodiac spear. To be honest, it might take a lot of the challenge out of the game. Accually, it definetly will. Up to you. Game is much harder without it though.(which is a good thing).

Although, I have no idea who the fuck would want to replay this game in the most difficult ways for something that won't even feel that rewarding. I mean once you get the best weapon in the game it stays in the game. What are you gonna go around killing more monsters you know are gonna die easily? Extremely boring and pointless.

After playing games a ton of times MOST people want to challenge themselves to make their experience more enjoyable and prevent overall redundancy. Doing challenge run's are rewarding in their own right, I personally get more satisfaction out of alot of games by doing so. And the Excalibur II is only obtained in 12hr's or bust, which leads to more stratagizing then usual. Getting a pefect game is for completionist. w/e suits you.

I've been thinking lately, is it possible to get damage overflow in this game, like in FF7? I mean like, doing everything here, but putting it to sleep, with 99 strength at level 99, in berserk, with a critical hit, under mini. That's A LOT of damage there...

@pspmasterful Hey if you really played this game in full depth, you'll know that this is legit. You have to beat the game in less than 12 hours. And as you can see here, 1whoistornapart has Steiner with the virus. And the virus does not allow the carrier to recieve EXP or AP. The Excalibur II is the most strongest weapon there is in IX. And it is possible to get it.. but damn.. you have to skip FMV's and run away and what not. Another thing, he is fighting a Zombie Dragon :P

You can do it on PS3 and PSP. There is a series of vids on here of a guy getting EX2 without skipping FMVs and has around 30 minutes to spare. And there are runs faster than that out there.

I think anyone who gets this game on PS3 or PSP shouldn't even bother geting the Excalibur 2 because you have to know the game inside and out, get to the one room in Memoria in under 12 hours on Disc 4, and practically can't have extra time leveling up until after you get the sword. Worse, the close-the-disc-tray trick that worked on the PS1 won't work on the PS3 or PSP. But if anyone does get the EX2 on their downloaded systems would be very lucky.

@unclemings you dont have to beat the game but on the last place you goto when you fight the boss RIGHT before you reach Kuja you get Excalibur II if you've done it within 11 hours i did it in 12 hours I WAS SO PISSED lol

acully everythign he did was LEGIT!! Virus is a status effect that neutralizes ALL exp gain he obviously inflicted Steiner with it early on and never emoved it got Excali 2 put on the Holy boost items AND focused on steiners Holy prowess and agaisnt a Zombie dragosn thats pretty much isnta KO so nope not cheating (I also read the mechanics for the game very plausable)
