  • шикарно спел.

  • Wow!!

  • AWESOME

  • I miss seeing this face on my TV - hope to see it soon on stage for This Loud Morning tour!

  • Chris Cornell - Billie jean (acoustic live) YOUTUBE THAT

  • Ótimo muito bom very good !

  • :O... O... M... G...

  • He's just amazing. In my opinion the Best American Idol Winner EVER!

  • FUCK ME !

    This is too good

  • Chris Cornell! Nice singing by cook but if its musical ability, id still go for chris cornell

  • EXACTLY, CHRIS ARRANGED THIS SUPERB. COOK DID IT BETTER. NOW THAT MJ IS NOMORE, THIS MAKES EVERYTHING SO MELANCHOLIC,BEAUTIFUL AS MJ WALKEDAWAY ALONE FADING BACK INTO THE SKY.

  • Chris Cornell did this 5 years ago, David did improv on this. This is sooooo melancholic as the words are so apt now, that the King Of Pop has gone, " BE CAREFUL WHO YOU LOVE,AS THE LIE BECOMES THE TRUTH !!! " Oh, my God !!!

    On the Dance Floor...

  • Bo Bice > Dane Cook

  • Out of all the seasons (what is it up to now? 12?) I only remember David Cooks and Adam Lamberts performances.

  • Is it just me, or is the verse of this song essentially using a "Nothing Else Matters" backing track?

  • Does anyone know if David actually played the guitar solo in this song?

  • I have to say this, I was never a Michael Jackson fan...not for a while. But listening to this version, OMG, this guy, i dont know who he is...but what a voice!!!! A friend sent me this video...I have to listen to everything else this guy has done...he is amazing.

  • @troubleswipp I've never watched American Idol because of the lousy singers, but I gotta admit this kid's got it. Not as good as Cornell, but nearly as good. I hope he's got a good future ahead of him, unlike some of the previous so-called winners. I've heard a few and they do not merit attention, much less a record deal.

  • haha how is this not number one on american idol?

    pure genious*

  • @stevierae1993 yes it is

  • this was ground breaking... this is one of the the top 3 performance...(top 2 for me) on AI

  • this was the only performance that warranted a win by David.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=ZJFs6YQbhWM

  • I think that its hillarious that I picked him to win from the begining....and he did

  • quite possibly the best Idol performance EVER.Better than the original.

  • @Thebignsexy1 u cant compare david to mj.mj is beter compared to the david they have different concept ingrave that to your brain budy

  • Chris Cornell is better.

  • @sofakingrate ,,yes he is ,,but this billie jean version of DAVID COOK is really awesome

  • i just love the way david sings this it is totally awesome.......chris cornell may have rewrote mj song but david rocks it chris did a good job but david brings it to a whole new level.....glad chris rewrote it and really glad david blew it away

  • The best original cover of Billie Jean I have ever heard simply brilliant thumbs up to you David hope to hear some of your recordings on the charts sometime soon ..

  • Poow o cara conta muito ^^

  • My favorite American Idol winner by far. I have listened to this so many times, and it never gets boring. He is truly talented, and just down right fucking amazing

  • @Fight4you1

if u think he was good search up blake lewis on american idol - you give love a bad name

Its so freaking awesome thumbs up if u agree pplz!!!

  • he just converted me to rock music

  • too self indulgent. don't like this version.

  • completely and utterly amazing

  • He wasn't stealing. it's a show where they do covers... If this is stealing, then so is every other performance in idol history.

Besides, he made a point that it was Chris Cornell's version. And Chris Cornell himself said he was proud of David and honored to have him perform it.

David simply chose this rather than make his own arrangement because this arrangement was already perfect, and not well enough known to lose the element of surprise. He owned this.

it was just that this arrange

  • the best American Idol of ALL TIMY BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Holy crap!

Thats good. Even better than the original!

  • when i first seen david cook walk out in the stage for the first time i knew he was gonna win needless to say i havent really watched american idol since he won i love his voice its amazing

  • Great job! Totally different version!

