  • holy crap! their dynamics are absolutely fantastic! i love it :) it's a very nice arrangement of my favorite hymn.

  • Love this song and them! During this finals week it is very helpful to listen to this and know no matter what my efforts will be rewarded for the good (:

  • may jou'all continue to be a blessing to many souls with your voices.God has tremendusly blessed you'all with

  • beautiful... absolutely beautiful

  • James, you rocked this!! Still listen to this song almost every Sunday since I got it for the EFY in Otown. You're amazing!

  • EXCELLENT RENDITION of a favorite!!!

    GREAT JOB!

  • Vocal Point is on the Sing Off! I was like "FINALLY"!

  • a beautifull arrangement from Sibelius music

  • personally i think their cresendos are a little over bearing but well done

  • @gedds1993 I find it disconnecting.

  • @MrJackanthony how so?

  • @MrJackanthony Not the crescendos and much as the dynamic range mate. Maybe it's just the time of day I listened to it, or my environment but, every time I have to strain to hear what each voice is doing, and the lyrics, and 'lean forward', is is like someone flipping the speakers off. Probably the taste of the mixing engineer :) They are a fantastic choir. Have a good one

  • @MrJackanthony Check out a group call "Voice Male" they are very good

  • Beautiful!

  • Wow! The vocal dynamics elevate this already-awesome and touching hymn to another level! I am MOVED over here!

  • This is my favorite hymn.

  • their voice is as pure as...well their voice

  • this is one of my favorite songs. I love this rendition!!

  • wow.. awesome.. what type of music would you call this?

  • @elem5284 a cappella singing hymns

  • @elem5284 abstinence

  • Oh good, it's over. Now I can go fix my hair. They made it stand up three or four times during this ! Astounding performance !

  • Beautiful, inspirational and very moving...........makes me tingle all over

  • 6 people don't know good music

  • i was listening to waka flocka flame nd dis came on Wow

  • Similar arrangement different group. Sounds amazing. I prefer how this group doesn't change the tempo as much but still does a great job with sfz's and dynamics in general.

  • I get chills every time.

  • 5 people accidentally broke their mouse while trying to click the "like" button.

  • 3:03 FTW

  • I'm no religious at all. I'm apparently classified as Atheist by the government. Just because I'd prefer a scientific explanation to why things happen, doesn't mean I don't enjoy a good song, with emotion and heart put into it.

    Well done BYU, well done.

  • I really will never understand the minds of those 5 dislikes.

  • my homeland's hymn :) Quess, where am i from?

  • @vamppio - It's actually an older melody than the Sibelius version. Sibelius made his version later. Might be that he enlarged it, arrenged it to the big orchestra. But the original one is a spiritual song. That info was on 1 of these vids presenting this song. (Wishing a fellow Finn)

  • @vocal point - Awesome twist in 2:20. No Finn will dare to do that to Sibelius :)

@timomastosalo - No you are wrong. This is true and original masterpiece of one Jean "Janne" Sibelius. Composed 1899, revised 1900 as a part of Finlandia. These lyrics are older (or the Finnish lyrics younger) than the piece itself.

Put "Finlandia_Hymn" and "Finlandia" to wikipedia.

  • @SamiLaulajainen - Ok... another comment let me to believe that also the melody was at least partially older

  • @vamppio

Finlandia :-) This is my favorite Orchestral piece. I have a hard time being impressed by anything but the original. Sibelius truly was a musical genius.

  • @prestoneprice No way. Without looking at any of these comments, I just searched Finlandia because our youth symphony is playing it soon. What a coincidence.

  • @Phoxus Now I feel stupid because now I know this song is in Finlandia. Still awesome.

  • my favorite hymn. makes me cry <3

  • Oh WOW! This is beautiful!

  • I am inactive right now. This is my most favorite hymn. I love the words. I have a lot of struggles in my life and when ever I am low I listen to this and pray. My favorite line is thy best thy Heavenly Friend.

  • @cobrabelly If you have those spiritual experiences and a deep connection to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, you are probably further ahead than many active members!

Last week in a sunday school we were asked "What is great about the Gospel?" and many ppl failed to answer...

  • @cobrabelly the struggles in your life will be lifted so much if you become fully active again. i know from personal experiance, dedicate yourself:) its sooo worth it!!

  • I love acapella!! :) 天籟美聲!

  • I met one of them! They are so nice and talented. Go VOCAL POINT

  • Wow, I've been looking for this.

    Thank you so much.

  • Beautiful.

  • Here is the score. This one is in F Major. I has been transposed to different keys, depending upon the need.

  • Praise Jesus! Does anyone know what key this is in?

  • Very Beautiful! Sometimes I just have to remind myself to be still and whatever I am going through, the Lord will provide. Thanks for this beautiful reminder.

  • Oh my gosh I love this arrangement!!! It sounds so beautiful!!! totally took this song to another level!! vocal point from BYU are awesome!!!

  • So beautiful, this is defiantly one of my favorite hymns.

  • WOW! Bravo! Amazing crescendos and sfz's! one of the best arrangements ever! I love BYU Vocal Point they never cease to amaze me ;)

  • @patriberr the guy who directs vocal point and arranges there music is in my ward :) pretty cool! :)

  • very nice rendition

  • i love it

  • Not to be negative, but not my favorite rendition nor my favorite Vocal Point selection - too much showmanship and decoration in this case distracts from the lyrics (which are some of the most profound ever penned). Lovely harmonies but should follow the message better.

  • @filmguy24p i agree with you

  • 3:07 to 3:43 I get CHILLS.

  • Vocal point is legit.

  • I long to be with my Lord

  • I love this Hymn and You took it to another level it's amazing!!

  • wat a beautiful song. its their best !

  • Fabuloso ! a wonderful arrangement, beautifully performed, a peaceful expression. Vocal Point does a great job performing a cappella music.

  • Wow... talk about getting shivers

  • how beautiful!!

  • This arrangement was done by Eclipse... Who ever picked this out by ear has real talent

  • I take that back...eclipse definately got their version from you guys...lol

  • Beautiful!

  • I want to date a guy from the BYU Men's Chorus!!

  • this is their best song. It is an incredibe song, it was beautifully arranged, and they sang it flawlessly.

  • I love this song.... well sung too..

  • Love Vocal Point! So glad to see more of their work up on Youtube. Also while this hymn isn't on the album, the best album they currently have out is "Vocal Point Non-Stop"

  • You can hear this song on the Vocal Point CD called "Standing Room Only" through Tantara Records at BYU. You may be able to obtain the music by contacting the arranger....Mike Hicks at BYU.
