This was U2's first show ever, they were still in their teens. It took place in the back yard of a near empty Irish Pub, back when they named themselves U Suck.
Guys, stop discussing...it is pointless because a lot of it is opinion. Both are amazing bands. Jimmy Page is just awesome and edge´s effects make it have more feeling in my opinion. I think that led zeppeli members are more talented, but that doesn´t mean they are better or worse. They are also kind of different from each other. And there´s stuff a casual fan won´t know. I like U2 more, but that´s just my taste....but I don´t know who is better. Both are among the best bands of all time.
LIsten, I love both U2 and Zep, but Zep's the more talented by far. Jimmy Page is a far better guitarist than page, and Page doesn't rely on 300 effects pedals to mask his sound. I don't even know the U2 bassist; I would if he was anything special. You can't compare Larry Mullen to John Bonham, so don't even try. The only close comparison would be Bono Vs. Robert Plant, but I think it's far harder to imitate Plant than Bono.
I think U2 have many more good songs and are far better the Zeppelin live. but Page is more talented than the edge and plant is better than Bono in some respects.

Well... Actually, LZ is one of the few bands where almost every song they ever did has something to be enjoyed from it... U2 has maybe 3 or 4 good songs per album, everything else sounds like filler tracks. And LZ was known for being a fantastic live band, because they would change stuff up. U2 plays carbon copies of their studio albums, while LZ would do all sorts of improvisational stuff live. Going to a LZ concert was like going on a fantastical journey.

u2 doesnt suck . while i am a u2 fan, i am also a zepplin fan, who isnt? . however this is an artistic interpretation / this is bono's version. bono is not trying to be robert plant. no more so than when u2 sang all along the watchtower. they do cover songs, just like metallica does often. thats what bands do so get over it! if u dont like their version - u dont have to. dont say u2 sucks because of one song they cover. their own music is done to perfection every time.

@U2360T Yeah, I like U2 very much, I appreciate almost their every song. They've got such plenty of their own compositions, that's nothing bad they do covers as well. The've done fine covers of "Everlasting Love" and Beatles' "Helter Skelter", and this one is also OK.

@U2360T yeah i love u2 and zeppelin, their music is awesome. zeppelin has a lot more skill than u2 (but not that u2 isn't; but i mean we can agree that jimmy page is better than the edge, right?), but right now i would rather listen to u2 then zeppelin. there's a lot of comments saying how bad u2 is because this cover isnt as good as the original, but how many covers of zeppelin are better? its like going to the video of "black country woman" and ranting about how bad the band is over 1 song

@U2360T You can't say that this is Bono's artistic version of whole lotta love just because the edge is a hack who can not play this guitar riff, or even do a good imitation. If you're going to do something like this completely impromptu, like they seem to have done, you should at least have some chops. And that's why there are a lot more dislikes on this video than there are likes. If I were U2, I would be ashamed to find that this had been recorded.

Estoy leyendo un montón de tonterías sobre U2. Esto NO pretende sonar como una 'auténtica' versión de WLL. Cualquiera que comprenda el concepto de esta gira de U2 (PopMart) lo sabe... Fue una sátira de muchas cosas, pero no de una banda tan admirada por U2. Lo creáis o no, LZ ha sido una importante influencia para U2, y considero que ambas tienen en común más de lo que muchos ponderan.

Of course this isn't as good as Zepplelin, but it was'nt meant to be, thier obviously playing around. I don't know if any of you have ever seen U2 live, but there is no other band to compare...Even Zeppelin was'nt as good as they are ....LIVE...
Putting that aside, Zepplin stands alone, in crossing generational gaps, they are unique.
As for fags...it's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. Have you ever seen the frilly little blouse Plant used to wear all the time?

Guys, stop discussing...it is pointless because a lot of it is opinion. Both are amazing bands. Jimmy Page is just awesome and edge´s effects make it have more feeling in my opinion. I think that led zeppeli members are more talented, but that doesn´t mean they are better or worse. They are also kind of different from each other. And there´s stuff a casual fan won´t know. I like U2 more, but that´s just my taste....but I don´t know who is better. Both are among the best bands of all time.

LIsten, I love both U2 and Zep, but Zep's the more talented by far. Jimmy Page is a far better guitarist than page, and Page doesn't rely on 300 effects pedals to mask his sound. I don't even know the U2 bassist; I would if he was anything special. You can't compare Larry Mullen to John Bonham, so don't even try. The only close comparison would be Bono Vs. Robert Plant, but I think it's far harder to imitate Plant than Bono.
Back to this cover; it's pretty dismal.

I think U2 have many more good songs and are far better the Zeppelin live. but Page is more talented than the edge and plant is better than Bono in some respects.

Well... Actually, LZ is one of the few bands where almost every song they ever did has something to be enjoyed from it... U2 has maybe 3 or 4 good songs per album, everything else sounds like filler tracks. And LZ was known for being a fantastic live band, because they would change stuff up. U2 plays carbon copies of their studio albums, while LZ would do all sorts of improvisational stuff live. Going to a LZ concert was like going on a fantastical journey.
I still love U2 though.

Obviously you havent seen The Song Remains The Same or any live Zeppelin songs. Once upon a time there was a group of guys that grew up in Ireland listening to Led Zeppelin. They to grew up and became great rockers and developed their own style. This is U2 playing "Whole Lotta Love" The U2 way. Its not as good as Zep but hey that's why they don't play hard rock blues.