  • love him so much

    perfect voice

  • f*ck david archeleta david cook is way better

  • this man took thi song to a level we couldnt think of. micheal had to be impressed!

  • Amazing. :)

  • Humm, I believe the best part of it was between 0:00 - 4:53

  • get ur own song cheap skate

  • gold....

  • damn good voice...not as good as Cornell....but damn good

  • beautiful...

  • Respect.

  • mj wrote it he was the betterone

  • OH MY FRINKING GOD! I was just looking at "Top 10 AI performances" and it brought me here. I didn't watch AI on the season he was in, so I have never hear this. I CANNOT believe the beauty, the sheer magnificence of his voice and his rendition of this song. I am speechless.

  • @m2930 "the beauty, the sheer magnificence of his voice" - so true. Well said. I am a vocal coach and I use David Cook as an example of an astonishing vocal talent.

    There. are. no. words.

Sorry, he sings with much more resonance and beauty of tone and expression than even Cornell. Or MJ. And I do like CC. And I love MJ.

David Cook is very underrated - he is a STUNNING singer.

  • @m2930 honey you missed a FANTASTIC season, everyone in the top 10 that year was great BUT nobody blew me away like he did! He was great at performing and had the win from his audition! =]

  • @m2930 Chris Cornell did this about 5 years ago. David Cook did a nice version, but it's certainly not original

  • @m2930 just wanted to let you know that this is actually Chris Cornell's rendition. David even gives Chris credit for it. Just so you know. David did NOT creat this rendition, although I do agree he sings it most beautifully. :)

  • @m2930 It's spelled FUCKING.

  • horrible...sorry I don't hate david cook but it's a fail........mj billie jean now thats a win

  • @ToshiroHyorinmaru91 You are certainly in the minority on this one. This is fantastic.

  • @Youareafaggg Does it look like I care? I love MJ songs only done by him. I don't like when people cover his songs.

  • Comment removed

  • @iamnewhYbrid Your comment doesn't even make sense.

  • @ToshiroHyorinmaru91 so doesnt your moms lipstick

  • @iamnewhYbrid lmao good one.

  • The way he switched the original version pop of mj, to rock is fantastic, there is few people who can do it at his level....

  • @lotinhos estoy deacuerdo

  • @lotinhos - he didn't switch this at all. He performs it well, but this is an almost exact replica of Chris Cornell covering it.

  • @lotinhos its not his arrangement. its chris cornells....

  • @LordMongoose13 @Incursus41 . Dude im a huge fan of Chris Cornell. but I think david cook performed Cornell's version is way better than Cornell would have ever imagined.

  • @howlikedat a audioslave follower here...and im agree with you

  • this and mad world are the best performances on idol i have ever seen

  • Hated Billy Jean made by MJ... (sorry)

But now I love Billy Jean! Great Cover!!!

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!

  • @cynthiacstewart yup its super

  • David did justice to this song...and Lionel's song "Hello." He is so talented and original.

  • David did justice to this song...and Lionel's song "Hello." He is so talented and original.

  • David did justice to this song...and Lionel's song "Hello." He is so talented and original.

  • David did justice to this song...and Lionel's song "Hello." He is so talented and original.

  • holy shit, this guy can sing!

  • If you think this is horrible and slow check out Chris Cornell's version

  • I love this

  • I hate to break it to you guys, but this is the Chris Connell version of Billy Jean. All Dave did was sing it the way he did. Look it up right here on You Tube.

  • That's right but Chris' version sucks, Dave sounds much better, don't believe me? compare them side by side, David has a better voice

  • @BBThames oh, how smart you are ... not .. they announced that it was Chris Cornell's version of Bille Jean you dumb a** .. You're not "breaking" anything to anyone .. do some research before you run your mouth. On Idol, the contestants often select various versions of songs and sometimes they simply make it 100% their own, as David did w/Always be my Baby, Little Sparrow ... etc .. etc .. etc ...

