  • love it....

  • @gerrykool Yeah it's a sprightly version that gets your toes tapping

  • David, nice record but I need to correct a few things if I may. Harry Hudson's band recording of 'Miss Annabelle Lee' features singer Joe Leigh (recorded 20 April 1928), it's NOT Harry singing. Your picture shows 'There Must Be A Silver Lining' and THAT record features a duo including Harry. You mention Primo Scala's band. That band was directed by Harry BIDGOOD. And it wasn't a fake-foreign band, it was a proper British accordion band and played mainly British tunes with British singers.

  • @JohnnnyW There is some dispute about who the vocalist actually is..On Brian Rust's linear notes for an old CD release he states that HH is the vocalist..However on a careful listen it does sound more like Joe Leigh and l have ammended the info..Thanks

  • @davidglow3 Thanks David. Yes I have the Rust/Forbes discography, and a few other Joe Leigh records. There's a Facebook page of dance band enthusiasts, they currently looking for photos of Harry Hudson

  • What a rollicking dance band Huson had! I love this! Your description notes are terrific. I have a few Edison Bells and wanted to know where they came from! Do you have the hot Leven Thirty Saturday Night by the Edison Radio Boys? Would love to hear that!! my copy was ruined in the sun... inside an album too! Thanks for posting! Love it.

  • @2reeler Thank you for your kind words..Hudson's music rarely lets you down with plenty of vigour and pep.11/30 l do not own but have heard the version and l agree it is terrific

  • OH! This is just too AWESOME indeed!

  • @roybo1930 Thank you.Always good to hear from you

  • As a, UK, child in the 1950s who listened to the BBC Light Programme, Harry Hudson will remain the pianist on "Have A Go Joe". Presented by professional northerner Wilfred Pickles, and wife Mabel, and introduced as "Presenting the people to the people", the quiz-type show came from community halls around the country. Hudson played as contestants came to the mic, etc, and accompanied community singing, including the audience singing along to the show's theme tune at the start and end.

  • @6dBperOctave Terrific bit of info. Many thanks for that..It seems HH was a great survivor through thick and thin

  • I was the first viewer! (And I liked it AND saved it as a favourite.)

It's a great snappy tune. But I think the picture is of the flipside label.

  • @MsTappingtoes Great that you liked it..l could find no pictures of HH,or of his credits on a Radio label. So had to settle for this..If you have seen any pictures online please send them to me and l will upload..Happy listening
