I just remembered this show when I click on the movie called Zombie Nation. I love the theme song, especially the part where Gary Graham started to rage in his car.
Uncle Moodri was my favorite character. He had some great lines, my favorite of which-as he stood in the ocean that could have dissolved him-was: "We are all just stardust, drifting through space and time." I have never forgotten it, and often quote it.
Did some of the aliens crack open jars of pink goo, down it in one go, then go berserk tearing out people's hearts with their bare hands? Or was that the movie as it might be a little too violent for daytime tv?
@SlayerMatt69 I'm really trying to scour my memory because I was pretty young when I watched this. Another scene I remember was a cop taking cover behind a car from two or three aliens who using a high calibur weapon put hole after hole right through the car until they killed the cop.
Searches on "The Enemy Within" didn't turn anything up, I'd love to remember what I watched.
@Irishfreedom I think that was the original movie too, just called Alien Nation, with Mandy Patinkin and James Caan. It was made before the series (which was based on the movie) and has different actors but same characters.
what i really liked about this series was that it was not your cliche science fiction plots. you know, aliens taking human form and trying to take over the Earth. geez, i am sooooooooooo sick of those plots!!!!!
And the acting was great all around - particularly Eric Pierpoint. BTW I think the TV series and follow-up TV movies were far superior to the original theatrical release movie in just about every way.
bring back the 1990s, always rember the episode where the granfather is telling the story of the alien jack the ripper who used to collect alien arms or hands and then got upset because no more victims were left
I remember this show - vaguely. I used to watch it as a kid. I remember being fascinated by the idea of aliens and humans co-existing on the same planet. But after watching these credits again, I think I'm remembering the show as being better than it actually was, and I never realized how freaking bad the special effects makeup and garb was. But still, kotk has a point that stuff like this is wayyy better than today's tv, which says alot, none of it good lol.
This was one of my all time fave shows, next to 21 Jumpstreet! I even bought the one and only the complete season of Alien Nation and I bought the movies box set. I believe that have 4 movies out I think all on DVD. Bought them all from Amazon.
Probably the last great sci fi TV show made. Nothing as good has been released since Alien Nation. It was original, emotional and adventurous. Everything now has to have gruesome aliens and half the world has to be blown up and is predictable. I was so upset that the Christian Coalition slammed the show so much that the show was forced to be pulled.
What ? The Christian Coalition was upset by this ? Why am I NOT surprised ?
The movie was " so - so ", the series WAS GOLD !! I hear there is going to be a re - make, kind of like " V ". Ever since he success of Galactica's re - envisioning, everyone's talking re - makes.
The Christian Coalition slammed the show cause of the pagan theme of the Tenctons. The show was threatened several times and was one of the reasons the show ended. The studio never admitted it loudly but released a statement a year later saying they had too much pressure from the Coalition. Oddly the faith that was created by the writers for the Tencton was one of peace and love. Go fig. Hate remakes so I will avoid the new one at all cost.
Nooo. We can't have tolerance, esecially from the Christians. Remember, the pilot ep. showed a Tenct who was a Catholic priest talking to a human who was going to commit suicide.
Christian Coalition evidently thought that peace & love aren't family values. They are either gone or on their last legs.
If they make a re - make of " ALIEN NATION ", it better be a damn good one.
the reimagined Galactica - I liked MOST of it. Different strokes, my friend.
These "Christian Coalition" were nothing more tha a bunch of assholes! This tv series was about alien refugees coming to our world and trying to rebuid their lives here! Aliens that have their own culture and religion! A FICTIONAL culture and religion! By chance these stupid assholes slammed this show only because it showed a fictional alien religion??? Nobody with an ounce of sanity would do a stupid thing like that!
Thats the problem Anoleis, these people do not have an ouce of sanity. These are the same people that rescently slammed AVATAR because it gave an eco-friendly message. Its all about people having too much time on their hands, "If I don't like it, you can't like it."
WHAT?!? They slammed Avatar??? PATETIC! Is because this and others bullshit of Catholic/Christian church tha I' m Deist: I believe in God, but I dont believe in any kind of religion! Why? B/c religions are created by humans, and there is nothing more imperfect than the human being! We kill each other over insignificant, ephemeral things like money or power; we despise and hate the next simply b/c he is poor, or has a skin color different from ours, etc.
Whoever cancelled " Alien Nation " should be vetted out, suspended headfirst in a vat of yak urine, then if they're not dead of oxygen deprivation, they should be dragged behind a motorcycle by their earlobes. Cancelling one of Fox's few good shows that had a social conscience was the depth of STUPIDITY.
Technically the first movie stareing James Cann as Fransisco came first, then they made this TV Show and recast George fransisco becuase James Cann wouldnt do a TV Show at the time, from there they made 4 more movies...
This music is cool ,but I'd like to hear it whole,in full ,without any other sounds, such as narrators speaking, broken windows or Gary Graham screaming like a idiot!
The shows are available in the US and UK - you can easily buy them - for example - at Amazon or eBay. I'm the proud owner since 2 weeks ago and it so great to watch the show again =)
Man this show kicked ass! I don't know why it only lasted 1-2 seasons. There was so much more that could've been done with it. Even with the little sub-movies that came out for it. It still was awesome. George Francisco and SIKES! And since I was little (I was like 5-6 years old when this first came out) I always found the beginning theme quite catchy. Up til this day I even sing it to myself once in awhile. Aint that weird?
I love Matt Sikes played by Garty Graham and his and Cathy' Frankel's relationship I love it all. I bought the one and only season box set. the complete series on DVD from Amazon and I just ordered all five movies box set of Alien Nation that were made for TV Movies from Amazon as well. I love them. I remember when it first aired when I was a a senior in high school. 21 Jumpstreet and Alien Nation were my shows. I have the complete series of all!
This I think is the best sci fi show ever on television. It's closest to what literary science fiction does with its aliens, putting a new perspective on people through the alien race gimmick, and putting the alien race into a human perspective. It's not perfect, but it's coherent, complete, and I love it.
This was innovative, because the Newcomers / Tenctonese were THE ULTIMATE refugees. They were either accepted or else treated like other people to come to our shores.
The BEST science fiction doesn't deal with ray guns, space - ships & funny little robots, it deals with people - Even people with Pepto - pink blood & strange looking heads. I LOVED it !!
The episode where the alien that's the cop had the baby still haunts me some 20 years later. It was heavily advertised on TV and radio....a major TV event in the late 80s.
I actually find it hard to believe this is 20 years old...surely I wasn't 4 when I watched this. Unless it wasn't aired on Sky until a few years later. Anyway, takes me back.
i miss seeing weird stuff like this on tv, too much stupid ass reality shows like dancing with the stars, dancing on a mine field, dancing on lava, dancing in a building about to be demolished, dancing in the cemetery on zombie's eve, dancing on a board floating on a lake of acid
Is this the same show that had something to do with their hands being chopped off?It was supposed to signify that they had been marked for death?
