And what's what I love!!!! Jamming is awesome! just a bit sad to not see your hands... There are awesome licks and I will take some time to hear all of them out! 5/5!
thanks man, the amps really not that great, you have to work forever to get a decent sound out of it. if you're in the market for a new amp, message me, I've become a gear/tone freak
Thanks a lot, especially coming from you, considering you are on of my favorite guitarists on youtube- definitely get the best tone. It's a JH-1b hendrix signature wah. It's actually not as Hendrix-y as a vox or whatever because there's almost no quack, but it produces a lot of octave up sounds (like at 2:35) and it's very easy to produce feedback with it.
Most wah pedals have a sweet spot where if you have on enough gain that you can get a slight upper octave effect; same thing goes for feedback. I just realized that both of those effects are easier to achieve and much stronger with the Hendrix wah, especially when you have a fuzz effect activated.
I dunno how long it took me to learn it. Probably 10 or 20 minutes, but I've known how to play it for months. When I made this video I had been playing 1 and 1/2 years
damn man, these are REALLY good. what amp are you running? thanks for watching my vidoes too, and i just save up my money forEVER. haha i reallly dig the sound of this strat.
thanks, it's a line 6 spider 3 15 watt. it's not a very good amp, I only use it for clean sounds. i'm using a boss bd-2, ds-1, and cs-3 on this video, and a hendrix signature wah. I've been really looking into a hot rod deluxe or blues deluxe, and when i do get one i'll end up ditching a few of these pedals.
i save up forever too, that's how I get my gear
and the strat is a roadhouse, i tested it against about 15 other strats, including some MIA and it was the best one.
Also, on your profile/page whatever when you click on your name...It says that you plan to do a Deep Purple..I'd like to make a suggestion..xd Black Night..
Well it was gonna be highway star or hush, because that's what someone requested, but hey, I'll write it down and put it in a hat, pick one, and see what I get
Hearing is just taking in sounds with your ears. Listening is like examining and analyzing the music, and really using every thing you can to derive a meaning from it.
I didn't learn, I just did. I have this uncanny ear and feel for music that I was able to. It didn't just come to me automatically, but I got to the point where I knew my guitar and the neck well enough I was able to just move around while improvising. Granted, at the beginning I made mistakes, but after just exploring the neck and the guitar in general, I've gotten a better sense of the sounds I can make and it comes quite naturally to me.
Oh, also lots of experimenting with the guitar. I stopped hearing music and started listening- using my eyes, my ears, and my brain to interpret what was going on and how I could translate that to the fret. Watch Hendrix's performance of Fire at Woodstock to see a great example of a guitarist thinking outside of the box, playing outside of the scales, and coloring outside of the lines.
My setup is a mexican strat -> jimi hendrix wah -> boss CS-3 -> Boss bd-2 -> boss ds-1 -> Line 6 Spider 3 15 watt amp. I don't recommend buying one of those amps. Get a used Fender tube amp, like the Hot Rod Deluxe, Blues Junior, or Blues Deluxe. My sound comes from my pedals, this amp is pretty mediocre/bad.
I get my backing tracks from guitarbackingtrack[DOT]com.
I know the scales, but I don't limit myself. I like to play outside of the scales as well as play with them. There's always lots of flow, you can kinda hear at the end of this video, that in some parts, I'm not really in a scale, I'm just going where it sounds right. By the end, this song is changing keys so fast, you can't just color inside the lines. You have to learn to play outside of the scales to escape the mediocrity of modern music and to avoid being repetitive and boring.
A few days, if I don't feel like practicing, I'll just play 30 minutes, but most days I play at least 2-3 hours, and some days, I'll play as much as 6-8.
When I practice, I'll either being writing a song and playing around with it, jamming over a chord progression, or jamming over a song. Basically, a lot of improv and Hendrix rhythm guitar style stuff if that makes sense. If you don't exactly get what I mean by Hendrix rhythm stuff, check out my Santeria video.
