To crimsonluma16 -- Wow! How lucky you are to have the music! I am so in love with this piece and would love to be able to play it into eternity! Can you give me any leads on getting it?
I heard this on Halloween day while driving home from work in the evening, on my local NPR affiliate radio station. I spontaneously burst into tears. When the song was over, the announcer said the name of the piece and composer, and it took every ounce of my half-remembered high school French class to remember it and look it up when I got home. Bought Infernal Violins immediately. This piece will still make me cry for no goddamned reason. When it doesn't I still get chills.
I heard this on Classical FM on my paper round this morning all I heard was the name "The Devil's Beauties" and when I got home I went on a mad hunt for it haha so glad I found it, it's a remarkable piece :D
Totally extraordinary... Have to browse record-DVD shops to find one (DVD). Any suggestions? ...a visit to the French Lyric Festival of Aix-en-Provence (France) in July would drag many new fans. Nathalie Dessay in July in Latraviatta with the LSO... Angele... should come down south at the next one.
Saw Angele perform last week at the Laterriere music festival and have discovered a passion for violin - especially LA PIETA. This clip is so amazing - I have to find the CD it is on.
Is it me or when it came time for the violist to play at 0:49, the camera ignored her still and focused on all the violins and cellos anyway, despite all of them only playing back up pizzicato? :| Poor violas never get enough love...
This piece is lovely! I must know where they got that statue towards the beginning before the cello solo... that horrid beak and shroud... its WONDERFUL!!! I want it!!!! Is it a mythical figure????
Merci à Angèle Dubeau et la Pièta pour cette magnifique interprétation de ce classique de François Dompierre, un compositieur québécois encore trop peu connu du grand public.
Thank you for any help you are able to give! I love this piece!!
I've already purchased the CD/DVD Infernal Violins -
So have the "listening" version ..have been trying to buy the actual published music for Les Beautes Du Diable -- am a violinist and want to be able to play it. I've tried many times, but unsuccessfully to find if its published. Also love the Devil's Dream arrangement if it's published -- gives a classical spin to a fun to play
Thanks again for your interest in this project. I've looked up Francois Dompierre in the past and again last evening.
Just don't seem to find a contact e-mail address for him.
I'll try thru Angele Dubeau's web-site and see if I luck out in trying to get the music. Like you say it just may not be available for public use (so sad).
Oh you're very welcome.. I wish I could be of more help, but I haven't been able to uncover anything either. Best of luck though... let me know if you do hear anything back! =)
I know that this is a bit late but the music sheets are available i don't really know how because my music teacher got a hold of them but we didn't have the time to play it this year.
It's not too late, it's not too late! I love this piece and would love to be able to play it into eternity! Can you give me any leads on finding the music! forever grateful SFJ
I purchased "Infernal Violins" CD. I play the violin and would love to be able to purchase the actual "written on paper" music so that I might be able to perform it sometime with other musician friends. I'll give the website
a try. I did try to make contact sometime ago, but didn't seem get any response.
Oh ok! Not sure if it has been published for public use... this song is composed by François Dompierre if that helps you on your search. I'll also do a little searching online and see if I find anything...
I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking... which CD did you purchase? This song is available on two of Angele Dubeau & La Pieta's albums. Both "Infernal Violins" & "Fairy Tale (Un Conte de Fées)". You can buy both of them online through amazon[DOT]com. You can find more official info on both her website angeledubeau[DOT]com & on analekta[DOT]com if you do a search. Hope that answers what you were asking!
This music is astounding and heart wrenching. Play this to the world whilst showing scenes of War and see the planet week for the wonders and fouls, the crimes and the beauties of Man, and all with the same hand.
Angele Dubeau is always one of my favourite violinists. Her playing is breathtaking, passionate, full of warmth and top notch. She is also a great virtuoso. I hope more people around the world should get to know her; try listen to her Chopin. Nocturne In C# Minor with the La Pieta and you will agree...
Angele played yesterday at Teatro Degollado in Guadalajara city, Mexico. Excellent performance, she was great and she was very kind. I enjoyed it a lot, love her!
isn't amazing how good they are?!!? i have both their CD's on my ipod..but i still can't get over how they memorize all this music! it just baffles me!!
Glad you enjoy it! They just released a new album in October as well... definitely worth checking out if you enjoy this music. There is also a recording of this song on the new album!
Angèle Dubeau is my mother's cousin and was raised in Ste-Élisabeth, near Joliette. Even though I've never met her (yet), I've been told that she worked very hard to achieve the fame she now has. Go on, Angèle! Keep impressing us with your nice performances (like this one).
Awesome piece! I recently bought Infernal Violins after hearing Angele Dubeau's classical rendition of "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones. My CD should arrive by mail any day now :P
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm curious to see what you thought when you heard the whole album. Infernal Violins was also the first Angele CD I purchased. If you were to buy additional CDs, I would recommend their latest Passion next.. that or Let's Dance. Both have such wonderful arrangements. Also if you ever get a chance to see them live, I'm sure you'd really enjoy it! Thanks for the comment. =)
I can't wait to see them at the "Festival Internacional Cervantino" of this year... Mexico's waiting fou you!!
