diddo I live near Seattle and was surprised at the accuracy. too bad it was as short as it was, and no kind of schrimish, but I guess they're coming out with another. WIC soviet assault; which looks good too may be it will have a schrimish.
Im from Seattle and the one really disturbing part is from 3:15-3:26. It looks exactly like Seattle from the north looking south and seeing it in flames is what people here feared during that time if not just being nuked.
Red Dawn dude, I did agree with some of it actuly.... It was CRAZY times, anything coulda happened. Really after watching red dawn I dont get why seattle wouldnt have MAJOR problems being occupied....
To be honest, considering the size and strength of the Red Navy's surface ships, I can't see how they could do a sustained invasion of North America. Even if they invaded Alaska or Canada, it would be a stretch. I don't think the Soviets really could do it, not without increasing the size and strength of their naval forces or introducing a supercarrier of their own like our Nimitz Class. Otherwise all air support would have to come from the USSR.
well if you've played the game, you'd know that most of the US forces were concentrated in the European theater, including the carriers, the whole point of the invasion of the US was to create enough of a threat that the US would have to pull their troops out of Europe, so that the soviets could break the deadlock in with NATO and push further into Europe.
THat is the Soviet point of view and it sounds smart when you put it that way, but how do they intend to the support the invasion? Sure their troops in Europe would be given a huge advantage while we scramble to save the US, but the Soviet invasion force will be on their own and eventually overwhelmed like they were in the game since they didn't have a good flow of reinforcements from the USSR.
Don't get me wrong though. I love WiC and I'm looking for to the sequal.
The soviet navy was huge, it is not like the russian navy now, soviets had powerful surface combatants and a fair number of carriers, not to mention their superior submarines with cruise missles. The USSR had a larger army then US and NATO combined, an invasion on the US is reasonable.
Actually the USSR was extremely overrated and saying that the USSR had a larger military than US and NATO combined is very wrong and where are your facts of this. This takes place in the 1980s and the soviets were a weak child by this point and some of their equipment was outdated.
Before the collapse of the USSR, the Red Navy had lots more amphibious warfare ships than we did, and a shit-ton of subs, cruisers, and destroyers to cover them. They did in fact have "contingency" plans for invasions of the US, UK, Iceland, etc. The game's scenario is actually 100% plausible. Thank God history turned out differently.

Heh, yeah, it's almost as stupid as... ya know, Soviets invading the United States 0.o
Did you think that perhaps this game likes to stretch reality a tad?

I prefer Red Storm Rising, but that's just me. Heh.
I can understand the point of a flag - it makes a good rally point.

All that sene is for is creating nationalism and heroicism for us, making it where "They Killed the American Flagberer, you 'soviet' bastards!" rofl

Probably why they didn't, and perhaps why this is considered in the same league as Red Dawn - that being the fictional, not real, league.