  • A for effort, I guess.

I wish people wouldn't try to cover Billie Jean. It's PERFECT the way it is. No one can cover it and actually leave the audience going "oh that was good" because I don't think it's possible to top the original. I think Billie Jean is pop's biggest master piece ever. It is timeless.

  • @hildax3rawr What?? The cover brings a sense of loneliness and sorrow to it. I can empathize with the character in the cover. It garners an emotional response. Whereas the original merely reminds me that MJ was a terrific dancer (not as good as M. C. Hammer) and that he was the best pop artist of all time.

  • That's the beauty of the original! There's such a realm of emotions in it but it's not melodically sad. The only way that Billie Jean is able to accomplish all of these different emotions is because the melody leaves it up to you to decipher it. If you just hear it, you miss it. If you pay attention to it, it hits with insane and powerful emotion. MJ really revealed himself in this song. It's so honest, if you listen for it. And are you kidding?

  • Furthermore, are you insane?? MJ could out dance MC Hammer any day of the week. At 50, he could have still kicked his ass. You can argue about MJ's vocal abilities but when it comes to his dancing, it's out of this world. No one comes anywhere near it.

  • this song is so nice a like this very much. . .

  • Is it just me or is the background riff Nothing Else Matters by Metallica..lol

  • its not. but very similar

  • come on its more than similar its basically a cover

  • @ThemachonachoboyTV of course it's a cover, still amazing though. did someone say this wasn't a cover?

  • Haha does sound like it actually xD But no where near as good, I do love his song but Nothing Else Matters is probably the best song in the world. Ever.

  • Yeah lol both versions of this song are awesome, and yes, hail metallica xD

  • I think even Michael Jackson would think this version was incredible the way David Cook sings it.

  • He is good, but i like MJ better but he is good to. :)

  • ahhhhhhhhhh i lovee this sooo much !!!!!! : )

    he has an amazing voice

  • OMGGGG i cant believe how good this is, this song totally blows me away.... may God bless you, what a voice and what an awesome cover :thud:

  • I still cannot BELIEVE how stunning of a presence his voice has.....it is soooooooooo resonant - it spins with Beauty and expression. The vibrato is perfect. the high notes are CRAZY beautiful....!!!! A rare "dramatic tenor". Look it up on wikipedia. I am a vocal coach and have heard a lot of singers and been to a lot of concerts and operas, musicals, shows, rock shows....and have performed in many, and trust me, he is one in a billion. I am shocked that others don't "get" this little fact. !!!!

  • I keep revisiting these videos. David Cook is beautiful, the voice, even more so. Sadly, some people will forever remain tone deaf or resentfully unwilling to give him his due.

  • one of the many things that keeps me as a listener is not only the emotional emphasis he puts to lyrics and pure vibrato, it's also the way he can sing his tonsils out and still be melodic unlike some nightmarish screamers out there ug. he has a powerful voice with ease. Gees there's also not enough room to say how handsome he is and easy on the eyes. :)

  • @beckylink

I get it, Becky! Holy Crap, WHAT A VOICE! The richness! My dad was a singer and a tenor maybe that's why I treasure great voices. I hope he realizes what he has, and takes care of it.

  • @beckylink I got it right off. Don't usually watch American Idol, but the moment I heard his voice, I was hooked. He is truly amazing. Nice guy too so i have heard. One to admire.

  • @beckylink I agree completely. Such natural talent. Daughtry's vibrato always annoyed me. Way too rapid and forced sounding. Can't for the life of me understand what people saw in him.

