I read that the FDNY uses FedSig EQ2Bs in their newer trucks, older ones had PA200, not PA300. So this must be PA200... but i don't really know, only read it in the internet.

@wvangler93 same rules and regulations apply as far as driving code 3. i know in SF when there's critical patients they have firefighters who were already on scene drive the ambulance to the hospital while the medics care for the patient in the back. so once again, do you have your ambulance drivers license? lol " code 2 use lights and sirens when needed" that's funny.

@wvangler93 you are very mistaken. code 3 is defined by a constant forward facing red lantern visible up to 300ft. the sirens and horn are just bells and whistles nothing more. technically you're supposed to yield to the flashing lights but people are too stupid so they use the sirens and other bells and whistles to get your attention. the engine had lights on the entire time but used the sirens at the intersection like a lot of people do before they cross.

its not that its quieter but its electro-mechanical over a mechanical which runs at a different decibel and instead of becoming louder at the location of the siren it carries the sound further.

That should be allowed. Any emergency vehicle should be allowed to plow through another car(safely) if they fail to uphold the law and YIELD like they are supposed too.

if any fire dept in the usa comes to the conclusion your deliberately blocking the path of their emergency vehicle, not only will they gladly move you, but you can and will be charged for each injury and death and the scene of where they are responding to. look it up. :)

YOMUSIC, does the FDNY not use the Federal Q? I heard something a while back (I don't know if it was the truth or just speculation) that the FDNY don't use the Q anymore because of the decibel level that the Q produces, since the streets of NYC are so congested with people? Can you shed some light on this lol

A few rigs still have a Q on them although it is not a federal. Pierce res1cue has a Fed Q on it however

Oh. I guess they run the EQ2b instead of the Q2b. If I was them, I would just run the electronic siren. The EQ2b costs just about as much as the real Q, I woudln't pay just about the same price for an EQ2b when I could have the real Q2b. It would save them alot of money, and plus the EQ2b sux (in my opinion :D).
