The popular verse most often used is Leviticus, which is not scripture but a code of law with no special precidence for one over the other. If people are going to use leviticus as an excuse to call homosexuality a sin then it is just as sinful to eat a ham sandwich after you come home from work on saturday. A woman, if in an area where she could cry out and get help, didn't, that is why she was given to the man as a wife. The thing is, the man who rapes her no longer has the option of divorce for any reason. Also, you seem to ignore that if a woman is raped and cannot cry out, she doesn't have to marry him, she isn't punished at all and the man is put to death.

The passage where she is given in marriage seems more to be referring to a man who takes hold of a woman and "forces" her, but where the woman seems to be somewhat complicit in the act (i.e. maybe it's not speaking of rape so much as somewhat consenting sex. She wants to, but is hesitant, so he goes ahead and has sex with her.). But as I pointed out, your deliberate deception lies in the fact that you avoided the section dealing with a woman who is forced and can't cry out....

Back then, largely for survival, people became bond-servants or sold their children into bond-servitude so that they COULD SURVIVE. The bond-servant would have a place to stay, food to eat, clothes to wear and productive work to do and the master was instructed not to be a harsh master.
You, or someone else tried to argue that Scripture only gave punishment to a mastre if he killed a bond-servant immediately, but if the servant survived for a few days....then no punishment. That is not what the passage is saying. It is saying that if the servant recovers, if he does not die after several days (indicating recovery), then there is no punishment. But even that is not entirely true. The master is REQUIRED to free that bond-servant.

The popular verse most often used is Leviticus, which is not scripture but a code of law with no special precidence for one over the other. If people are going to use leviticus as an excuse to call homosexuality a sin then it is just as sinful to eat a ham sandwich after you come home from work on saturday. It is just as sinful to not execute your children if they dont clean their room when you tell them to.

The Hebrew word for "know" or "yada" is what many gay Christian opponents exploit to "prove" the so called "sin" of Sodom. This word has SEVERAL different definitions. A woman, if in an area where she could cry out and get help, didn't, that is why she was given to the man as a wife. The passage where she is given in marriage seems more to be referring to a man who takes hold of a woman and "forces" her, but where the woman seems to be somewhat complicit in the act (i.e. maybe it's not speaking of rape so much as somewhat consenting sex. She wants to, but is hesitant, so he goes ahead and has sex with her.). But as I pointed out, your deliberate deception lies in the fact that you avoided the section dealing with a woman who is forced and can't cry out....

@phoenix1985 I'm assuming that was a tangential question to theology as the only way to answer that would be scripture since we're dealing with "sin" in relation to Jesus Christ. If that's the case, then yes, homosexuality would be a sin in a scriptural sense. At least according to some interpretations of Leviticus 18:22 and or natural law through a scriptural interpretation. So my question is, could you please clarify your question?

@phoenix1985 - I am not coming to realize anything of the kind. I know the doctrine of my faith chronicles sinful people being sinful people. It doesn't hold back. It doesn't shy away from expounding upon what happens when a particular culture reaches a level of wickedness that evokes from God the response of destruction. The Scripture is a very honest and open revelation of God and His dealings with a fallen and corrupt mankind. And, in the great majority of Scripture, He is most merciful.

As for murder? I am presuming that YOU are the kind of idiot who believes ALL killing is murder. That is not the case. The murder that God prohibits is killing someone who, among mankind, would be considered an innocent. Police officers - for the most part - kill in self-defense or the defense of others. Soldiers fighting against tyranny and oppression kill to save those people who are being victimized by such tyranny and oppression.

@phoenix1985 - Nope, you have really only painted the picture according to your own inadequate understandings of Scripture. You fail to see that everyone then and now is a slave to something. Back then, largely for survival, people became bond-servants or sold their children into bond-servitude so that they COULD SURVIVE. The bond-servant would have a place to stay, food to eat, clothes to wear and productive work to do and the master was instructed not to be a harsh master.

You, or someone else tried to argue that Scripture only gave punishment to a mastre if he killed a bond-servant immediately, but if the servant survived for a few days....then no punishment. That is not what the passage is saying. It is saying that if the servant recovers, if he does not die after several days (indicating recovery), then there is no punishment. But even that is not entirely true. The master is REQUIRED to free that bond-servant.

Christianity never spoke against interracial marriage. The passage "do not be unequally yoked" is speaking of religious belief, not ethnicity. In fact, Scripture clearly indicates that we are ALL related as it is. And it isn't just decriminalizing homosexuality that is the issue.

Speaking of which, I have told people before that I do not favor re-criminalizing homosexuality UNLESS heterosexual adultery and fornication were also reestablished as criminal offenses.