  • @slchandl I agree with the David part. disagree with the Daughtry part. David is my number one now and always, but Daughtry is amazing, i think. His CDs are INCREDIBLE. David's wins, of course, but Chris is a very talented man and his band owns... your opinion is your own though. I respect it. just felt like commenting ;)

  • @HopelessDaydreamer55 Really? You don't think that Daughtry's vibrato sounds like a chipmunk on crack? Oh well. To each his own... ;-)

  • @HopelessDaydreamer55 Case in point, search youtube for "Daughtry - It's Not Over" and pull up the first result. Then go to 1:14. He's toned it down a bit since his days on Idol, but it still rears its ugly, chipmunk head. *shudders*

  • @slchandl lol no i don't think that ;)

He does have a very prominent vibrato, but it's not too bad. I think it just has a very rough tone to it. Very "Rock" whereas David is just very David (he's rock, but i like him more than most rock singers, so i give him his own category haha).

I spent two years in a choir directed by a woman who sang opera with a vibrato 10000000 times worse than Daughtry... Maybe that's why I really don't see a problem with it. Idk. I just like him :)

  • @slchandl I listened to 1:14 of the song. I didn't see anything wrong with it. sorry ;)

  • @HopelessDaydreamer55 **facepalm**

  • @beckylink first time seeing this was just wondering what you think of matt cardle on the x factor , like to hear your opinion.

  • @beckylink you've performed?? hmmm who are you?

  • @beckylink

thanks for that. i agree he is definitely talented. i hear his eleanor rigby piece, and i really didnt like it that much. i was surprised that the judges lovedd it. But i knew there was something unique about his voice. Couldnt figure out what. he is a rly good singerr.

  • ARE YOU ON CRACK?

  • hes emomazing in the faceing . theirs nothing else to say but i LOVE him

  • I may have 2 buy this version...ding he sing the heck out of this song...

  • i love this cover such sadness..

  • I Love 1:20 - 1:26 OOOOOooooo Yeeahh

  • his voice is...AMAZING...omg I am so jealous!!!

  • its hot when it gets to the chorus

  • how is it stealing when it was announced on the show by Seacrest as "ChristCornell's version of Billie Jean" ?

  • @Incursus41 . Dude im a huge fan of Chris Cornell. but I think david cook performed Cornell's version is way better than Cornell would have ever imagined.

  • @Incursus41 In addition to announcing that it was Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean, if you listen to Chris Cornell sing his version it's pretty obvious that David used and it's concept but David's singing runs circles around anyone else so much so -he still manages to make it his own. Breathtaking!

  • ryan mentioned before DC sang that it was CC version! all ppl who watched the show know that!

  • He's not stealing anything retard. It's called a "cover".

  • holy fuck freakin cool song baby!!!

  • nobody could do it better then micheal asshole

  • dont be dissin michael

  • bravissimoooooooooooooooooooooooo.

  • The Best Voice i've ever heard.

    Strong vocal base

  • פשוט גירסה גאונית ! :)

  • David a true artist!!!!

  • David I lovveee u

  • Beautiful job of choosing a song to showcase his voice.

  • Dear David. wanna come visit in Israel? big fan.

  • Michael Jackson>David Cook>anyone else>Chris Cornell

  • Austin Drage>Anyone else

  • This one is great too! Though Cornell has a better voice.

  • LOL..this is not a tribute to MJ...more like Cornell probably likes the song and put his own twist to it. And the then the chain continued with Cook. Cornell version existed before MJ's death. I like both MJ's and Cornell's versions.

  • Sorry, it did XD. especially compaired to the original!!!! BUT, b4 u boo me, the goal of American Idol IS to try something different. So David, ur good and all, but don't mess wilth a classic.

  • this song is such a beautiful tribute to the late Michael Jackson. it shows that even though the King of Pop is gone, his music lives on

  • it's more of a tribute to chris cornell. reason? chris cornell sang this version as a cover to michael jackson's original billie jean. so david cook is singing chris cornell's version of billie jean.

in actuality... David Cook < Chris Cornell < Michael Jackson

  • wasn't this from BEFORE he died???!

  • ur a idiot

  • Go David -- beautiful version of the MJ classic. SO glad this is still version is around on YT for all of us to enjoy.

  • oh god.. i love David Cook. this guy's amazing. i'm so glad he won!

  • damn dude can sing.
