mi dispiace ma canta meglio john rawsley e rispetta meglio i tempi. secondo me poi la tonalità della voce è storpiata dai microfoni. Qui si parla di opera e non vanno mai modificati i tempi. però complimenti comunque
Of course Mr. Nucci is a God among men in the opera world. This just seems like a less than quality performance for him. Some wrong words and just a little too much parlando on some notes. That being said...he's still simply amazing. And God those high notes.... One in a million.
@trevorm74 This is someone talking about the maestro, not a performance in and of itself. As to which performance of Nucci doing this role is best, by heavens that's a matter of personal preference. i like him as an old man. That's because, well, being not less than 30 myself, it appeals to me. Moreover, it shows that the role is about the most flexible on earth. Goodness me. One can be a young greasebag or an old sleazebag. The opportunity is always there.
He sounds flat in the second '17 when he sing "le" and flat in the second '21 when he sing "la"? Why? Someone can tell why? He always is flat in the center in the principal notes....Why?
The audience must have liked him. At one time the opera house at Parma was famous for its brutally critical audiences who would boo any singer off the stage for any singing glitch they could hear. A very rough crowd to sing for.
@alumian Huh? He's old enough to be Thomas Hampson's father here! Forgive him if the energy isn't what it once was, but this is extraordinary by any measure, let alone his age at the time of this performance....
@Dymension I understand im just saying my ear is tuned to the new singers more than the classics. I love the greats but I am only 20 so what do I knw lol
@Dymension Figaro is a most flexible character; one might be a young huckster or an old grease bag. Here we see the premier old grease bag There's a reason this opera has never failed to be performed somewhere on the planet every evening since it's original performance.
@P1B1U1H1 Not sure what you mean with this comment. I was being sarcastic to Alumain's comment about "the energy just isn't there". I thought it was fabulous and the energy was perfect!
@Dymension Loved this version so much Dad got it for a bday gift. Figaro is amazing; all one need do is bring one's individual trickery to the part to produce a role never before heard. No opera works like this one; done even reasonably well, the thing flows such that you think you've spent five minutes in your chair when the final curtain falls.
A voice like this comes once in a long, long while

He has a great voice, but the energy just isn't there. I feel that thomas hampson has more energy; although, Leo's voice is of better calibur.
