  • Conan's always had the best musical guests!

  • I think Alex Desert looks so much like a young Dizzy Gillespie

  • Alex is a Phenomenal actor and musician.

  • Alex wins the prize for coolest back-up singer. How chilled is he here?

  • God, Alex, with talent like that you were wasted on Becker. Anyone else think Deston bears a resemblance to Floyd Patterson?

  • I love this band so much! Thanks for the quality upload :). I have some really sweet HD quality vids of them on my YouTube channel (2010 show in Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

  • You gotta love Scott on drums!!!!

  • Forget Becker, Alex Desert is in Swingers! and Hepcat! He wins.

  • Amazing how Ska music can bring people together . . .

  • thanks so much for posting this video :)

  • drummer is killing it

  • I picked up this album when it was first released years ago; it still sounds fresh every time I play it + always makes for a most pleasant diversion :-)

  • It just hit me that this song is being played so brilliantly LIVE. So many bands sound all sloppy live, but this sounds damn near like the record! Oh man would I love to have seen Hepcat back in the day. And I was only 7 or 8 years old at the time, but I probably would've loved it nonetheless!

  • This place is dead anyways...Brilliant!

  • 1:15!!!!!

  • I really miss Hepcat. I know everyone is busy working on other projects, but please try to make it happen soon!

  • The performance is from December 1997! I might be able to dig up the date sometime but I guess that may be good enough..recorded this for my myself while on christmas vacation...

  • @Ynnadodgers The Conan archives say it's from Friday February 20, 1998...

  • @AdmiralNeeda So strange, as I coulda swore it was the episode with Dweezil & Omit. Memory is all I have to counter that, so guess I'm wrong for now.

  • This song is off the Meet the Deedles soundtrack. i forgot how great this song is. anyone who is a fan of ska should check that album out.

  • pickitup pickitup! This is great stuff

  • dont forget Alex Desert was also on Boy Meets World. one of the best ska bands ever besides my ex bro in laws old 90s ska band from Detroit called The Parka Kings

  • Saw these guys open for Rancid

  • @legalizeit727 Really? Damn I'm jealous!

  • Unbelievable... astonishing.... If I never see this band live, I will feel as though I've failed in life. I MUST see these guys.

  • They always give the best shows. Can't wait to see em' play again.

  • amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing, his voice is so pure... I wish they wetre still a band I'd pay ANYTHING to see these guys live ^^

  • @Cloress1 They´re actually on tour right now and i remember an interview i watched in here were greg said they wore working on the next album... so

  • thanks so much for uploading this. what a brilliant performance.

  • This song is addicting!

  • Awesome

  • What I really love about ska is that even when the song is about lost love (in this case, your woman wanting to be with another man) or other quite depressing subjects, they still make you want to dance!

Another good example of this is Lord Brynner's "Congo War" (it's on YouTube, check it out) - a song about the 1960's civil war, yet you just can't help feel happy listening to it...lol

  • Greg Lee looks a little like Morgan Freeman...!!!!! Alex Desert back up vocalist came out in the show Becker....

  • @Daniel93082 I think he looks a lot more like Pelé.

  • such a great band.

  • Is the back up singer, a actor on the show Becker?

  • He's only singing back up here...but yes.

Alex Desert played a blind man on Becker

  • @truedestony1 Wasn't he in Swingers as well? "This place is dead anyway"!

  • Alex is one of the founding members of Hepcat. He is an accomplished musician and actor

  • @raschase Not only a "backup singer" but a founding member of Hepcat. Also played "Alex" in Swingers.

  • @raschase Not only a "backup singer" but a founding member of Hepcat. Also played "Alex" in Swingers. The band was named after his cat "Hepcat".

  • @raschase he was also in Swingers the movie but he is actually a member of the the band

  • @raschase He also co-starred in 'Swingers' w/ Vince Vaughn.

  • @raschase he was also in Swingers

  • @raschase He was also in the movie Swingers.

  • @raschase Thats my homie Alex....no he is singer.....and from becker show.....lol :P

  • @raschase He also played Alex in the movie Swingers.

  • How can anyone not like this?

  • Pelé - 1284

  • Time or Newsweek named 'Right On Time' one of the top albums of '98 (The Boy Band craze was given the 'worst of the year' honor). Glad someone was paying attention to them during the time.

  • Oh yeah...i forgot about that...

    :)

  • @zxc545454 Another point to -Right on Time-... though the strugle with the -Scientific- album will continue i guess...

i personaly preffer Right on Time `cos it contains 2 of my top 5 favorite Hepcat songs (Pharoah´s Dreams and Baby Blues) and my alltime favorite ska song (Tommy´s Song... though i preffer the live version... which you can hear on a video I uploaded not too long ago n___n)

  • Hepcat and coco fan :)

  • Arghs, should have gone to the concert just 3 months ago in Germany :/.

  • fierce one drop

  • Love this song. One of the few ska/rocksteady bands I like

  • @lSomeoneYouKnowl Well that's a shame because there are tons of good bands

  • One of the best bands ever! Thanks for posting this. Takes me back, seems like it would have been around 1997, they were with WARP Tour round that time. This album still finds it's way into my car regularly. such chill tunes, I love it.

  • hepcat is like the most racially integrated band ever

  • excelente rola y buenisimo el video!!!!! me gusta!!! : - )

  • Ska and Rockabilly makes me want to grind my face off it's all so great! Take that Emo pricks!

  • @skrimpshidy dude, the ska and rockabilly scene was the hipster scene of the late 90's. just focus on the music and forget the subculture bullshit

  • Hepcat is so fucking underrated it makes me want to stab my pop music loving neighbors but then I play a Hepcat song and chill and forgot about such violence...

  • @Benj888 yeah, man. when i get heated at work, i pop in "out from nowhere" and "dance wid me" brings me home.

  • man,.. bring'n back some memories :)

I remember watching the Blair Witch Project with the lead singer (Greg) in the jungles of Costa Rica..

we were shitting on the bike ride home that night lmao!!! killa song,.. killa dude

  • These guys are great! I could listen to the all day!

  • Goddamn these cats are tight! Always have been and will always be a fan. That's how live music should sound.

  • Much Respect to hepcat!!!

    Grandes!

  • epic, epic shit!!!

  • Such a great ska tune, one of the first to play traditional ska rhythms

  • what? one of the first to play traditional ska? I love Hepcat, but they weren't one of the first bands to play ska trad.

  • @abs208

yep. two-tone bands covered trad songs all the time. & the toasters are generally considered the first 3rd wave ska band & they do some trad-sounding songs. the scofflaws first album comes to mind, too.

  • THX for sharing!!!

  • So glad to finally see this, you should really put all those footage for an official dvd!!!
