  • @chrismckenzie3327 Yeah i think you did :)

  • Preytor?

  • "I've got a mantis in my pantis"

  • Mamma mia!

  • There's only one person who can handle this. Call in Bugs Bunny.

  • I have all these old movies on dvd. Memories of childhood scares

  • I blame global warming for unleashing this.

  • 1:34: hey that's not fair, not even King Kong, the Beast from 20,000 Fathams, Zilla, Clover, or Godzilla got the privilage to go on a rampage in the capital, so why does a giant bug get the honor of being the first, and so far only, (non-Alien) movie monster to trash Washington DC

  • Cryptozoology novel see video book trailer

  • Mantids cannot fly for they do not posses wings.

  • @TheRedDevilTV They can fly and they do have wings.

  • Imagine how many years bad luck you get from killing this thing :(

  • This is Paul Drake was doing when not helping Perry Mason or putting the moves on Della.

  • I saw this on the late late late show when I was a kid (way back when). It was hard for me to be afraid of the mantis because my mother had caught one and trained it. We kept it as a house pet in an old aquarium. It was very friendly.

I had no idea they were viscious killers!

  • I thought that Paul Drake worked full time for Perry Mason. How did he ever find the time to be in a monster movie ??

  • Peter Gunn and Paul Drake take on the Mantis - what a concept!

    Good ol' Jack Arnold!

  • Chuck Norris's toy

  • Godzilla took out 3 of those things.

  • These praying mantis had fight with Godzilla i The Son Of Godzilla

  • its funny how all old movie traylers say things like "the most scaring scenes ever" and so on....and, why does the mantis scream like a monkey or sth like that^^

  • i love this movie

  • Another great bug movie from the 1950's!

  • nothing beats THE GIANT CLAW-big as a a battleship

  • The roar is classic! I want it as a soundbyte!

  • Ever watch the "Munsters"?

Both the series and this film were made by Universal.

Every time one of the Munster family opens up the stairwell entrance and you see "Spot" the dragon, you can hear the same sound as the mantis made.

  • @vawlkee51 It has been YEARS since I have watched the Munsters so I barely remember the sound. But I really want that soundbyte. LOL

  • lol got to see it

  • Look!, its Paul Drake, from Perry Mason

  • at 1:47 it's the Ghost Busters.

  • I enjoyed this flick very much

  • this movies rock!

  • I love 50s sci-fi and horror...love those big bug movies....time for a remake of Them!

  • This, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why global warming is bad as giant prehistoric insects will come back to life and lay our cities to waste!

  • yea....hehehehe

  • The first giant praying mantis monster before Kamacuras.

  • :59 lol

  • It's funny how just about anything in the 50's can wake up after being stuck in ice and be perfectly fine.

But I guess that's what completes these things, they are fun in that way.

  • I guess it was a simpler time, before we understood how ice works. X]

  • That's true, just like how nuclear power could do anything a writer or film director wanted it to :P

  • The 50s thought nuclear power was simultaneously the awesomest and most dangerous thing in the world!

By the way, as this is a kaiju vid, anyone who recognises my username do tell me. I've been YooToob for years and no one has! =[

  • If I'm correct Gomess was from the series Ultra Q which was aired before the original Ultraman series. I'd love to see that episode of Utra Q!

  • oooh a kamacuras...we need godzilla here folks!

  • I love how in the old movies, they would take any animal and make it big. xD

  • man i love these old 50's sci-fi movies

  • I've always read that this movie is supposedly one of the lousiest late '50s sci-fi giant monster films, but from the looks of the preview it's not so bad.

There was a 1990s movie about the Cuban missle crisis of the early '60s, involving a movie theater showing a sci-fi movie called "Mant!" ("Half man, half ant - all terror!"). The title logotype for this fictional movie used the same "M" design copied from this film's real one.

  • It was a 1992 movie called Matinee starring John Goodman aka Lawrence Woolsey..real gem for 50's sci-fi fans.

  • Amm...those rockets at 0:52 sound alot like lasercannons from Star Wars, don´t they? (of course I know Star Wars was produced years later)

  • That thing looks like Kamacuras from the Godzilla series.

  • Yeah..it's hokey.

Yeah...it's pushing the envelope on believeable monsters.

But the scene in the fog with the bus is still a killer scene.

    I love this movie.

  • I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!! THE BEST !

  • This was the first monster movie/black and white movie ive ever seen and i love this movie alot

  • Imagine this movie with modern effects. That would be fantastic!

  • I saw this at the Granada Chichester uk on a double bill with First man into space. It was my first (X rated film). You had to be 16 years or over to get into the cinema, I was 13 at the time and loved every minute of it.

  • What a great classic giant monster movie that was!
